In my opinion, culture is essential to learning as it plays an important role not only in conversing and receiving information but also in determining the thinking process of individuals as well as groups. A pedagogy that acknowledges, reacts to and celebrates fundamental cultures offers full equitable access to education for students from all cultures and prepares students to live in a pluralistic society.
Culturally responsive pedagogy is based on student centered approach to teaching wherein the student’s specific cultural abilities are categorized and nurtured to inspire student’s achievement.
As from my information, culturally responsive pedagogy accommodates three purposeful dimensions: the personal size, instructional size, and the institutional measurement.
The personal dimension is a manner regarding an emotional and cognitive factors whereby teachers must interact their teaching abilities in order to make it more culturally responsive. There are two components in non public dimensions. These additives are self minored image and self-exploration. Self minored image is the most critical part of the personal measurement.
This is due to the fact that teachers need to be honest in examining themselves in phrases of attitude, perception, values as well as their closing intension so that it will create a extra welcoming and secure environment for the students. Self exploration is the possibility that is created to “discover their private histories and reports, as well as the records and cutting edge experiences of their college students and families.”
In cultural responsive education, student’s variation as well as their commonalities are stated, it validates student’s cultural identity in study room practices and instructional materials, this helps students to know about the variety of the arena around them, motivates students to grow, it challenges students to strive for excellence as described with the aid of their potential and it make college students in becoming socially and politically aware.
Last but not least, it is vital that instructors need to be culturally responsive with a purpose to show fine values and be an example to students.
