The major purpose of this paper is to conceptualize deception in enterprise to provide a framework that presents typologies that permit categorization of the frequent forms of deception from recognized case studies. Hence, each study is then categorized to fit the typologies seen as the most appropriate.The paper explores the use of deceit by means of businesses using Hopper and Bell’s typologies of deception with countless case studies. The studies provide examples of the following typologies: crime, masks, lies and unlies.
This paper was useful as it provided different categories of deception with cases seen throughout the last couple of decades. The fact that this author could classify the cases into categories helped my further understand the point the author was trying to make, that not all deception is created equal. The author gave facts about the cases and then explained why it fit into that category or categories, helping the reader understand how the categories play a role in determining unlawful deception.
This paper gave me a further understanding of deception and was is considered unlawful, by taking some of the most well know cases from the business world and breaking down each case and placing it in a category.
The author helped me understand that although there is a right and wrong, there is also many forms of deception that fall into gray areas and when preformed there can be a 50-50 chance that it might be unlawful as seen through the eyes of law, depending on your victims.

This paper made the reader understand that not all deception is out to just hurt the consumer. It helps the reader differentiate between harmful deception and deception used to get the upper hand on other competitors. The author gave great examples of times when entrepreneurs have used some forms of deception to protect them from large predatory companies trying to push them out of business.
The author definitely achieved his goal as i know understand that sometimes it is in ones best interest to decide other competitors as to not get pushed out of the industry. This paper gave me an understanding of why some companies use deception against their competitors, it helps keep some of the pressure of from large corporations. I felt like it helps me make a point that not all deception is bad and not all forms are used to try to debilitate another, they just use these forms as a way to survive in industries mainly dominated by a handful of large companies. It has definitely made me see some forms of deception differently and in some cases even as a great strategy.

It is different form other books or papers because it gives you information on why deception isn’t bad when used against others who you know want to hurt your interests.
The author does not try to push the reader into deception practices but wants them to understand that in some situations, it can be useful tool to have on your side. The author ultimately wants the reader to be able to catch the forms of deception as to not fall victim to them, something i believed the author accomplished. This book was useful to me, it helped me understand that even if you have no intention of using deceptive tactics, it is useful to know them in order to figure out if your competitor is deceiving you. This chapter helps me by giving me several strategies that can be used to analyze competitor strategies to determine if its a ruse with the intention to throw its competitors of its true intentions. The author has helped show me that although one can see all deception as ethically incorrect, there are strategies to help you from not getting sidetracked while trying to beat out your competitor in your industry. The teaching of negotiations poses a precise dilemma for business faculties in the region of ethics. It is commonly everyday that negotiations often involve deception if now not outright lying. Yet such behavior in other components of commercial enterprise activities is accurately condemned.
While fraud is unlawful in all aspects of enterprise including negotiation, moral standards we may ideally like our corporations to adhere to are unrealistic in the vicinity of negotiations. In confronting the issue of ethics in enterprise negotiations, we would better serve college students by way of generating an honest and practical dialogue of the position of mendacity and deceit in human conduct in wide business practices and negotiations specifically. This paper was a useful in that it explains the problems with trying to teach negotiations in negotiations, an important aspect of a business. This article is unique by how it tires to inform the reader on strategies for effective negotiation, and how some of those strategies can be seen as unethical but are appropriate in at the negotiation table.
It seems like the is not trying to be biased by explaining both sides of the argument and leaving the reader to determine if the strategies are ethical to them or not. Overall i felt the author accomplished his goal with the information he provided in this paper, although it is unto the reader to determine if his strategies are useful without affecting the issue of ethics. This was a great paper to read as it helped me understand that various forms of deception can be utilized without breaking the law. I was unaware that certain forms of deception could be used legally. I felt like this paper was veery helpful as it gave me a better understanding of the topic of deception from a professor stand point.
