This is because profit of an organization is reflected by the size or nature of organization and through company sales amount. Thus, all the procedures that are used within organization are fundamental for their success. Thus, the team of management requires managing the defined application in business operations term. Some of the aspects that are associated with business operations are risks, concerns regarding environmental safety, organizational culture and technology.
For example, organizations that work under oil industry require environmental hazards observant that are associated with the dealings. Thus, in this case we bring the British Petroleum and John Browne Organization analysis. In this paper, evaluation on critical success factors are aiming to wins the organization. Thus, regarding the management term that is referring to the activity within company that has potential for improving the organization wins or enables the organization for attaining its mission and aims. Thus, this is the activity required for success of organization. Based on the case study evaluation is done on CSF factors. Additionally, it determines the risk culture, project merits and company’s readiness for British Petroleum and also evaluates the company’s justification. Once the exploration of the findings completed, three major recommendations to project risks will be created. (Leidecker, 2011)
The important drivers that are needed by organization to be success focus required to be on CSF (critical success factors). Any project in the organization does not believe on CSF’s roles than that project is rendered to failure. Thus, these CSF’s factors also regarded as KRA’s or Key Results of Areas and they are important element for the function. These important elements should undertake in the correct manner so that organization can meet their business operation aims, goals and mission. (Zwilling, 2014)
The success of the project evaluation is determined by organization’s identification for CSF (critical success factors) and thus creating the reference point for the project purpose or objective. These variables when utilized as the reference point may help the colleagues to comprehend the most imperative segment and all things considered may help people to do their undertakings inside the pertinent setting which has the power of guaranteeing each individuals works exclusively for the general focuses of the organization (Zwilling, 2014). Every project or business has their own distinctive CSF’s that functions organization advantages. Below are the four kinds of CSF which contain:
The British Petroleum Organization case brought numerous critical success factors that thought to enable the organization from disseminates their operations within Oil Company. In this particular case below are few critical success factors that have observed are:
CEO John Browne contains the organization’s management under several critical success factors that enabled the organization for reaching the point where they stand presently. The major concern and critical success factors for organization is the safety towards environment. Second one is the code of conduct for employee’s that focuses on numerous operations like corporate policies for social responsibility statement and governance all were executed by organization CEO. Another critical success factor in the organization is the social responsibility which covers numerous aspects that enabled the organization to meet the compliance, management, environment, health safety and aims. It also covers the society or client’s ethics and compliance for all the team members. These are the major critical success factors that propelled the organization for dissemination of their operation around world.
Furthermore, British Petroleum oil industry focus on numerous factors that is advantageous to whole global family and organization. The organization observes all the policies that are sustainable by considering the safety towards environment and their employee’s safety for gaining the profit. (Baines, 2009)
There are some drawbacks which has experienced by the British Petroleum Company apart from their main successes. Every organization has few challenges in their operations but the main aim of the organization is to make then progressing. Also, the organization is facing some issues with the safety. For example, explosion happened in the organization where numerous lives of the people lost and some are injured which seen as the worst accident which company faced ever. Thus, the organization safety culture has become questionable. There has been created numerous reports based on the above incident that indicate that safety culture in the organization was a compromise subject matter. Thus, we can state that organization’s step while observing the safety culture towards environment is found to be very weak. Thus, organization failed in observing the culture of the risk within its refinery and need some efforts and time for implementing the changes for safety. But, these efforts go in vein as the major focus of the senior management of organization is on making profits and efficiency. Organization made promises to the employees for their safety but they failed to execute them for a longer time to get it implemented once suggested. The organization safety risk culture is a compromise subject. For example, organization is failed in investing towards safety risk culture thus the degradation towards safety is resulted within refinery.
The organizations need to focus on the safety of environment as well as people. The integral part of the organization is the safety culture which improves the steady relationship with environment. The sustainable policy that is essential in the organization is an Employees’ safety. With the help of the above changes, organization has able to raise the production amount for longer time. The organization British Petroleum has few plans for investing extra for performing some research for generating hydro power with the help of renewable segment, power and gas. Thus, organization has managed in creating the alternative energy that has proficiency in lowering the carbon energy that has been produced by it. John Browne the organization CEO has clear and established vision and thus helps the team by briefing about it. Thus, with the help of him, team is able to create the British Petroleum’s vision and has proficiency to take the business of organization beyond the production of petroleum. Thus, organization makes sure that the employee’s and environmental safety will be considered along with the increase in profit and oil production. Organization should not be called as profit and oil oriented company. (Bailey, 2009)
Organization success is dependent on the environmental and employee’s safety. Employees motivate themselves to work for the organization if there are policies that are beneficial to them. Also, there should be some policies that make their work environment safe and at risks time, organization should have proper plan and try to minimize or eliminate that risks. Once the CEO of the organization John Browne resigns, the organization rendered for their future as the management or senior leaders are lacking with the productive vision. Organization is successful because of his guidance and support thus there has been hindrance occurred to the progress of the organization due to his resignation.
The safety for employees and environment safety will consider as the most effective and important for the organization British Petroleum. This vast taken after the incident happened in which various lives lost and many got injured. This incident occur because the senior management of the British Petroleum organization overseen the risk causes damages to the facilities related to environment and people. Thus, organization therefore executes the rules and regulations that are well established to avoid the risk and such incident in future such as explosion.
Thus, to prevent the organization in future from such incident, they are needed to create or develop numerous policies that will monitor and govern adherence towards employee’s safety and environmental safety. Additionally, the organization will be needed to build the policy whose task is to observe the safety towards environment and people and make sure all operations work properly.
There should be regular check-up on the problems or challenges that might occur in the solution provided by the organization. (Hillson, 2007) This regular check-up policy will make the senior management of the organization to be attentive for all activities in case of issues. They should be ready for any of the emerging challenge to the solutions that are implementing by the organization. In the above incident, issues have realized by the senior management of the organization but mitigation plan did not consider and follow properly and effectively.
The British Petroleum organization should implement or develop the information system that will be well established and will enable the details of all organization members to be updated. This new information system will motive employees to have positive relationship with all team members and thus important information will get reached to each within limited period.
