A Doctors Waiting room Free Essay Example

As I pushed open the door and entered the doctors waiting a smell of antiseptics and medicine filled my nostrils; I looked around and saw that the room looked strangely green. As I sat down on the blue chair, which was a little uncomfortable, I remembered the last time I was in the waiting room, I was around five years old, looking rather funny with a green wax sticking out of my nose.

I looked around the waiting room and was quite surprised to see that it was quite merrily decorated.

Seeing the warm and welcoming d�cor of the waiting room some of the fear of the coming injection drained out of me. There was a huge purple poster on the wall in front of me with ‘5 a day’ written on it in big, bold, yellow writing and pictures of five different fruits. Another poster on the wall to my right which had a large picture of the digestive system on it.

There was also a model of a skeleton that was being attacked on by two small boys around about three to four years old. Their mum who was busy talking to the receptionist ran to them and pulled them back into a small play area behind me.

It was strangely quiet in the waiting room the only sound was from the doors closing every five minutes or so, then there was the frequent cough of the man sitting beside me who didn’t look to well. I then realised that there was also some very quiet music playing, It was a very slow calming melody that made me want to go to sleep.

My eyelids started drooping slightly…then there was a call fro the receptionist “Mr Johnson you are being called to room six please, Mr Brian Johnson”.

The man sitting next to me suddenly jumped and looked up and then got up slowly from his seat and walked into one of the rooms to my left.

It was starting to get slightly boring, I looked around at the rest of the people that were left in the waiting room. How could these people just sit here for so long and do nothing?

I looked around, some of them were sleeping, but most of the people were reading magazines. There were some magazines on the table beside me. I picked one up, it was a magazine titled ‘Choir and Organ’ and looked boring enough looking at the front cover so I picked up another called ‘Farming UK’. I opened it, the first page had a small article on ‘Weed burning’,

And then is stopped reading, reading the magazine was making me feel sick, My appointment time was two o’clock, it was ten minutes past two and they still hadn’t called my name. I would feel much better if I got over and done with the injection, irritation came to me as the clock ticked away, half past two, forty minutes past two…….and then finally my name was called. I got up and made my way to room eight. The nervousness was building up inside me like a huge crescendo. My legs felt strangely as though they were made of marshmallow, and then I reached the door to room eight; And pushed it open…
