Discuss about the Advantages & disadvantages of the cloud computing for business.
Cloud computing is the process through which the use of information technology can be divided in to two trends. The first is where the level of efficiency of the information technology is powered with the help of computers in the modern world with the help of software and hardware resources. The second trend is where the level of agility of the business can be increased that will help in providing a competitive tool so that the analytics of the business can be done intensively with the help of computers in a real time scenario (Armburst et al. 2010).
According to Armburst et al. (2009), it is a distributed as well as a parallel level of system of computing that helps the computers to be inter-connected so that the service-level agreements (SLA) can be done with the help of negotiation of the consumers as well as the service providers. It can be said that there is a large pool of virtualized resources that can be accessed and used so that the services can be developed in an efficient way. These resources can be configured in a dynamical manner so that the load can be used for utilizing the resources. The use of cloud computing also allows in increasing the capacity so that the resources that are available to the business can be infinite in nature. It provides an interface that is based on self-service and most of the resources are virtualized. The use of cloud computing also helps in developing the tools that will result in scaling the applications that are required within the services.
The use of cloud computing will help the companies that are smaller in nature to cover their cost of entry in a lower manner. This will help the business, as they would be taking up the applications that are based intensively on computer applications. The use of the computations allow large amount of power to communicate within a shorter span of time by using the resources that are available to the organizations. It also provides a better opportunity to the third world counties who do not have the proper knowledge in using the information technologies in a proper manner. The use of the cloud platforms will help the services of information technologies to use the resources that were otherwise lacking within the organizational system by deploying proper services that are related to information technology (Avram 2014).
The use of cloud computing will also allow in accessing the resources that are related to hardware, as the investment of capital will not be required. This will help the business in gaining a faster time to access the markets where they want to operate. The expense that the information technology will incur within the business needs to be treated as operational so that the cost of operations can be reduced to a great extent. The adaptive infrastructure that is present with cloud computing helps the different users to use it at a simultaneous manner along with the different purposes for which it can be used. The users of cloud computing are mostly separated and with the help of the technology they can be able to join the system in an efficient manner. The arrangement of the applications will help in increasing the load of demand for the system so that the economies of scale can be increased as well (Baciu 2015).
Another advantage of cloud computing is that it will help in lowering the barriers that are present in the process of innovation. This can be seen as most of the start-up companies can take the help of applications that are online such as YouTube and Facebook so that the companies can be marketed in a proper manner. This will help the companies to increase its attraction in the market due to the large attraction that can be covered by the companies with respect to the customers (Brodkin 2008).
It will also help the businesses in making their services efficient with the help of cloud computing. The use of the application will result in getting the information that are accurate in nature so that the services can be provided with respect to the demands of the clients. The resources that will help in computing the applications can be managed in a proper manner so that the requirements within the business can be deployed at a faster rate. The primary goal of using cloud computing is that it will provide the resources in an efficient way so that the services can be scaled up with its applications. It will also result in regulating the load of the clients by providing the service interaction at a minimum level (Mell and Grance 2011).
The use of cloud computing will also result in opening up of new possibilities that are present with the applications that are being used within the organization so that the services can be provided in an efficient manner to the customers. Some examples of this technique would be the use of interactive applications that are present in the mobile phones, which responds to the user within the real time from the sources that can be trusted. The processing of the resources in a parallel batch enables the business to take advantage of the power of processing and analysing the terabytes within a shorter period of time. It also allows in executing the complex processes of parallel analytics to be done in a transparent manner so that the programmers will be able to identify the issues that are present within the system. The intensive applications that are present on the desktops can be offloaded in the cloud so that the processed data do not get lost and can be recovered when needed within the business system (Mishra et al. 2013).
The use of cloud computing allows benefits such as saving the cost along with the mobility benefits so that the efficiency level of the application can be increased. It also allows the organizations in shifting the loads towards the local computing system so that the load can be shared evenly within all the computing system that are present within the organization. The use of Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) along with Software as a Service (SaaS) and others can be used for model of subscriptions and storage of rents as well (Sether 2016).
RDSH can be used for developing multiple desktop sessions with the help of cloud computing so that it can provide more benefits than just using the computing system that is traditional in nature. It can be accessed with the help of internet or intranet, which makes it affordable as well as productive so that the use of the software can increase the level of convenience among the users. The desktop can be turned in to a mobile, which will help in providing services to the users on a regular basis. It will help the employees in generating the invoices of the products that are being purchased by the customers in an efficient manner with the help of this software (Truong 2010).
The SaaS can be used for transferring the data from one computing system to another with the help of cloud computing, which makes it easy to store and transfer the information in an easy manner. It also allows the users in saving more of the cost and provides better benefits due to its level of mobility in the cloud computing system. Another major reason is that it allows in providing more security to the organizations with respect to the information that is being stored. Most of the theft with respect to data takes place in an internal manner, as the important information are mainly stored within the business. This allows the hackers in getting a better opportunity in hacking the system that is present whereas cloud computing helps in storing the data in an external manner so that it can result in increasing the security of the system and the organization as well (Baciu 2015).
Apart from the benefits that cloud computing provides, there are many disadvantages as well. One of the major issue with respect to this system is privacy and security, as there is a great level of uncertainty regarding the security levels that are present in the system. This uncertainty has resulted in the lack of experiences with respect to security, as the privacy regulations are not met in a proper manner, which will help in protecting the information of the individuals who are working within the organization. It is important for the organizations to protect the information of the individuals so that it does not leak the major information pertaining to the main ideals that are present within the organization based on which the employees are working to increase the level of efficiency in the market (Apostu et al. 2013).
The main benefit that cloud computing provides has to be done with respect to the high speed of connectivity. Without proper connection and the unavailability of electricity may lead to the possibility of another organization in developing a better product. The access to this system is open, which may result in breach of security if it falls in the wrong hands. It may thus lead to the development of new products due to the globalization era that is prevalent in the modern world (Rittinghouse and Ransome 2016).
The portability and interoperability of the information between the public and the private clouds are a broad adoption of the cloud computing system within the enterprise. Most of the companies have taken up measures that has resulted in standardizing the processes, system along with the data through the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning system. This has enabled the infrastructures to be called in a proper manner so that the connections that are integrated can be managed in an efficient way. The application has to be used with the help of the traditional technology, as it is not independent in nature (Sajid and Raza 2013).
The use of cloud computing has a higher level of cost of establishment than the return on the level of investment that has been done. It is important for the organizations in balancing the costs with respect to the use of cloud computing in the long as well as in the short term. The values of investment that will be done by the company needs to be analysed so that it can help in providing better rate of return to the organization (Kaur and Rai 2014). There are many hidden costs that the companies need to incur such as recovery cost when any disaster takes place, insurance of the data that may get lost along with the modification of the application. There may be loss of data when there is some disaster that may take place within the computing system. This may result in incurring a heavy amount for the data to be restored in a proper manner. This may also result in the diseconomy of the scale due to the loss of the data by the company, which may hamper the level of efficiency among the employees. The use of the system may result in the development of a newer system that will be cost-effective in nature so that it can reduce the risk of transaction costs, as the solutions that are present may change on a constant manner (Pearson 2013).
The adoption of the cloud computing system may result in changing the information technology system that was being used in the organization, as the new development needs to be incorporated within the system. This may result in the loss of data as well. The use of the new interface may also result in providing training to the employees so that the information can be updated in the system in a new way. The systems analyst has to write the reports in a new way so that the applications can be changed within the system so that the people can gain knowledge regarding the use of it. The solutions have to be matured so that it can help in controlling the risks that are related to information technology within the organization (Apostu et al. 2013).
The flexibility of the organization decreases when using cloud computing, as it provides limited control on the execution and functioning of the infrastructure that is present within the organization. The policies of management will also be limited, as the level of deployment will depend on the customers as well due to the complex behaviour of the services and the data. The level of dependency within the organization will also increase, as the vendor systems may sometimes become difficult in integrating from one platform to another cloud platform. It is an expensive and complex application that needs to be met by the organization, which will increase the level of vulnerability with respect to the privacy and the security that is present within the organization (Sether 2016).
Conclusion
It can therefore be concluded that the use of cloud computing will help the companies in gaining an advantage in the market. It will help them in storing the data in a proper manner so that it can be retrieved whenever they want. It will also allow the companies in reducing the load on the computing system, which may cause the system to malfunction. The companies will also be able to use the services in integrating the system in a proper manner so that the work can be done in an efficient way. However, the use of the cloud computing may also result in giving rise to negative effects within the organization. The data that is uploaded on the internet can be extracted by other person who may use it to harm the organizational policies of the company. The internet connections need to be faster so that the cloud computing system can work in a better way. Without proper internet connections, there are chances that the important data may get lost from the internet.
