Department of Health and Human Services of Victoria is a government department. It is mainly responsible for different types of healthcare services like ambulance services, youth affairs, families and children services, public housing issues, ageing, sport policy, mental health issues as well as different other services in the state of Victoria in the nation (Nystrom et al., 2015). The organization where I work is called the Better Health Channel controlled by the Department of Health and Human Services of Victoria. It is a web-based part of the organization, which has followed the trends of circulating important health based information through webs helping individuals all over the nation to get ready access to any information regarding nay disorders. Not only that, the organizations helps individuals all over Victoria to find healthcare services that they need and accordingly enable them easy access to different services making the entire procedure much easier through certain number of clicks over the internet.
In the present generation, the chronic disorders have increased in number and are present almost in every family in the nation. These diseases are affecting the quality of life of many Victorians, which are leading to disabilities as well as premature deaths. Therefore, the present professionals working in the public health are trying their best to make people aware of the harmful effects of chronic ailments and the ways by which they develop the capability of harming not only their present life but also their future aspirations as well (Hripcsak et al., 2015). Therefore, it becomes extremely important for the individuals of the nation to develop health literacy by which they can tackle risk factors for such diseases in their own lives but also prepare them with different information for avoiding any chances of developing the disorder. Therefore, Better Health Chanel had developed the main vision of being the first web portal where individuals can gain knowledge about nay disorders in details and get access to different services that are available in the state. I believe that it is one of the most modern ways of making information available to different parts of the state at a much lesser resource investment with higher functionality. I believe that more or less every household has internet connection in the present days. Now, internet connection is even present in the Smartphone of every individual. Therefore, this procedure is one of the best medium by which the healthcare department can easily reach to every family in the state. Therefore, the vision, which had been developed by them easily, aligns with their strategic management of making more individuals get easily access to information, which are evidence based, but at the same time easily for the nonprofessional to understand. Their vision was to create an information portal for the state people by which the state people can get any information regarding any health issues and get in contact with any professional they require without any barriers. This helps in reduction of any stress for the patients to find services, to become confused about their symptoms, to procrastinate due to their busy schedules and many others (Arena et al., 2015). Therefore, I believe that their vision is one of the most refined and innovative one giving scopes to people over the state to live better quality lives, clear out any confusions tat prevail in them, get services and circulation with clicks away and develop a disease free state in the nation.
I feel quite amazed at the missions that they have set up to achieve a state with reduced number of chronic disorders. It is interesting to see that the missions they have set are quite well researched and planned in a way by which they can easily align with vision to make Victoria a disease free state and by making people develop healing literacy and give them guidance throughout their lives. They have provided significant importance to the quality of the information that they provide to citizens and hence had set a mission of providing information which would be having four important aspects. This information would be quality assured and reliable, up-to-date, locally relevant and easy to understand. Often I had a question in mind that why they are focusing so much on the four aspects of the information and my analysis had given me very important data.
In the recent era, different bloggers and websites are publishing information on the net that are not always evidence based and this in turn leads to adverse outcomes on the patients if followed ardently. Therefore, they had taken extra initiatives to ensure that the information that had been published are evidence based and are reliable. Secondly, many websites or even healthcare community centers are now aware of the present day interventions and tend to follow the old interventions. Therefore, the care that they ensure might not help the patient with best up-to-date interventions (Ginter, Duncan & Sywne, 2018). Therefore, the organization has a vision that the intervention which they would circulate should be the most up-to-date that individuals can rely on. The mission also puts importance on the information and the services that need to be given to the service users to be locally relevant. The person accessing the website need to get the best service within his locality only where he or she can easily access or visit rather than getting referrals for services to places which cannot be accessed (Brwonson et al., 2017). Moreover, often there are complaints that the professionals who provide care and education to patients are often difficult for them to understand as they cannot understand many medical terms and technical jargons. However, the goals set by the professionals of these organizations make sure that the persons easily understand the information. Therefore, I feel that the mission is set on four important pillars that would help the organization to achieve its vision in a much easier ways helping the Victorians to get themselves educated and ensuring better lifestyle modifications for better health.
The organization where I work clearly states that it never intends to replace the care provided by the medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals (Betterhealth.vic.gov.au.). It has clearly stated that the information that is available on their site mainly aims in helping people understand and thereby manage their health and medical conditions. The organization has been seen to put much importance on the maintenance of its core values and virtues and never has been seen to promote any information or services on the sake of profit or as advertisements on the request of any stakeholders from private organizations (Gordon et al., 2015). We are strictly not for profit and this strategy is one of the best initiatives that had helped in gaining trust from the audience. They feel since that we have no demands of profits; there would be less chance for them to get befooled by us. This method had been one of the best strategies that the organization had used to gain trust and love from the individuals who believe the site.
Another important strategy that the organization has also used is the wide variety of information that the websites provide to the individuals. It not only gives detailed information about the disorders but also a wide variety of information that makes this site the first site that viewers visit whenever they face any issues regarding their health or knowledge. The vastness of knowledge attract the viewers like making people aware of the current and emerging health issues along with the different developments in the medical researches and practices (Khanna & Kendall, 2015). It also describes a wide amount of information of the national and state health priorities. They describe the findings from the evidence-based researches that ensure that the knowledge that the readers develop are reliable but recently published. The site is loved as it provides information on health that do not promote a particular product as well service and therefore tend to be free from advertising and is easily trusted by the readers.
One of the best strategies that had helped the organization to meet its visions and successfully complete its missions is the using of the quality assurance as well as approval procedure for developing and reviewing of the content. I believe that as the organization is has based its vision on providing the best quality information to the readers to make them live better quality lives, this is the best action they have taken to ensure meeting of the vision (Smith et al., 2016). They help in developing and reviewing the content that included consultations as well as inputs from different types of subject matter experts. The organization had their own editorial team who overview the content developed and then they are further refereed to the other areas of the Victorian Department of Health as per requirement. In order to meet their vision and align the missions to their aim, the organization had strategically included content partners who are subject matter experts who come from wide range of reputable Australian health, medical and academic organizations.
From the above discussion, it can be understood that the vision, which is developed by the organization, aligns with the betterment of the humanity. It ensures that the nation reaches to the zenith of success by the help of fit and healthy population. Therefore, their vision to develop the heath literacy of people of the state ensuring them proper lifestyle management for better quality life is extremely helpful for reduction of the occurrence of chronic disorders. Their mission as well as the strategies adopted to accomplish the missions had been developed and planned after thorough researches and hence the organization had reached the zenith of success.
