The concentration of this project will be based on the aboriginal people of Australia. These are people who face different issues despite the fact that they are native Australians. The three common issues that the aboriginal people of Australia face are racism, devaluing of their teachings and this is due to the fact that they are nearing extinction and their teachings are not widely embraced, and low enrollment and graduation rates. The location of concentration in this case or rather project will be Darwin, and the matter for focus will be homelessness in Darwin (Jacups, Rogerson, & Kinchin, 2018). Darwin has the highest rate of homelessness in Australia, and that has an effect on the mental health of the population, and this is because this is a stressing situation for the residents.
The name of the project will be “Homelessness in Darwin.”
The project will be looking at the rate of homelessness in Darwin. Some of the issues that it will be looking at are the magnitude of the problem, the effects that come with the problem, the people who are most affected by the problem and some of the causes of the problem (Harrison & Lock, 2017). The reason for looking into the causes is because this is a problem that has affected the nation for too long.
The success of the project will be measured based on if it will provide accurate answers to the research questions and project goals that have been outlined above.
I will reach out to the residents and ask them what they know about the issue of homelessness.
My colleagues have information about the issue at hand, and therefore I will consult with the aim of gaining from the information that they already have about the issue at hand.
The community members are the victims of the issue at hand, and that means that it will be essential to ask them more about the issue at hand. It is more likely that the community members will be willing to share and this is for their concerns to be heard.
I will use two important methods that are essential in collecting project data, and they are qualitative and quantitative methods. In qualitative, I will use interviews and group discussions. When it comes to quantitative, I will use questionnaires and materials that have been presented about the same issue in the past.
The key people who can get this done are the residents of Darwin. My area of focus is Darwin, and that means that the residents of Darwin are my point of focus (Lavery, 2014). With this in mind, it is evident that they have what it takes to get this done. The representatives of the people of Darwin are also valuable assets in this project. The reason behind it is because they know very well the political influencers of the problem at hand.
Other than the issue of homelessness, there are issues of illiteracy and unemployment.
The primary potential strategy for action is to make sure that the data is only taken from the relevant persons. This will mean that I will be provided with nothing less than facts on the issue at hand. By providing accurate data, I will be providing information that can be used to deal with the issue currently and also in the future.
The three potential risks to the project success are lack of willing participants to provide information, time constraints, and discouragement from bodies or political forces that may not want the facts about the issue at Darwin to come to the limelight (Lavery, 2014).
The organisation that I will be working with will be the Australian Red Cross. This is a non-governmental organisation that takes care of the needs of the people who are going through a humanitarian crisis.
The organisation will help in providing some of the basic amenities to the homeless in Darwin. It is essential to note that people who are going through issues are motivated to talk about the issues if they are provided with help that would reduce the problems that they are facing.
The major constraint that the Australian Red Cross is going through is the constraint of funds. The organisation relies on the donations of the well-wishers, and that means that if the well-wishers are not in a good position to help, its operations are affected negatively.
The main goal of the project is to answer the questions that have been brought forth on the issues that are affecting the people of Darwin. The group expects to attain data that is factual from the people of Darwin (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). This is because the matter at hand is crucial and the best people to provide the information are the people who are going through the problems.
I will build support for the project by providing data that is purely from the residents of Darwin. The authenticity of data is essential when it comes to supporting any research, and it is for this reason that I will use authentic data to build the project (Turner, 2014).
The activities that will take place are distributing aid to the residents who are in Darwin, collecting data, and analysing it (Parsell & Phillips, 2014).
The performance that is expected in this project is exceptional, and this is because professionals have been dedicated to making the project a success.
The time for mobilising the resources will be one month. The time for visiting the residents and collecting the data will be one day and a week will be used to analyse the data so as to come up with conclusions.
The project team and the Australian Red Cross team will be responsible for collecting donations. The project team will be responsible for collecting data and professional data analysts will be responsible for analysing the data that will be collected (Marchewka, 2014).
The resources that will be required are foodstuffs, beddings, laptops, smartphones, books, and pens.
The budget for the project will be $3000.
The resources will be provided by the founders of the project, and that is the school research club and the members of the project team (Larson & Gray, 2015). When it comes to other resources like the donations to the residents, the Red Cross will help in mobilising them.
I will monitor the plan by making sure every person plays his or her role. At the same time, I will also make sure that the timelines of the project are honored.
Leadership is essential in any project and in this case, I will play the leadership role where I will be engaged in the project throughout. I expect this to be motivation to the people that we will be working with.
The project will be evaluated on its ability to collect data that will help in knowing more about the issue at hand (Burke, 2013). At the same, the project will be evaluated based on its ability to meet the budget and also to meet all deadlines.
I will promote this project in different ways or by using different strategies. The first is network marketing, and this is where I use people who already know about the project to tell others about it. In this case, I will use the people who I am close to and mostly the team members of the project team. I will also use the learning institution to market the project. Different clubs within the learning institutions always come to help people or groups that are in dire need. In this respect, I will make sure that I have reached out to such groups. The social media will also be a tool that I will use to spread the word.
