The purpose and expectations of a doctoral student prior to the doctoral journey create an impact to their leaning experiences. The focus is on the end result of the doctoral journey and not on the process of going through this journey. The expectations of a doctoral student in accomplishing this purpose creates an emotional stress on the doctoral student. The doctoral students come with a higher level of knowledge mastery.
