An industrial accident is a situation or an event that occurs unexpectedly in an industry that causes injuries to the people available there. An industrial accident occurs at the organization due to various internal or external factors (Negre 2021). The industrial accident causes a major delay in the work done by the employees of an organisation along with causing major impacts on the employees’ health. The industrial accident is an uncontrolled situation that is caused due to factors such as a person, an object or any radiation. Industrial accidents are Occured majorly due to unsafe conditions at the workplace that the employers and the employees ignore. Every year worldwide, thousands of deaths are reported the people due to the events such as an industrial accident at the workplace (Rodriguez and Ochoa 2021). In this report, various kinds of human errors in an industrial accident are unexplained, along with the measures taken to control industrial accidents worldwide. Moreover, this report will help find the root cause of these industrial accidents.
Mistakes made by humans or human errors in the industries forms about 90% of industrial accidents worldwide. Some major human errors are reported as the cause of major industrial accidents.
Due to the lack of a good level of training to be provided to all the employees in the industry, industrial accidents occur at a great pace. In some cases of industrial accidents, it is found that the employees are not aware of the usage of the emergency equipment that is used for safety (FitzPatrick et al. 2021). As it is observed that the employees while joining the industry are not provided with any kind of training about the safety protocols to be followed during any industrial accident.
Another major reason for industrial accidents globally is ignoring the safety measures at the workplace and continuing the work in hazardous conditions. The model that the emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers does not properly function in the industries gives rise to industrial accidents (Kolotilov et al. 2021). For example, the workers of an industry consistently work in hazardous conditions such as lack of ventilation and ignore these dangerous conditions at the workplace.
Due to the pressure of achieving the targets in time, the industry employees adopt the method of working fast that creates a condition of an industrial accident. This particular type of human error occurs due to the mistakes done by the employees at the workplace while working fast (Guan, Liu and Dong 2022). For example, in an industry where the employees are working on a fast-moving belt increases the probability of an industrial accident due to human errors that occur because of the lack of concentration on the work.
When the employee often industry gets tired or feels exhausted due to the high amount of work done, he tries to take a rest at the workplace that sometimes results in an industrial accident. For example, suppose an employee tries to sleep at the workplace due to tiredness. In that case, it results in the dysfunction of a machine or an object that becomes the reason for an industrial accident (Gnoni et al. 2022). For example, a worker who is feeling tired and exhausted because of the excessive amount of work done in the industry sleeps while working can create a dangerous situation for all the workers in that industry.
Industrial accidents worldwide are caused due to various factors, including internal and external, that occurs at a particular period And a particular place. Here are some major causes of industrial accidents that contribute to dangerous situations in the industries.
One of the most major causes of industrial accidents is the lack of safety devices in the industries for all the employees working there. The safety devices in the industries include interlock switches, safety mats, fire extinguishers and emergency exits (Nnaji, Jin and Karakhan 2022). For the health and safety of the employees in the industry, all this equipment must be in a proper condition to be used during any industrial accident. For avoiding the industrial accident among the workers it is important to install all the adequate safety devices at the workplace within the reach of all the workers and also in a working condition.
It is also observed worldwide that the workers in the industries work in a stiff and confined place that lacks ventilation. The increased capacity of the place or industry and the lack of proper ventilation result in a hazardous situation that affects the workers’ healthcare (Verma et al. 2022). It is extremely important to provide sufficient air and pure air to all the workers to avoid any injury or breath-related diseases.
These short circuits or the malfunctioning of the electrical equipment in the industry are one of the major causes of industrial accidents worldwide. These industrial accidents occur due to the usage of defective electrical equipment such as tube lite, fan and all the machines at the workplace (Solanki et al. 2022). All the electrical equipment in the industry requires continuous supervision and repair work to avoid any industrial accident due to this electrical equipment. The malfunctioning of electrical equipment in industry causes fire that result in the death of the workers and other chronic diseases.
The handling of hazardous chemicals used to manufacture objects in the industries needs to be handled with extreme care. These hazardous chemicals or materials include various kinds of harmful gases and flammable liquids such as petroleum (Wu et al. 2022). The improper handling of these hazardous materials results in an explosion or the leakage of gases that severely affect the workers’ health. The severe impacts only health of the workers in the industry that causes are skin burns, cancer, organ damage and death.
For the safety of the workers in the industry and to ensure the good health of the workers, it is important to adopt some prevention methods to reduce or remove industrial accidents worldwide. Here are some effective solutions to prevent industrial accidents.
In every industry present in the world, the proper safety measures need to be implemented to ensure the safety of the workers. For implementing the safety measures in the industry, it is important to follow the guidelines that the government issues regarding industrial accidents (Xiong and Tang 2021). These safety measures also include continuously supervising the working conditions in the industry and improving them to avoid any industrial accident. It is the responsibility of the owner and the management of the industry to supervise the safety measures on a regular basis so that the industrial accidents are reduced and are controlled.
Another major method to prevent industrial accidents is to provide adequate or proper safety training to all the workers at the workplace. Along with the safety training, it is important to demonstrate the usage of safety equipment to all the workers that are yous at the time of emergency of any industrial accident (Byrnes et al. 2022). Moreover, the workers should be provided with some knowledge about the machines used in the industry and the hazardous effect of these machines. For avoiding the industrial accident it is necessary to provide a high level of training to all the workers in the industry along with proper equipment.
To prevent industrial accidents, the industry’s layout or structure should be according to the standards or guidelines that the government issues. To ensure the health and safety of all the workers in the industry, the layout of the industry must be built by taking into consideration all the hazardous effects that are occurred due to industrial accidents (Lakshmi Narayan 2022). All the fire exits and emergency equipment must be properly framed in the layout. During the planning of the layout of the industry it is important to take care of the adequate safety measures for all the workers in the industry.
Conclusion
From the above discussion about the industrial accident that occurs worldwide, it is concluded that it negatively impacts the health of the workers. All the industrial accidents that occur need to be controlled by adopting various effective methods. Moreover, it is recommended that all industrial accidents be avoided on a priority basis by regularly supervising all the working conditions. To find a solution to the problem of industrial accidents, it is important to first analyse the root cause of these industrial accidents frequently. Once the root cause is identified and analysed, it would be an easy task to avoid or prevent the industrial accident and ensure the health and safety of all the workers at the workplace. As human errors hold a major share in industrial accidents worldwide, it is analysed that some effective training sessions should be provided to all the workers regarding the industrial accidents.
