History of the Firm
This report was carried out on 24th of September 2017 aiming to know the some of the major problems facing Samsung Group as its reputation was slowly going down. These had come as a result of some consumers complains regarding poor services that have recently been noted though there before they were not there.

The chief method that was used to gather information was the administration of questionnaires whereby those interrogated gave their responses at free-will. These questionnaires were not limited to gender, age and departmental positions.
After identifying that the major problem facing the Samsung Group was scrambling for leadership, I proposed the following;
- A joint meeting be held to address the issue
- Everybody to adhere to the rules and regulations set by the group
- Everybody to show respect at each other.
- However, will be adamant to follow the rules be ejected out of the firm
The information contained in this report was obtained from Samsung Group and we are taking it to reflect what is probably happening in other similar or related firms across the world. The group has its headquarters at Seoul in South Korea. The group was founded in the 1938 by Lee Byung-chill.
After the Korean War in 1953 Lee formed profitable Cheil Sugar that was followed by textile banking and insurance businesses.

In 1961 regardless of the political coup, charges against of Lee illegal profiteering arose and in the year 1966 a family scandal of smuggling the company grew thereby by diversifying into paper products, department stores and printing. Lee in the year 1969, with the help of Sanyo firm established Samsung Electronics producing television sets, microwave ovens and other consumable products
In the year 1970’s The government’s policy of dynamic setting up of industries Samsung launched business in ship building, petrochemicals and aircraft engines.
In 1990 the company became independent producing and exporting goods under its own name. In the year 1983 Samsung began producing personal computers. In the 1987 Lees son Lee Kun-hee took control of Samsung and in the year1990 Samsung became one of the worlds’ largest firms in chip production,
1996 Lee-Kun was involved in a bribe scandal and was suspended sentenced for bribery.
Samsung became one of the world’s largest mobile marker
During my study these are the some of the questionnaires that I used to address the problem of misusing the oath of office and scrambling for powers within the company are;
- I was eager to know the overall number of workers in the company ranging from semi-skilled to skilled workers, their age and gender.
- How well the departmental heads recognized those working under them and in case of a dispute or misunderstanding how it was dealt with by those in power.
- What the reporting time was and its respective consequences in case of failing to adhere to the rules
- How the departmental heads viewed against each other and the other workers below the radar as well.
- If they had a common union or a Sacco where aimed at helping each other in case of an emergency or any other financial constraint.
Given the high reputation that the Samsung Group is relishing worldwide. However, there is increased pressure due to the resurgence of other companies selling similar products. As result the company’s reputation is slowly disintegrating. And these are some of the strategies that the Group is using to market its products.
- Instability: Due to the ongoing cold war between leaders wanting to lead every department has resulted to a slow but steady decline of production. Alongside this, the wrangles between other Groups workers frequently protesting over promotions has as well costed the group negatively.
- Irrelevance: Because of personal gains that the departmental heads desires to pocket. Every person associated to the company wants to ensure that his or her view is ultimately considered and implemented immediately. But they forget to take into consideration what is the demand in the market before making their supply. This has led to a waste of resources as some of the products are not required in the market.
- Unmeasurable goals: As the departmental heads continue to engage themselves in unnecessary fights over power they ends up setting goals that the company cannot achieve in regard to the timeframe they have set for them.
- Inaccessibility: Because of poor management the company’s leaders have been unable to open up strategies on how to reach a large number of people so as to increase the productivity of the firm.
- Invalidity: It was noted that the cold war between leaders has corrupted some of them to have a negative mentality and are thus producing some goods that are not valid. For instance, some of the products are now being manufactured without warranties which is a key so some sensitive stuffs like refrigerators.
- Inadequate Innovation: This comes as a result of increased competition in the market. whereas the company should be looking for strategies on how to curb the competition by making their products unique in the market they are instead busy scrambling for power and promotions at places of work thereby lowering the company’s productivity.
- Indiscipline: It is quite fortunate that most of the officials heading various departments as contained by the firm reports to work late. In case of a supervision being needed nobody is there to give directions on what is supposed to be done.

There is a very big aspect of self-centeredness amongst the departmental heads and those that they are leading. And because everyone one in the company is after his or her own stomach, The Group’s production is slowly but steadily declining.
Inertness amongst the departmental heads and other officials manning the firm: It is apparent that as a result of their ongoing wrangles over power and constant misuse of the office, the officials have become inert to time in that they cannot open up their eyes and see the latest trends in the market so that whatever they produce has a ready market other than producing so many goods only to pile them in stores.
- Gender inequity: It is wrong to have a mentality that women cannot lead any office. So the issue of discriminating women should be abolished and they be given an equal opportunity to run departmental heads besides respecting the decisions that they make provided they aims at the wellbeing of the firm.
- Lack of trust. It appears that the leaders want to own everything in the company and do whatever pleases them without consulting those below them. Those working under supervision are not given any chance to express their views regarding the wellbeing of the firm thereby expounding on its production. It is equally wrong that the officials are report at office at the time they want e yet no disciplinary action is taken upon them as stipulated by the firm’s disciplinary panel.
Making their products to look unique, long-lasting above all ensure most if not all of the products they produce comes with a warranty. Am certain that by guaranteeing customers with warranties upon the products that they buy. They will buy more knowing that at the back of it the security of their products is taken care of. the increasing dependence on a cadre of key workers with complex skills in problem solving and other high-level activities…( O’Neil, M .(2012)
- .Minimising the man power and using more machines. By eliminating much of the manual work and dedicating it to machines the cost of production will be sut short thereby increasing the productivity.
- Using environmental friendly raw materials. This will ensure that the raw materials used can be recycled and be used to make other finished products. This will be advantageous to the firm as it will have completed two tasks using by the use of a single raw material. s
The firm should expound on its already available market centres. By having various terminals across the globe will help the company reach large number of its customers most readily. This will cut down the expenses their customers use while trying to access the firms’ products. By doing so am contented that the company will for sure enjoy a ready market. “The category managers usually have a very good picture of the market and where the greatest potential is. They discuss the potential of the different offers and the ease of implementation within the team before they make a decision…”( Dumont, R. (2014)
4.Advertising their products through social media platforms, and even by doing mass campaigns to let the world know why their products are the best. This will help in creating public awareness and by doing so the firm will acquire more people purchasing their products hence uplifting the productivity graph.
5.The administration of the firm should fire officials who are reluctant to adhere to the rules and regulations as outlined by the disciplinary panel. Because the firm cannot prosper if it has some people pulling back.
- The departmental heads, staff members and who is anybody attached to the Samsung Group, it is vital that they put aside their personal interests, do away with the ongoing wrangles and work as a team towards the achievement of the firms’ goals because it is through unity and teamwork that will see the productivity graph rise.
- Discipline is the key to success if not so the firm may never achieve its goals. So the idea of top officials within the firm looking down upon those working under them should be done away with within the shortest time possible as in even non skilled workers can offer a substantial advice which the skilled may lack. It is the mandate of the leaders to show a good example to those that they lead, it is at this point that respect will prevail cross the firm.
- The firm should deploy agents in various towns across the world who will be monitoring what products the consumers need. This will help the company offer goods and services that have a ready market. With the availability of a ready market the productivity graph will rise up towards ensuring that the firm is meeting its goals.
- The firm should frequently train its workers who are mandated to look for alternative ways of making their products to be unique in the market as well as being more innovative so that the firm does not stumble when other similar competing firms comes up with a new technology in the market.
- The norm of men viewing themselves as superior beings as contrasted to women is outdated and women should be given an equal chance as men to lead various departments provided they meet the set standards.
- Let the officials alongside the staff members trust each other for the betterment of the firm. Because the goal of the firm remains paramount thus let not individuals develop the mentality of self-gain. This will ensure that everybody remains responsible and accountable for what goes on within the firms indoors.
- The panel in charge of discipline should stop pending low to top officials rather it should take appropriate measures to ensure that whoever does not adhere to the rules and regulations is dealt with accordingly.
- The firm should start a common Sacco where at the end of every month they shall agree on the amount to contribute to their Sacco so that in case of any emergency or one of their members is having financial constraints the Sacco comes to rescue.
