Organizations always intend to provide a flexible work environment to the employees so that they concentrate on enhancing their productivity. Agile workplace ensures flexible and productive environment with the help of which employees get the freedom of working where they want and when they want. Large number of scholars has made an in-depth analysis regarding the impact of agile workspace from their own perspective. It has also been evaluated that organizational productivity is getting hampered due to the huge range of workplace flexibility. This particular research proposal would focus on making an in-depth analysis about the effect of agile workplace on the overall organizational productivity. In order to evaluate the research issue the study focuses to use appropriate methodological tools based on which acquired data and information would be evaluated from different perspectives. At the same time, an argumentative literature review will be formed to in order present the views of different contemporary scholars.
The particular research proposal aims to evaluate the different aspects agile workspace for maintaining workplace flexibility. In last five years it has been observed that large number of business organizations belonging to different industries is not maintaining their performance level due to the lack of employee productivity (Allen et al., 2013). In this kind of situation, the business experts have decided to render some innovation strategies within the organization in order to overcome this crisis. Emergence of agile workspace within the organization is one of the major initiatives that most of the business experts have taken into consideration.
It has been observed from the performance level of business industries in last five years that business experts are not able to motivate the employees towards performing well. In this kind of situation, the revenue growth of the organization is getting hampered day by day. In order to overcome this crisis business executives decided to render flexible work environment within the organization. Employees are allowed to work at any location (Anitha, 2014). In addition, the employees can maintain flexibility regarding work hour as well. However, after the implementation of this particular business strategy the organizational productivity is getting hampered as well (Van den Bergh et al. 2013). This particular research proposal would like to focus on how the organizational productivity is getting affected after the implementation of agile workspace.
The primary aim of this particular research is to critically analyze the major effect of agile workplace on the overall organizational productivity. The primary objectives of this research are s follows:
The research questions for this research proposal are as follows:
With the dynamic process of business employees get least opportunities on work variation. An individual employee has to remain busy in maintaining a balance between customers demand and supply. This kind of continuous process of work highly hampers employee motivation and their performance level Ernst (Kossek, Kalliath & Kalliath, 2012). Implementation of numerous business strategies for motivating the employees has become one of the major concerns for business individuals. The overarching term agile workspace implies that employees are allowed to perform within the business in flexible work environment. Many organizations tend to reshuffle their sitting arrangement of the employees for rendering a variation (Hasle et al., 2012). As a result, employees get a courageous outlook for maintaining their performance level.
On the other hand, the business experts decide to relocate employees for providing enthusiasm. In many cases it has been observed that employees become tedious while working with the continuous and gradual process of business. Relocating employees in other places brings a courageous attitude for performing well. On the other hand, innumerable employees are there associated within the business industries who are appointed in other countries. Those kinds of employees have to face challenges while getting accustomed with the business environment and culture of different country (Jones, Burke & Westman, 2013). In that case, business experts decide to transfer that employee to the regional country for achieving good performances.
As opined by Lee, Lee and Kang (2012), working under agile workspace is possessed with some of the major disadvantages as well. Employees intend to misuse the flexible work environment that ultimately hampers organizational productivity. As per the opinion of Wubben et al., (2014), after getting a liberty regarding work hour an individual employee tends to show indifferent outlook for attending office in proper time. As a result, this particular employee fails to meet the given business target. It has also been observed that numerous efficient employees have shifted their location due to convenience. This particular factor has become major hindrance for maintaining organizational balance. Relocating workplace is apparently beneficial for an employee (Solnet, Kralj & Kandampully, 2012). On the other hand, it is also undeniable that organization has to face major challenges after allowing an individual employee for transfer.
Especially, employees associated with management have to play major role in rendering business success. After the relocation of that experienced employees the business experts have to find for a replacement. Amabile (2012) stated that the new appointed manager may not be efficient in controlling the overall process of business. Therefore, the emergence of agile workspace may not be fruitful for that specific business organization. In this specific part various scholars have presented their own point of view regarding the impact of agile work environment and its major risk factors that can hamper business productivity (Williams, Blair?Loy & Berdahl, 2013). This particular literature review provides an in-depth overview about both the positive and negative impact of maintaining flexible work environment within the business organization.
Research methodology is the systematic method of collecting appropriate data as well as information from different authentic resources. In this specific research positivism research philosophy would be used for making an acute observation on the research issue. In order to collect relevant data and information regarding the effectiveness of agile workspace the researcher would have to make an in-depth observation on how employees are getting facilities and benefits from the flexible work environment (Wilton, 2012). In addition deductive approach would be used for analyzing the data based on various case studies. Deductive research approach primarily focuses on organizational case studies. With the help of deductive approach the researcher would like to evaluate whether business organizations are getting benefits and facilities from flexible work environment or not.
The primary purpose of using descriptive research design is to evaluate the various factors of research issue instead of a mere interpretation. The primary purpose of descriptive research design is to show both the positive and negative aspect of research issue. In order to highlight the impact of agile workplace the research focuses to use descriptive research design instead of exploratory and explanatory research design (B?a?ewicz et al., 2012). Descriptive research design is sufficient enough for collecting appropriate data from different resources. Every single research methodology is incomplete without data collection method. For accomplishing a particular research work the researcher would have to collect relevant data and information from various resources. Data collection procedure is constituted with two major types including primary source data collection and secondary source of data collection method. Survey and interview are the two major types of primary data collection process where the respondents are involved directly for sharing necessary information regarding the research issue.
On the other hand, secondary data collection technique involves in collecting data from various books journals and magazines. This specific research would like to select primary source of data collection technique (Vischer, 2012). Around 50 employees from the business organizations would be selected for sharing their views. Survey questions would be formed with the help of which participants will provide direct feedback to the researcher. In order to accomplish the entire research work the researcher would have to follow a proper ethics and values. This particular ethical consideration believes that employees should not be forced for providing necessary feedback regarding the research issue (Shahidehpour & Marwali, 2012). The response of the participants should be spontaneous based on which the researcher would accomplish entire research work.
Conclusion:
The entire research proposal primarily aims to make an in-depth overview regarding the importance of flexible work environment for maintaining organizational productivity. While discussing this particular research issue some of the major disadvantages of agile workspace have also been highlighted. In order to highlight both the positive and negative impact of agile workspace the researcher would like to follow various methodological tools as well. With the help of primary source of data collection technique the entire research work will be conducted.
