In my personal literacy narrative, I have chosen to include the most important literacy sponsors that have had influenced my growth as a reader over the years. I would like to dwell on the positive impact of my parents, books and educational institutions on my personal literacy. It goes without saying that each of the aforementioned factors has had an impact on my development as a literate person to certain extent. At the same time, my interaction with people and books as the literacy sponsors is still of high significance to me now.

My literacy sponsors taught me the necessities of life and helped me to become more literate. Thanks to the positive impact of my literacy sponsors, education and self-development are among my key life goals nowadays. First of all, it is hardly possible to overestimate the role of books in my life. As a book lover, I do enjoy reading classical novels and science fiction books. I am deeply convinced that without books literacy and culture of our society would be either impossible or defective.

They are an integral element of my personal literacy as well. Books keep everything that mankind has accumulated over the centuries of its existence in various fields. Since early childhood, I got familiar with different kinds of books and some of them still accompany me throughout my life. Books on different subjects become my directories in various fields of study. I remember that I have always been drawn to classical novels. Some of the novels I had read are still my constant companions that help to understand the difficult questions and solve the most important problems.

Historical novels help to look at the present from a broader perspective and understand it in better way.

In my family, I have constantly been confronted with the scientific literature. Science fiction opens a window into a new unknown and tempting world. Such books liberalize and elevate my mind, as well as develop my thinking skills and enrich imagination. 2 I respect all kinds of books and find them extremely important for literacy of virtually any person. I feel that fiction books enable me to make amazing journeys into their unique world. While reading a novel, I live with the characters, rejoice in their happiness and suffer with them, looking forward to a happy end. Books teach me to be kind, merciful and compassionate.

They often turn out to be my best friends in the moment when I have to find a unique solution. I believe that when reading any book, I become more literate both orally and in writing and gradually become a more interesting and erudite person. Since childhood, I saw that books were usual and necessary in our family. I would like to mention that for my parents, especially for my dad, reading has always been a favorite hobby. Partly due to this fact, I have always received positive emotions while reading.

If both of one of the parents often read, the likelihood that their child will want to receive positive emotions from this activity is very high. On the other hand, if parents do not read but require a child to read too much, the reading can become a field of resistance between the child and his or her parents. Reading has always been an easy and pleasant leisure for my parents.

I am immensely grateful to my father who was an influential literacy sponsor and still has the biggest impact on me. I am used to see my dad who is a cardiologist working on his own development and expanding his knowledge in many fields. We have a family tradition to read a science book every month and later discuss some of its points together.

I find such kind of pastime to be truly useful and engaging. When it comes to my institutional literacy sponsors, I have to confess that school has had less impact on me when comparing to books and my parents. However, I enjoy being a college student and strongly believe it will greatly contribute to my personal literacy. Nowadays, I do 3 realize how important it is to be a well-educated and literate person as well as a high-skilled professional. To conclude with, personally for me, literacy is a kind of art and one of the most valuable assets any person should possess.

I find it truly pleasant to communicate with well-educated and cultured people whose speech is correct and figurative. I strive to become a more literate person in order to be able to elevate myself above the everyday life and enjoy my existence to the fullest. I tend to associate my personal literacy not only with the ability to read and write without mistakes but with spiritual richness above all. In this regard, I am very lucky to have such literacy sponsors as my father and the books I love. Thanks to them I always feel encouraged for my educational and developmental pursuits.
