The Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) regulates the health professionals such as nursing students, enrolled nurses and the registered nurses. The role of the nurse as advocate is to collaborate with doctors to find alternate solutions for treatment, educate patient about illness, explain the diagnosis to the patients, communicate with patients, family and doctors about the best treatment and represent the patients about the difference in the wishes of the patients to that of doctor.
