Archetypes are found in many stories and in many works of literature. An archetype is a universal symbol that brings out a deep response in everyone. The good vs. evil archetype is seen in many action and adventure movies and stories. The hero archetype is where a person goes on a journey and faces challenges along his/her journey. The hero archetype is seen in Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone, Sundiata, and Spider Man.

Harry has a call to adventure which is the first part of the hero cycle. He first learns about him being a wizard when Hagrid brakes down the door to his house and tells him about Hogwarts. This shows the hero archetype because the first step to being a hero is having a call to adventure. Harry has a special weapon which is his wand and it was the brother of the wand that killed his parents.
This shows that Harry is a hero because true heros have a special weapon that only they could use. Harry has an ultimate challenge which he faces along his journey. His ultimate challenge is Voldemort which Harry fights and wins. This shows the hero archetype because along the hero cycle the hero faces an ultimate challenge. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone the hero archetype is shown.
The hero archetype is seen in the story Sundiata. In Sundiata, Sundiata, has an unusual birth.
When he is born and growing up he could not walk. Sundiata overcame his problems for walking and like a hero he shows that he did not want to give up on something that was difficult to overcome. Sundiata has a helper that helps him throughout the story. His helper is Belle Feseke and he was Sundiata’s griot. This shows the hero archetype because the helpers/mentors are apart of the hero cycle. Sundiata also has a special weapon. Sundiata uses a rooster claw against Souomaro Kante. This shows the hero archetype because most heroes have a weapon that only they can use. In Sundiata the hero archetype is seen through out the story.
In Spiderman the hero archetype is shown through out the whole movie. Peter Parker aka spiderman has a traumatic event that led up to his quest to become a hero. Peter’s uncle dies by a guy shooting him but little did Peter know that it is the guy that Peter passes to let him have the elevator. This is showing the hero archetype because if Peter’s uncle did not die then Peter would have never used his power for good use. When peter is young his parents died and had to move and live with his aunt and uncle.
Peter went to the realm of the known to the realm of the unknown when he moves in with his aunt and uncle. This is showing the hero archetype because Peter has a tough time growing up and he has to move away from his own land just like superman had to when he was just a baby. Spiderman has to face an ultimate challenge which is the Green Goblin. Spiderman is facing his biggest enemy but it is also his best friends dad. This shows the hero archetype by Spiderman facing his ultimate enemy like every hero has. The hero archetype is seen in many parts of Spiderman.
In Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Sundiata, and Spiderman the hero archetype is seen. Archetypes are used all through out literature and other writings. There are many archetypes that are seen in every movie and stories.
