The overall objective of this research work is to find out whether motivation plays a key role in achieving firm’s objectives with regards to employees in Khafji Joint Operations. Other objectives will include; finding out the various motivational approaches to employees that can be utilized by the management, to find out the best ways of linking rewards to performance, and to find out how an organization can best evaluate the performance of a motivated workforce. (Sparrow and Hilltop1994) Research Questions Based on the objectives of this study research questions will include the following:
Does motivation play a key function in attaining organizations goals or objectives.
What are the different ways of motivating workforce in an organization.
How can management link rewards to performance in its effort of trying to achieve stated objectives. How can the management evaluate motivational structures put in place and rate them as effective or non effective? Benefits of conducting the research This research will not only benefit Khafji Joint Operations but it will be applicable to all those organizations who wish to attract and retain a motivated workforce that can accomplish stated objectives efficiently.
It will provide focus and insight to the management of Khafji Joint Operations as well as portraying to the management the importance of a motivated and satisfied workforce in an organization. ( KJO 2005) Limitations of the study Because this is an exploratory study it will mean that more time will be required to carry out the research in order to find the relevant information that will reflect the issue of motivation as a key force to achieving results in an organization. Also another limitation is that of availability of funds because the study will require the researcher to reach to a wider population through interviewing many respondents.
(Dale M 2001) Literature Review Employee motivation is the key to the profitability and competitive success of any company in the current business world. Research has shown that a motivated employee does his job well and in return the company’s performance is greatly enhanced. Employer and employee relations are very important in ensuring that a company realizes its mission. In fact, it has been researched and found out that motivated employees usually translate to satisfied customers i. e. with motivated workforce they do their tasks well thus retaining and attracting more customers.
Hence, with proper policies and administrative skills, managers can create satisfied employees. Employee motivation may take different forms that include the following: The first factor is of job security which is the primary driving force an employee centers on while working, it is the ability to retain the job for as many years as possible. Personal organization and family budget go in line with job security concerns. When an employee is confident of his or her job security at the workplace, his performance is far much better than a case where he or she is not sure of being retained in the next year.
