Choose a current issue in your workplace/business, such as merger/acquisition exercise, change in location or office premise and change/introduction of computer system such as HR system. This exercise gets you to figure out how you would design a large-scale change intervention program in relation to this issue. Give consideration to the following issues:
Introduction
In order to cope with the level of competition, it has become necessary for the companies and organizations to adopt an effective large scale intervention program. Such interventions are intended to be introduced with the prime motive of creating a fair opportunity for the staffs to work and improve upon the quality of performance that is required for the successful operational activities within the company. The decision to introduce a change in the functioning of the organization depends upon the future goals of the company and the expectations of the top management from the staffs, post introducing the system. Operations development interventions have been designed with an intention of improving the performance of the company and provide better assistance to the staffs for increasing the performance. In this case, the management of the company adopts and implement an effective plan that is required for improving the intervention process. It also includes the changes that will improve the democratic values that will be helpful in making the necessary changes for the company. In this case, the trust factor is focused on along with the power equalization. Both the factors are quite important as it will help in implementing the changes that are considered to be necessary for the successful business operational activities (Bennis, 2003).
The term of large scale interventions has been referred to as the full sized group of staffs, stakeholders, and others involved with the business who come together to work for accomplishing the tasks of the business. The interventions are initiated from the top management level of the company. This has been done with an intention of analysing the plan and evaluating the effect of the outcome that will determine the performance of the company. Outcomes are measured in terms of the increment in the performance and the involvement of the people in the working with the company. The challenges and limitations are analysed with an intention of finding a solution to the problem that might exist at the time of execution of the plan. An attempt is made on the contagious effect and the efforts that need to be implemented for supporting the system on a long term basis. The process includes introducing an inquiry system, future search, real time strategic changes, and others. All these factors are quite important for the successful conduct of the intervention plan and determining the procedure. If no proper steps are taken to introduce the system in an effective manner, then it might become quite saturated, which one of the biggest concerns for the people is working for the management of the company. this is one of the reasons the steps and the procedure that are involved with the system has to be analysed in the best possible manner as the challenges can be easily worked upon. It is important to include a change in the whole system, as this will provide the company with the expected results. In this process, the following factors are taken care of –
Through this method, the management of the company build up large scale intervention process that will make the process simpler and quick. Apart from this, the required information is collected from different sources that will help in accomplishing the set target in the right manner. The actions and the steps are discussed at the time of conducting the meeting, and both the factors are quite important for the successful conduct of the process. This is considered to be a part of the sustainable commitment, which is necessary for carrying out the business activities (Bridges,2007).
This report has been prepared on the Malaysia airlines. The company provides reliable and acceptable services to everyone. Mission of Malaysia airlines is to provide low cost airlines services that would provide low fares. Malaysian airlines or MAS has been known for quality services and has won several awards for rendering the best services to the clients. The company has introduced the number of fleet sizes and caters the needs of the passenger and cargo services. There are several factors that have affected the performance of the company. However, the challenges were overpowered due to the introduction of new and better technology that included introducing changes with the information system. The system for IT is quite important for the successful operational activities of the company. This is one of the reasons the process needs to be selected in the right manner, as it requires funding and resources. Thus, the business strategies needs to be analysed and the changes that are required for implementing such factors needs to be evaluated before introducing the requirements. The prime objective of the Airline Company is to render the best possible services through which the needs can be handled in an effective manner. An effective information technology is required to make the changes that are required for catering the needs of the clients that includes price determination, creating fare models, deciding upon the type of services, and others. Through an effective IT system, it is also possible to introduce safety measures that will increase the goodwill of the company. It includes providing customer safety, baggage safety, and others (Brinkerhoff, and Crosby, 2007).
MAS intend to reduce on the cost of the operational expenses and as the profit earning margin for the company can be increased. In order to achieve the said target, it is necessary to introduce the changes that will help in accomplishing the task. This is one of the reasons, the large scale intervention method is considered to be quite important and essential. Apart from the reduction in the costs, there are many other reasons for introducing the plan for the large scale interventions. It includes adopting different methods for increasing the productivity for the company, providing precise information, speeding up of the cycle time that is required for the product development, clarifying the directions, improving the moral grounds of the company, increasing the participation of the staffs for the company, and others. This is one of the reasons; the large scale interventions are attempted intentionally and consciously by MAS. The staffs of the company are considered to be one of the biggest assets for the management. Thus, it is required to handle the needs and preferences of the staffs in the best possible manner. For this it is essential to introduce an effective system that will enable the company to retain the information about the staffs and process the same in the best possible manner (Bryson, 2004).
The large-scale intervention is basically planned to be introduced over a period of 3-5 years. These factors are required for the purpose on analysing the challenges and implementing the changes that are required for the sake of execution of the tasks that are considered to be essential for bringing in the changes with the operational process. Changes within the company can be implemented through forceful methods, and this is an approval from the present members or staffs of the company. The changes have been also implemented by the management of the MAS to cope with the challenges that are imposed by the economic condition, customer requirements, regulatory, and others. Introducing a new information technology is not an easy task, as the management of the company has to consider various aspects related to the same. However, the benefit related to the developing and implementing new product plan cannot be overlooked at all. Through this process, the company can easily handle different tasks that were related to the management process about the details or data related to the clients. This also requires strong and effective leadership management, which is considered to be one of the most important aspects that will enable the managers to introduce the changes. For instance, many of the staffs who are not familiar with the process of latest information technology might not be comfortable with the introduction. In this case, the strategy prepared by MAS has to be effective and helpful so that the complex and urgent requirements of the company can be easily handled by the staffs of the organization. For this, it is essential to introduce an effective training process that will be helpful in carrying out operational activities (Burke,2002).
The prime objective for introducing the changes in the company on a large system is to ensure that the changes last for a longer period of time. Such factors are meant to increase the performance of the company, which is considered to be one of the most important factors for the development of MAS. In this process, the following aspects are taken care of –
Apart from this, the mission and vision of the large scale intervention has to be visible, committed, and needs to gather the attention of the managers and the leaders. The participation of the staffs of the company is one of the most important factors that are considered in this process. Apart from this, the other factors that are analysed in the process are –
The management of the MAS system has proposed to introduce a system through which the HR handling becomes quite easy and effective. Apart from this, the challenges that are involved with the process are expected to be simplified, and this is one of the advantages that cannot be overlooked by the management. In this case, the involvement of managers, CEO, staffs, and the experts from the HR department plays an important role. The benefits that are expected to be derived from the introduction of the system have to be presented to the stakeholders of the company. In the beginning of the program, the mangers form the concerned department of the human resource department and other departments would have to be included in the intervention program. This is necessary as the managers will be able to analyse the benefits that will be derived after introducing the plan. For this, it is necessary to include leadership decision that will also include strategic plans and designing for the organization. in this process, the changes that are intended to be introduced by the management has to be discussed with the concerned department, as this will help in analysing the challenges and other limitations that can affect the performance of the program that has been proposed to be introduced by the company. This is also required for increasing the adoption percentage and the change cycle time that is considered to be necessary for making and implementing the best decision that can be used for the business development. In case of multiple organizational interventions, it is possible that there might be large number of managers involved in the process. This will include 100’s of sizeable groups that will include managers from different departments. It is quite important to decide upon the number of participants as this will enable the managers to make the required decision that will be helpful in accomplishing the task. In this method, the roles and the tasks that will be performed by different members are also discussed. This will help in accomplishing the tasks in the best possible manner. The problem is analysed from different perspectives and it is considered to be quite essential for doing so. The larger groups can be divided into smaller portions, as this will help in the business development and implementation of the right steps through which the necessary changes can be implemented for the purpose of the business. Through this process, an attempt is made to develop new and better ideas and implement the same (Chandy, and Linn, 2011).
The timeline for introducing the changes and the benefits that are associated with the same has to be discussed with the members in the best possible manner. Information system that has been proposed to be introduced for the sake of the handling the data of the staffs are expected to be intervened by multiple interventions. This is one of the reasons, the plan needs to be developed and implemented in the right manner. The place or the location, where the meeting for discussing the change has to be decided and the same has to be communicated with the members working with the company. In this process, detailed information about the required changes and the process that will be followed for the same has to be analysed and implemented in the right manner by the management. This has been done by setting out the objectives that are considered to be essential for the successful conduct of the intervention program. In the meeting at attempt is made to discuss about the challenges that will be faced by the management and the steps that needs to be taken for handling the issues in an effective manner. In this case, the role of the practitioner has to be also mentioned in the best possible manner. This will help in structuring the organizational activities and handle the issues that are faced by the company in the best possible manner. For this, the information needs to be gathered and interpreted in the right manner. Also the members have to be organized as this will help in handling the data and encourage them to analyse the challenges that are involved with the process of adopting and implementing the changes that are required for introducing the changes. The program is considered to be complex, as many of the staffs and the managers are not aware of the process that needs to be followed for carrying out the performance in the right manner. The expected changes and the process that will be followed for the same, has to be communicated with the members (Capacity Environments, 2011).
The changes that are intended to be introduced by the company have to be discussed and implemented in the right manner. For this, the interest and benefits that will be derived by the management of the company has to be determined. This will help in drafting and implementing the right steps through which the task can be accomplished. For this, it is necessary to discuss with the members about the proposed change and the steps that needs to be followed for introducing the changes. In this case, the present and the future interest of the management have to be determined and it has to be communicated in an effective manner with the managers of the company. In this case, the behaviour and actions that needs to be taken for implementing the changes has to be determined and the same needs to be communicated with the members. For this, the below mentioned factors are analysed –
In this process, the management of the company proposes to discuss on different aspects that are associated with the procedure that will be followed for introducing the changes that will benefit the company has to be discussed. For this, it is necessary to gather the opinion about the people who are present in the meeting. Also, the ideas or apprehension of the members about the system that has been proposed to be introduced by the management has to be discussed. This has been done with an intention of setting out the values, ethical beliefs, and other factors that are considered for analysing the changes that are required for the purpose of execution of the task. It is also essential to analyse the perspectives of the staffs, as this will help in improving the performance and understanding about the tasks that are expected to be performed by the members (Cummings, & Worley, 2001).
For this, the management can conduct an assessment through which the changes that are required to be implemented by the company for IT purpose has to be analysed. Also, it has to be discussed with the members earlier as this will help in improving the quality of understanding that is required for conducting the research on the topic. In order to increase the awareness of the strategic plan that has been intended to be introduced by the company, essential information is intended to be collected by the management. In this process the present performance will be presented to the staffs, and the benefits that are associated with the introducing of the new system will be also discussed. The data of the past performance will be presented in this process ( Davis, 2011). .
Decision makers of the company are the head of the departments, CEO, directors, and stakeholders. Implementing changes in the IT system is one of the key decisions that need the involvement of such members. In order to ensure that the members are participative in the meeting it is necessary to discuss the benefits and the process that will be followed for the purpose of implementing the changes. This is one of the key factors through which the members can be attracted towards the meeting. Apart from this, the reason for the implementation of such program has to be discussed with the decision makers. This is considered to be one of the most important aspects through which the changes can be implemented for improving the performance of the company. Decision makers of the company are interested in deriving maximum benefits out of the investments that has been made on the installation of the project. This is one of the reasons, the benefits needs to be analyzed and the same needs to be discussed with the members or the decision makers. The statistical information that includes providing information about the benefits in terms of improved customer services and reduction in the price of the services that has been rendered to the clients has to be discussed with the decision makers in the right manner. This will help in gaining the confidence of the members who are involved with the process of the making decision that will benefit the company and increase the productivity (Dubois, D. & Rothwell, W, 2004).
Some of the arguments that will be presented to the decision makers will include the below mentioned points –
Conclusion
Large scale intervention process is usually quite complex and it needs proper understanding about the issue. In this case, it is necessary to analyses the proposed idea and develop better strategies through which the changes can be implemented by the management. The challenges faced by the management have to be sorted out at each level as this will help in improving the performance that has been associated with the implementation of the process. Apart from this, the steps that needs to be followed for implementing the changes has to be planned and discussed with the members in the right manner. This will help in accomplishing the task in the best possible manner.
