Bristol is the seventh largest city in England outside London and has a considerable development and growth in recent times. The strategy to be employed for the improvement of a facility is the methods devised and the plans formulated for the development of the facility (Bristol.gov.uk, 2016). The strategy seeks to employ measures to improve healthcare in the city and improve the living and the social carte conditions in the city (Gov.uk, 2017). The city seeks to include the corporate plans in the local healthcare facilities to provide better health care and decrease the trend of premature deaths in the city. The healthcare in Bristol has developed over the years reducing the infant mortality and increasing life expectancy. The corporate strategy employed the Bristol city council emphasizes on improving the overall healthcare of the City.
The environment for an organization stands for the stakeholders benefiting and dependent on the organization. The internal and the external environments of an organization greatly affect the strategy planning and implementation in a society. In the case of the corporate plan of the Bristol City Council of developing and implementing measures of improvement these factors play an important role (Mohammadi et al. 2014). The internal environments of implementation of the strategy are the employees working for the organization and the infrastructure of the organization. The external environment in the strategy planning of an organization like the Bristol City Council is the beneficiaries of the plans implemented and the factors affecting the implementation (Bircher and Kuruvilla 2014).. The external environment includes factors such as economy, the political factors, technological factors and social issues.
The effects of the various factors are:
Name |
Factor Influence |
Effects |
Political |
The political factors are important for the acceptance of the new healthcare laws and allocation of government fund. The political literacy is important among the youth for the success of the strategies. |
The lack of the political support makes the strategies weak, as they cannot be implemented without the support from the infrastructure. |
Economic |
The public health program will cost around £34 million, which will be borne by the Bristol City Council in partnership of NHS. |
The lack of the economic support to the program will make it a failure. in the current scenario after BREXIT the economy is the most important for the implementation of this strategy |

The lack of acceptance of a new strategy among the society it is targeted to will lead to the failure of the healthcare of the organization. |
Technological |
The technological factors are the implementation of new technologies for the improvement of the healthcare in the country. |
The technology helps by making the processes easier but there are instances where older people who cannot understand technology makes an issue |
Ecological |

The ecological factors cause different issues in the health which needs to be specially focused on by the Healthcare program by the Bristol City Council. |
Legal |
The implementation of the corporate policies in healthcare will need various legal duties to be fulfilled by the employees of the city council. |
In case of the legal duties not being fulfilled, the Bristol city council cannot enforce the reform properly. |
The corporate strategies are devised for the effective implementation of a number of plans in the Bristol City. The different strategies devised by the Bristol City Council includes the plans of the national health departments and the city’s own plans for the improvement of the healthcare and the social care in the city (Bristol.gov.uk, 2017). The various plans devices by the Bristol City Council includes the Adult care partnership board which devices policies related to the social care and well being of the adults in the society providing them with necessary healthcare facilities. The introduction of the CARE Act 2014 greatly changed the face of healthcare facilities in the country (Blumenthal and Collins 2014). The Bristol Safeguarding Children Board helps in providing children with necessary health support and safeguards their rights. Bristol’s SEND strategy is a program to provide welfare and educational facilities to the people with special needs and disabilities in the society. The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) takes in to account the pharmaceutical needs of the population and manages the fact that the citizens have enough availability of the pharmaceutical materials to meet their needs. The different strategies devised to properly implement these policies through the corporate partnership need a set of strategies to be followed (Bristolccg.nhs.uk, 2017).
The implementation of the plans devised by the Bristol City Council needs a number of strategies to be properly implemented in the society. The communication strategies include proper devising of a proper channel of communication between the different channels within the organization. The goals to be achieves by the strategy’s implementation, processes of implementing the plans and the individual employees role in the implementation of the plans to improve the healthcare facilities (Van der Kolk and Schokker 2016).
The strategy has better competitive advantage over the previous public sector strategies as it uses the corporate sector approach, which is more conducive to succeed in the modern society. Over the time change from the public sector, organizational structure ensures a better partnership with the private sector organizations, which ensures better support. The various advertising methods may include informing them through press releases and advertising them on the local TV and radio channels. This will help in devising strategies by getting proper information about the acceptance of the strategies in the market and a feedback of any improvement required in their implementation and functioning.
The strategy needs to address the basic issues in the healthcare and social care in the society providing improved healthcare facilities to the citizen (Bauer 2014). The major issue that the strategy might face is the people adjusting to this change from a public sector work and functioning environment to the corporate organizational behavior. The new strategies also seek to provide support and healthcare facilities to the people with disabilities and the dependent senior population in the society. Extra emphasis is given on the care of children and women to improve their living conditions and decrease the infant mortality rate in the society. The motive behind the improvement of the healthcare and social care facilities through a corporate method is to have a better reach and social acceptance of the strategies and methods.
The SWOT analysis of the strategies implemented by the Bristol City Council is done to understand its effectiveness in the society (Furnival et al. 2017).
Strengths · Model catering the whole society · Emphasizing on healthy living for better lifestyle · Care and support for seniors and children |
Weakness · The strategy does not take into account the economic divide. · The health care strategies do not focus on mitigating the cause of spread of disease. |
Opportunities · Improvement of the living conditions in society. · To mitigate the spread of diseases by improving lifestyle. |
Threats · The diversity in the ethnicities may pose issues in the implementation of some strategies. · The workers’ efficiency may give poor results. |
The different issues posed by the society in this regard should be mitigated such that the social acceptance of the strategies to be applied should be complete and universal. To imply the strategies the in depth study of the cultural acceptances regarding healthcare facilities needs to be conducted so that they may benefit the masses (Beecham 2014).
The various issues that must be taken into consideration while mitigating the problems are the ones presented by the society. The issues faced by the minorities should be mitigated such that they may accept the social changes that are brought forward by the Bristol City Council for better healthcare (Gov.uk, 2017). For Example, some ethnic groups may not take the help of the medical services to treat mental disorders, as they see it as a supernatural interference and often these cases lead to deaths (Cooper et al. 2013). In such cases, the groups should be convinced to try medical facilities for the treatment of the patients. The strategic plan for better implementation of the healthcare facilities should include the curbing of the secondary factors causing healthcare issues. A large number of congenital disorders are because of the unhealthy lifestyles of the people. Moreover, a number of unhealthy habits are responsible for the old age problems like Alzheimer and Parkinson’s. Preventive measures of these diseases with the encouragement of a healthy lifestyle will reduce the healthcare costs and make it far reaching.
Conclusion
Thus, through the strategy analysis the various plan for the improvement healthcare and the medical facilities in the county. The health and social care facilities do not limit themselves to the medical assistance but focus on improving the overall lifestyle in the society. The different strategies focus on developing a sustainable society with proper healthcare facilities will include the convergence of ideals of all the ethnicities and diverse population into one to make a healthy society. The healthcare facilities in Bristol are thus conducive for society and helps in developing the society providing adequate healthcare and social service facilities.
