I believe that each and every child is unique in their own way. Children have their right to be valued and their lives need to be characterized by being, belonging and becoming (Gould & Matapo, 2016). My philosophical ideas revolve around the belief that each and every child apart from being unique in their own ways, are intelligent, talented and curious towards their individual ways. These characteristics and traits such as the self-confidence, curiosity, better character serve as the tool or the instruments towards the success of the children for their near future. According to my personal insight, the learning phase of childhood is a joyful journey and each and every child walks through the procedure of learning and meaningful experiences. My personal values for the children targets on certain factors. These include fun learning, interactive sessions of games, educators who are passionate about the teaching the children and the collaborative partnerships of the community members and the parents of the children.
As early educators of the childhood education, I believe the teachers are well passionate and professional towards their roles and the responsibilities. I furthermore believe that enjoyment and education in a safe environment are crucial for each and every child. This is because these factors tend to affect largely on the children via their vision and the person they see around. I personally like the Reggio Emilia teaching method and her approaches towards the child learning. The approach of the Reggio Emilia is inspiring and innovative towards the early childhood education since it values each and every child as capable, strong and resilient in nature (Vatalaro, Szente & Levin, 2015). I believe that the approach is extremely beneficial since it considers every child to be rich and fulfilled with knowledge and wonders irrespective of any diversities. The philosophy of Reggio Emilia teaching approach focuses mainly on the self-directed, experiential learning on the basis of the principles of responsibility, respect, and community. The approach is mainly applied to the early childhood education and the preschools, but I personally think this inspiring approach can be adapted in the home by the parents as well for the benefit of their children.
Each and every child has their own set of requirements and needs. To address their requirements, it is important for each and every educator to concentrate over their own abilities, interest and needs. I as an educator feels constantly confronted with the changes the alteration that tends to occur for the new students, knowledges, technologies, classroom arrangements, social responsibilities and new administrators. Some of my interest includes arts and crafts, drama and speech. I have keen interest towards music. Some of my major abilities includes helpfulness, patience, passionate attitude and respectful nature towards others. I believe that education is the only way towards the development of the community and the individual and for this the right guidance is required. I aim to follow an self directed study model for the professional background I seek to work. This will furthermore help me to take decisions and steps for proper enhancement of the cognitive growth, confidence, reflective practices and skills related problem solving of the students. Another of the method to follow is the peer coaching method that helps in the identification of the developing features and abilities without the pressure of being evaluated and judged (Kochanska, 2017). One of factors that I feel I should improve is my shyness and the difficulty to solve problems. I have a very soft voice and have the tendency to get too much lenient with the children. Though I am very much passionate about my career, my introvert nature and the lack of proper communication skill with the fellow colleagues is one of the biggest weakness that I really need to improve for my long-term improvement in the career for educator.
I have a keen interest towards the profession of early child care educators. I believe they wear different hats of both responsibility and professionals. From educating and caring young child till addressing any sort of obstacles during their learning process the career of an educator is of many folds. Some of my personal targets and goals for becoming an efficient child educator includes providing the safe and healthy environment for the young children, growing liking and love for the learning process and enhancement of proper instruction and soft communication skills. I aim to absorb all the best resources and knowledge that are available so that I can influence the children via caring and improving their long-term development and growth.
I always wanted to become an early childhood teacher or an educator after the birth of my child. I saw how children feared their first day at school. While dropping my son at school one day I came across a child crying for grabbing the attention of his parents and his teachers in the tender age of being playful. My decision for becoming an early childhood educator became firm day by day as I saw a similar scenario every day while dropping my child at school.
I am currently studying for a diploma course in early childhood where I was taught a lot of theories and the ways to observe the behavior of young children. I furthermore learned ways to effectively communicate with the children and their parents and mostly the special children. One of theory I liked the most in my curriculum is the skinner theory of learning. The skinner theory by B.F. Skinner is mostly based on the concept that the learning is the function of changes in the overt behaviors (Crain, 2015). The theory illustrates and evaluates that the changes in the behavior of an individual are mainly the results of the individual’s response towards the events that happen in the environment. One of the key elements of the skinners theory is the concept of the reinforcement. The theory also focused on the impact on establishment and maintenance of behaviors.
I have a dream and a target to work as a full-time child educator after the completion of the diploma course I am pursuing currently. I dream to have a classroom filled with more outdoor activities and less of class. Furthermore, I aim to develop a healthy atmosphere in my classroom that will be accessible and welcoming in nature, where the children can be their own selves, they can feel comfortable and will love to come to the school. My concepts of philosophy of education are entirely based on my learning from the theories and I aim to fulfill the theories that I have learned in my module through the pathways of my carrier.
The profession of childcare will bring lots of challenges for me towards the experience with the children. I believe that becoming the partner for learning and giving encouragements to the children for finding or identifying their answers to their queries is the main responsibility of the childhood educator. My aim of becoming an efficient child educator includes some of the relevant goals and targets that include learning supports, provision of materials and activities, the supply of developed environment, the devotion of adequate time for exploring, playing, interact with the children. It will be also essential for me as a childhood educator to manage the requirements of the classroom and engage in effective and soft communication with the parents of the children. Some of the top qualities that the educator must have include passion, respects, perseverance, sense of humor and flexibility.
Reflective journals
In a review of an incident of the fall down of a 4-year-old boy in the toilet, I believe it is the lack of the educator towards the maintenance of health and safety of the child. A child falling down in the toilet raises the ethical conducts towards the student (Burroughs & Barkauskas, 2017). I believe that it is the duty of the professional educator to initiate constructive effort towards the protection of the children from any of the conditions that threaten the health of the safety of the child. Furthermore, it is the duty of the child educators to remember that they should never expose the student to disparagement. In the scenario of the fall of the 4-year boy, I think the educator firstly should take the child for some first aid treatment. Furthermore, if it is found that the child is injured badly he or she should be taken to the nearby clinic for further treatment. The parents of the child should be notified and the school must take proper actions according to its policy. This scenario may result in some tremendous outcomes. The child may get injured badly or have an internal injury. Furthermore, injury in the head of the child may lead to permanent harm to the health of the child. In this scenario, it is the duty of the school to take some of the legal actions towards the educator for his or her negligence and reluctant attitude towards the child.
Conclusion
Education is an essential part of our life. It is the duty of the early childhood educators to develop the love or the liking for education in the child’s mind with proper assistance and instructions. I want to be a child educator and I am passionate about my profession.
