Question:
Describe the role of Manager in the Organization.
Leadership is defined as the ability of the management to achieve and set the challenging goals, outperform various types of competition, take decisive and swift actions and inspire others to perform well. The manager of Rental NZ had to manage the part time and the full time workers. When there was chaos in the company and the workers decided to go on a strike, the manager had to find out alternative ways so as to motivate the workers and restrict them from unnecessary strikes and holidays. It is also the duty of the manager to co-ordinate with the other the staffs and the other team members so that the company can function efficiently.
Leadership provides a proper direction for a company. It is the responsibility of the employees to know the direction which they must follow to reach the desired destination. Moreover, the manager must also keep a track of the work which are assigned to the workers and supervise them regularly. It can be said that the manager must also motivate the employee to learn new things and help the workers when needed.
The three leadership traits that will work best with each group are compulsiveness, conscientiousness and tough mindedness. The manager of Rental NZ must have high sense of excellence and they must have inward desire to do the best for the company. It is the duty of the manager to motivate the employees so that they will be willing to work for the betterment of the company. The manager is logical and practical when dealing with the employees (Northouse 2015). The manager also has low sentimental attachment and they are comfortable with very kind of criticism. When the workers of the company has spread rumours, the manager tried to decided to investigate and take necessary actions upon those problems. As the workers has signed employment contract when they joined the company and they were willing to work on their rostered days, the manager had to check the rules and regulations and then sort out the problem with the employees. Self-confidence and resiliency are the most important traits of the manager. It is the duty of the manager to be very precise and controlled in social interaction. They are protective of the reputation and the integrity of the company and thus are trying to solve the problem. On the other hand, it is the duty and responsibility of the employees to manage and work according to the terms and policies of the company (McCleskey 2014).
The two types of communication that the manager will be used by the manager are verbal communication and non-verbal communication. The manager will use face-to-face communication in the promotion, demotion, training and other areas of the workplace. The manager can handle the task by talking to the employees and sorting out the misconceptions. This is considered important and it is the duty of the manager to co-operate with the employees. The manager will also send official letters and documents to the employees if they are not willing to work on their week off and holidays (Johnston and Marshall 2016). Moreover, it is also against the law of the company when the employees decide to go on indefinite strike.

However, if the manager follows participative leadership the values and the inputs provided by the team members must also be given due importance. The manager can also follow transactional leadership style and provide reward and punishments to the employees accordingly. The managers can set the pre-determined goals and the employees will follow it accordingly. The manager can also follow transformational leadership style and thus motivate the employees to increase their efficiency and productivity (Dumdum et al. 2013).

The union must try to solve the misunderstanding between the employees and the management.
