write about the topic for 200 words:Apply concepts from the US Air Force Readings or the 3 Women CEO Readings and apply then, using detail to a situation that you are familiar—work, school, church, etc. Replied the message below for 100 words: I was intrigued to read the Women CEO reading as I am a woman graduating this May with a business degree. As I enter corporate America, I know the odds are against me. My gender is significantly underrepresented as mentioned both in our textbook and this reading. “In the United States, women make up almost 50% of the workforce, yet only 10% hold executive positions in business” (Chapter 2). A woman’s income continues to “lag behind that of men at about 77% of men’s income”. In 2013, there were only 20 female CEOs in the Fortune 500 companies. Looking at the 4% of women in those positions, they are given less authority, and less decision-making power to that of a male counter-part (Chapter 2). And this is the world I am about to enter. Except, I am already a part of it and fully aware that my glass ceiling exists. I can see it all around me when my male peers are being offered salaries of upper $60,000-$70,000 for the same job that I was offered $50,000 for. This is not an exaggeration, no. Take my two friends for example, both supply chain management majors who have taken virtually all the same courses, both had internships in the industry. He was offered a position with the company starting at $80,000. She was considered “not qualified” for the same exact position.I appreciated the articles passion for uplifting women into senior positions. There is a need and a desire for a stronger woman presence. I think Sri Lanka is very inspiring as they have one of the world’s highest number of women leaders at 21%. Still less than a quarter, but progress compared to the embarrassing low number of 9% in the United States. If I am interviewing for a company and all the executives are males, I immediately think there is not a chance for me to grow in this field. CIMA’s goal is to “beat the odds” and close the gap. After all, men are expected to provide for their family in a monetary way while women are expected to provide for their family in all aspects.
