This report is going to highlight the different software that is available to be able to create my game by evaluating what they are, how they are used, the advantages and disadvantages of using them. I will also be highlighting the hardware that is to be used to create the game by evaluating the uses, how is it used, and limitations, capabilities, the cost and the average size. Lastly I will be highlighting the gaming platform that will be used to create the game by evaluating the uses, limitation and capabilities.
This will be all so that I am able to use the most appropriate software, hardware and gaming platform for when I am creating my game. Also this report is going to go through the different hardware products that can be used to create the game by explain their uses in creating and testing games, capabilities, limitations, cost and average size.
Scratch is a gaming software targeted for children as it is very easy to use and simple to follow instructions to create a game.
To use scratch you drag bars that have pieces of information like the time, the direction and the movement that is to be made. This enables the character to move and make actions. The advantages of scratch are that it helps young people to think in a creative way, work with other people and reason systematically. Also scratch is a place where children can collaborate on projects and share their work online and it can be used by people from all ages.
This software is used in over 150 countries and available in 40 languages which will enable students who are bilingual or those who are learning new languages to be able to use this system. One of the major advantages is that this software is completely free which means that you can use it for academic purposes and personal uses. However the disadvantages are that people can take what you have created and use it as their own if the user does not credit their scratch project. Also if there is not a lot of skill from the people who are teaching this software, then the people who are creating a piece of gaming will not have the skills necessary to create a successful game.
The software can be used on a desktop by being able to be used on chrome, edge, Firefox and safari. However internet explorer is not supported by scratch which means that it cannot be used on internet explorer. The software requirements are Chrome 63 or higher, Edge 15 or higher, Firefox 57 or higher, Safari 11 or higher, Mobile Chrome 63 or higher, Mobile Safari 11 or higher. Internet Explorer is NOT supported. This software would not be appropriate for my game because internet explorer is not supported by scratch so I would have to find other desktop areas to create my game. Also because the software is mainly for children, the finished product may be too young immature for the target audience is 20-50.
