Scotland is a country that has made lots of steps towards the strengthening of its healthcare system. Currently, there are many policies, frameworks, and legalisation which provide standard guidelines on the operations of healthcare providers. The approach for delivering adequate treatment plan, counselling plan, health enhancement plan along with any educational plan would require the essential knowledge and skills of multiple disciplinary professionals. It is important for the any organisation to develop the adequate approach for enhancement of health of the people or service users. In many educational institutes, the approach of after-school activities is developed that would provide the adequate support to the students for their enhancing the skillsets and overcoming any challenging factors that may hinder their process of learning (Mora et al. 2020). The paper would discuss the adequate approach and strategy that would include the collaborative working as the major key elements for success. The paper intends to shreds some lights on the concept of collaborative working within the organisation and Scotland in general.
Collaboration has become an acceptable mode of operation in Scotland because of its significance. It has greater impact on most of the organizational culture, in that it helps so many organizations in maximizing employee knowledge and harnessing their capabilities and this is because information is passed easily when staffs communicate and do things together meaning collaborating in whatever they do (Merschbrock et al. 2018). It has a greater impact if its across departments and with this culture there is always a positive impact on the performance of the company. Another effect that collaboration has on the organization is that it helps in saving time, it also promotes better communication among staffs, by encouraging of exchange and sharing of knowledge. The organizations that embraces collaboration do achieve their goals quickly because all staffs are given a platform to share their opinions and forward their ideas. (Castro Garcés and Martínez Granada 2016). Therefore, for practicing collaborative working, it is also essential for applying trust as well as respect for developing the willingness as well as empowerment that would develop the human relationships with the service users.
In Scotland, there are so many organizations that have embraced the collaborative work in the social service sector and the organization are both in national and local level, these multiple agencies or organisation have provided the essential support for enhancing the practice of collaborative working. An example of a national organization that has used collaborative work is
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Royal College of General Practitioners, and the Scottish Medical Training (SMT). The organizations have a policy that governors them and it’s the act of working together by embracing diversity and accepting every one’s opinion to ensure that they achieve the organization goal. The other organization too embraces collaborative work in offering social services to the community and this they do by ensuring that the community are getting the best from the services.
The Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU) is considered as national organisation supporting the collaborating practices. PMDU is considered as an effective approach within the social service to implement collaborative working specifically for addressing the accident as well as emergency department (The World Bank 2021). Apart from national organisation, there was national organisation known as Local Area Agreements (LAA) that would focus on setting the targets. LAA would implement the adequate strategic partnership among the local and central government to practice the collaborative working within the social services (Institute for Government 2021).
The concept of integration and collaborative working would focus on developing as well as bringing every employees or staffs together to work and accomplishing the shared goals and vision. The approach of integration as well as collaborative practices are considered as the key element for delivering the overall construction of excellence. The knowledge and key areas that are essential for developing the excellence within the practice would include the early involvement as well as common processes and tools (Henderson and Trede 2017). It is essential for the organisation or service providers to implement the strategy of developing long-term relationships as well as modern commercial arrangements that would assist in developing the integration and collaborative working. Therefore, it has been understood that the major purpose for developing integration along with collaborative working within the practices would develop and construct the excellence in providing the services (Ismail, Srewil and Scherer 2017). Integrated working is also considered as an effective approach for supporting children within the centre that would also focus in understanding and identifying the needs as well as meeting the overall factors that would enhance the life of children.
There are various and different types of multidisciplinary teams and it is completely based on the services or needs of services that the multidisciplinary teams would focus or developed. For instance, for addressing any advanced diseases, the multidisciplinary team would include associated individuals such as dietician, psychologist, social workers, occupational therapist and many others like counsellor (O’Donnell et al. 2020). Along with it, multiple identified individuals would have various responsibilities and roles for better outcome.
Considering the case study of Jack, there was the implementation of collaborative working as there were multiple associated stakeholders or individuals for developing the multi-disciplinary approaches. The professional team included social workers, educators and tutor for Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) for delivering the adequate approaches and outcome for developing collaborative working. The data protection act of 2018 was developed in order to control as well as save the overall personal information within the organisation along with any service providers. The act would directly impact the policy of the agency as the act states that the information provided by the service users are delicate and vulnerable information (Legislation.gov.uk 2021). The agencies need to implement an effective data protecting approach as any misconduct or breaching of information would result in unlawful act and negligence or carelessness towards the service users.
Referring and considering the case study of Jack, it was found that the approach of collaborative strategy was developed within the practice. Another example is provided one-on-one delivery of counselling as well as meeting the needs of the patient or service users. Therefore, the collaborative working would be beneficial for Jack by implementing multiple recommendations and purpose for monitoring as well as promoting the approach of integrated services. It is essential and importance that the organisation or the management to develop certain strategies that would focus on developing the learning activity for the child or Jack. The operations are aligned to the legislations such as the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act.
In the case study, there is an existence for the potential opportunities that would help in developing as well as delivering the overall health outcome. Jack is still lacking in accomplishing his overall needs and hence, parents have also requested for the development of adequate treatment plan that would enhance the overall delivery of health concern. Therefore, it has created opportunities to implement the collaborative working to identify the gap areas and develop the adequate assessment and services that would enhance the overall health concerns or challenges. All the identified issues and challenges are considered as the social care.
The opportunities would assist in improving the services for the service users and develop the benefits for developing an effective integrated approach for the child. Sharing and implementing the skillsets, knowledge along with the multiple range of good practices would help in enhancing the overall delivery of services to the service users.
Effective and adequate leadership is essential that would assist and develop the overall strategies and key elements that would enhance the overall delivery of outcome among the service users. In leadership, there are five effective levels and the initial factor is level 1, it would focus on the leaders in entry level and lowest level of leadership. The second is level 2 that is considered to focus on the relationship (Nguyen et al. 2018). Colleagues and peers would follow if they develop adequate relationships with the leaders and hence, it is an approach of giving permission to the leaders for leading and supporting them. The third is level 3, and with this type of leadership, the leaders would focus on production and continuously motivate people. They would develop the strategy and keep a track record of the staffs. The colleague would get adequate support in developing adequate performance and accomplishing the desired goal. The fourth is level 4, also known as development of people. In this type, the leaders would focus on meeting the mission of the organisation, and the staffs following such leaders would get essential added bonus and other competitive benefits. The last is level 5 and it is considered as the highest level of leadership (Maxwell 2021). The leader would focus on improving themselves since the entry level and would also work on developing the leaders that would develop other associated leaders. Hence, it has been understood that colleagues and staffs get adequate approach and benefits for developing the overall outcome.
Effective leadership is essential as it would help in providing support as well as motivate staffs in accomplishing the overall goals. Therefore, the two most effective leadership would be transformational leadership style and followed by the participative leadership style. Both the leadership would help in developing the innovative practices as such selected leadership style would assist staffs in development of creativity. Both the leadership style would focus on developing person centred care as well as enhancing the overall health and benefits (Sheshi and Kërçini 2017). As they are focusing on implementing the potential change and participate with the staffs in identifying the challenges, factors and gap areas for the overall outcomes.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that collaborative working is considered as the most effective and efficient elements that would help in enhancing and delivering an optimal level of deliveries. That is why the government of Scotland recognizes it. Hence, the paper has also discussed the most effective and adequate approaches for imposing the leadership skills.
