Berer, M. (2017). Abortion Law And Policy Around The World: In Search Of Decriminalization. Health And Human Rights, 19(1), 13-27.
This paper aims to provide a general view of laws and policies on abortion around the world, giving numerous country-based examples. It explains that the complex laws and limitations surrounding abortion do not make any legal sense. What makes abortions safe is when it is universally affordable and accessible to women. From this perspective, there are few existing laws that are fit for this purpose. However, the road to change those laws is long and difficult. To achieve safe abortion, advocates need to study the political health system, legal, juridical, and socio-cultural realities surrounding existing law and policy in their countries. The biggest challenge is to decide what is needed to achieve to legal abortion and work together with legal experts, parliamentarians, health professionals, and women to change the law, so that anyone with an unwanted pregnancy who seeks an abortion can have it, as early as possible and as late as necessary.

As with other visible global-health issues, unsafe abortion threatens women’s lives throughout developing countries, which account for nearly all unsafe abortions. Haddad, L. B., & Nour, N. M. (2009). Unsafe abortion: unnecessary maternal mortality. Reviews in obstetrics and gynecology, 2(2), 122.
Every year about 42 million women worldwide with unintended pregnancies decide to have an abortion, and nearly half of these procedures are illegal. About 68,000 women die from unsafe abortion yearly, making it one of the leading causes of maternal deaths. Of the women who survive unsafe abortions, 5 million will suffer long-term health difficulties. Both primary methods for stopping unsafe abortion face social, religious, and political obstacles, especially in developing countries, where most unsafe abortions happen. Women and health care providers need to be educated about birth control and the availability of legal and safe abortion, and women need better access to safe abortion and post-abortion services. Otherwise, women facing the financial burdens and social stigma of unintended pregnancy and believing they have no other option will continue to risk their lives by undergoing unsafe abortions.
This source is related to my other sources because unsafe abortion is a serious matter and it is causing women to get hurt in the process. The source will be helpful in my essay because women need better access to safe abortion and post-abortion services and need to be educated about the importance of birth control and legal abortion facilities. Otherwise, women will continue to risk their lives by undergoing unsafe abortions.
