The study identifies the effectiveness of information system on Vodafone, the famous telecommunication service provider. Currently, the company has been focusing more on developing the information technologies for improving the business operational process. The study will explore the industry profile and the product or service features to analyze the importance of using information technologies. Furthermore, the study will also identify the use of the different technologies that are helpful enough in developing the efficient operational process within an organisation.
The telecommunication industry in UK has been facing the fierce competition due to the enormous development of the technologies. The innovative broadband sector is distributing the digital content. The advancements brought to the telecommunication industry are improving the information system in a significant way (Havlark Burton and Ahrens 2014). With the help of the advanced technologies, the UK telecommunication industry has been developing the information systems. In today’s world, the effective network management is considered as the increasingly significant aspect that is much complex (Giachetti and Lanzolla 2016). The monitoring process of network, maintenance of the customer service, and the testing of the network elements are the core activities in the telecommunication industry in UK. These networking services are quite effective enough in developing the telecommunication functionalities. However, Deryugin et al. (2015) mentioned that it is necessary to gain the adequate knowledge regarding the network efficiency. The companies like British Telecom, Ofcom, Vodafone, and Virgin Mobile group have the dominant places in the UK telecommunication industry.

The company is much focused on the value based approaches for the structuring the prices for the products and services. It is to be mentioned that Vodafone generates the revenues from the international, national, and roaming calls. The SMS services also include the multiple media, pictures, sound, music, video, MMS, and voice call services. The company keeps the concentration on satisfying the customers’ needs of improving the sophisticated handsets that compliment their lives. The company has even set the partnership business with Samsung, RIM, and Google.
The increasing development in the information technologies is establishing the high performance standards in the global businesses. Merrill, Whelan and Williams (2015) identified that in order to drive the growth of the operational excellence, it is necessary to eliminate the traditional methods. The efficient organisations use the smart techniques to utilize the employee networks that help in improving efficiency, reducing costs, and spur innovations. The collaboration process undertaken in an organisation is often utilized to make the employees more focused and engaged towards performing the organisational functionalities in a cohesive way. The current report based on the collaborative process highlights that the technological development is improving the streamlining business process, ensuring workforce effectiveness, and reducing the enterprise costs (Damant and Knapp 2015). However, on the other hand, the IT professionals often try to improve the IT department to be the strategic business partner. In order to pursue the operational excellence, the collaborative management often tries to pay attention towards addressing the challenges by depending on the managerial tools.
The traditional tools used for the collaboration were the email, wikis, discussion groups, file share, database, conference calls, and instant messaging. However, currently, the collaborative tools are modified in keeping pace with the advancements of the information technologies. The emergence of web 2.0 has brought the new flow in the technological collaboration (Loudon 2016). Currently, some of the social software is added to the traditional method of collaborating process. The added features are described further:
It is to be notified that the collaboration technologies are not only digitalizing the traditional business functions, these are introducing many of the innovative procedures. Companies always engage their potential workforces to perform faster, smarter, and in a productive way. The embedded collaborative technologies are thus engaged to achieve the determined organisational goals. The development of the effective technologies is transforming the knowledge into action that is essential for creating the brand value (Zenaide and e Castro 2015). It is noticed that the information system needs more improvements in order to prioritize the employees. The employees need to gather the adequate knowledge regarding the operational process within the organisation. It is necessary to mention that the collaboration technologies are easily available in the marketplace. Many of the business vendors offer a growing number of these collaborative tools, such as Facebook. Many of the companies have already improved the technological features to create the significant brand identity.
The telecommunication industry is even benefitted by using the information system for the collaboration process (Chin, Fan and Haines 2014). The implementation of the value added network services is facilitated with the help of the advanced technologies in the market. During the operational activities, it is necessary to keep the employees updated about the business necessities and processes. Some of the companies even use the collaborative software that is designed to involve people for achieving the similar goal. According to Battistella (2014), the collaborative software is wide concepts that are connected to the computer supported cooperative work (CSCW). Another most important factor is the skillfulness of the associated workforce. It is essential for the workers to obtain the necessary knowledge regarding the use of these technologies. The workers need to develop their understanding regarding the utilization of these advanced technologies to secure the information system. The customer satisfaction is the essential part for the sustainability of any business. Keeping the customers updated about the innovative feature can be helpful in engaging them for long run. Hence, it is essential to use the proper technologies for ensuring the secure future of the business.
Innovation brought to the business model implementation is much beneficial for the business companies to take the active participation in this competitive market. Similarly, Vodafone is also looking forward to utilize the advanced technologies to strengthen their position as the global leader in telecommunication industry. During the year of 2008, the occurrence of the financial crisis affected the position of many of the telecommunication companies in UK. Even in the year of 2012, the businesses were struggling under huge pressure since the innovative business models were introduced in the market (Chin, Fan and Haines 2014). Therefore, the business leaders of Vodafone concentrate on the development of thee latest technologies to implement the innovative business models. Vodafone has introduced many of the innovative technologies to connect with people worldwide.
The current era of the super mobility is reflecting the necessity of communication with the potential stakeholders. Meanwhile, there is the drastic increase found in the social networking, emailing, and texting through text messages. In the year of 2011, the combined effectiveness of tablet and mobile devices overtook the contribution of the desktop computers. By the year of 2015, the mobile internet reached up to almost 15 billion devices that connected almost 2.5 billion people around the world (Chen and Zhao 2014). It was estimated that almost 1.3 million mobile users could connect from the remote areas. Hence, the era of super-mobility has eventually become the normal trend currently.
Vodafone is even using the mobile machine-to-machine technologies. The most renowned car BMW has the facility to connect the cars with the mobile devices for communicating and supporting the drivers. If any problem is identified, these devices will connect to receive the better solution regarding the issues. Vodafone has paid the most of the attention on developing the internet networks. The value added services for the potential customers are quite effective enough in gathering the supports for the long run of the business. According to Davenport (2013), the adequate use of the internet devices are leading towards the digitalization. The different telecommunication services have revitalized and revolutionized by the use of the latest technologies. Vodafone will display the remarkable technologies in outside countries as well. It is reported that along with many other telecommunication companies, Vodafone is paying the closer attention on implementing the telecommunication billing process in an innovative way (Chin, Fan and Haines 2014). The telecommunication billing process was used to done manually since ages. However, the development of the innovative technologies has cut down the cost and the efforts to maintain such billing process. Vodafone is applying the discounts and in-voice for some of the potential users. The company is dealing with AMDOCS, which helps Vodafone to provide the billing solution through different information systems (Bloom et al. 2014). In order to bring the unlimited growth in the telecom services, the company has implemented such technological implications.
The major goal of the company is to transform the multiplicity of the system into a combined and real-time billing solution under client-server architecture. In today’s world, the effective network management is considered as the increasingly significant aspect that is much complex (Bangerter et al. 2014). The monitoring process of network, maintenance of the customer service, and the testing of the network elements are the core activities in the telecommunication industry in UK. This simple and faster system is better than the traditional method of billing system. It is even much helpful in providing the benefits of the integrated system to both the company and the customers (Raeng.org.uk 2017). The software is much useful and allows the company to expand more specifically. The growth of the business volume would be helpful for achieving the pre-determined objectives and maintaining the consistency in the faster growing business sector.
Conclusion and Recommendation
The obtained idea from the above study highlights the necessity of the technological advancements in current era. The use of the skilled method is also highlighted much significantly. However, it is essential to recognize the beneficial implementation of the latest technologies that can contribute growth to the business process. On the contrary, the technological implementation can lead to the failure management if the associated workers are unable to utilize these latest technologies in a proper way. Even though Vodafone is introducing different business model and the innovative information systems, it is necessary to pay the attention towards the training process of the employees. The associated employees need to derive the adequate knowledge about using these technologies in a proper way.
Another most important factor of implementing these latest technologies is to structure the budget in a significant way. It is necessary for the organisation to keep the focus on the resource planning. The investment of the sufficient resources is essential for the business for developing the advanced technologies in the business operational process. The key to achieve success depends on the capital investments and the profit amount returned from the gathered revenue. Hence, the resource planning is essential for this technological development.
Another major and significant implication for implementing the latest technologies is to develop the efficient human resource management. The efficient human resource management manages the workforce and motivates the workers to improve their professional skills. It is necessary for achieving the expectation parameter of the potential customers. In fact, with the help of the skilled performance parameter, the company can even secure the competitive position in such recent developed market. Similarly, Vodafone needs to concentrate on these factors for adopting the innovative technologies and securing the competitive position of the business in the telecommunication market of UK.
