The activities that are undertaken by the sport managers or the coaches help in maintaining the team performance. The different strategies that are applied by the managers of the sport are dependent on the situation that is faced by the team and the manner in which improvements can be facilitated in the team as per the requirements. As a coach for a team, I must understand the psychological needs of the team members and motivate the members to bring in positive results in the performance of the same.
The research question for the report is “Do goal setting programs encourage adults to adhere to exercise programs?” The discussion will be held on understanding the manner in which setting of goals helps in undertaking the proper management of the systems of the sport to bring in improvements in the performance of the individual members. The delineation of the goals and setting the activities that are required to be taken by the team members helps in undertaking the proper management of the teams. Being an expert in the team dynamics, I must take certain steps to adhere to the psychological needs of the team to bring in changes in the performance of the same. On the other hand, fixing a goal for the team and taking continuous hurdles are activities that might be taken to bring in improvements in the team performance.
The aim of the research is based on the understanding of the strategies that are implemented by the coaches are based on the analysis of the contingencies that are faced by the team. The identification of the psychological needs of the team helps in delineating the various aspects of the change as per the needs of enhancing the performance.
The analysis on the topic is based on the research that is undertaken by the researcher. In this connection, I have taken support from the SportsDiscus, PsychINFO and ERIC for reviewing the current literature that will be helping me to understand the different aspects of the change that I must undertake to understand the requirements of the sport manager or the coach. The identification of the needs of the team members and assigning goals based on the understanding of the capabilities of the same helps in enhancing the team performance. on the other hand, the identification of the different competencies that are faced by the team at the micro level will be helping me to understand the issues that are faced by the team while performing based on the objectives. The strategies that might be taken by me as a manager of the team is facilitated through the identification of the competencies that are faced by the members. The identification of the issues will be helping me to design the mitigating factors relating to the health and the other psychological factors of the team members that support the proper functioning of the team.
Results and Conclusion
Bradley et al. (2012) stated that task conflict in the team affects the performance of the same as there are psychological conflicts regarding the assignment of the roles for the smooth performance of the people in the team. The psychological safety played a major role in defining the activities of the functions that are undertaken by the team members in the context. The research undertaken by Bradley et al. (2012) is based on the evidence and sampling of 117 project teams which is characterized by psychological safety. The major elements of the change that is required to be taken by the sport manger is to understand the capabilities of the members of the team and thereby assign goals, which is achievable. Geidne, Quennerstedt and Eriksson (2013) stated that motivation plays a key role in shaping the performance of the team members and the manner in which the team should function based on the assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the members in the team. The manger must be able to justify the position of the team mates for avoiding the circumstances of the conflicts in the team and their functioning. The major aspect of the change that is required to be taken by the manager of the sport is based on the understanding of the roles and the assessment of the capabilities of the team members for enhancing the performance of the group. Chin, Khoo and Low (2012) stated that the assignment of the goals is based on the timeframe for bringing ion modifications in the performance patterns and the implementation of the different strategies that helps in bringing in modifications in the systems of the sport.
According to De Jong, Dirks and Gillespie (2016), intra-team trust helps in the efficient management of the teams to bring in changes in the performance. The identification of the psychological factors relating to the team coordination must be facilitated by the managers to bring in changes in the performance of the team as per the requirements of meeting the objectives of the same in the current scenario. The meta-analysis that was undertaken during the research is dependent on the cumulating evidence collected from 112 independent studies (N = 7,763 teams). The different cognitive and affective measures help in maintaining the different aspects of the change in the performance of the teams as per the assessment of the objectives. The trust and performance of the team is interlinked as the trust among the team members helps in the team coordination, which helps in enhancing the functions of the team. Geidne, Quennerstedt and Eriksson (2013) stated that the identification of the different issues in the team and the psychological barriers based on ego and conflict in the opinions of the team members affects the team performance. The basic changes that are required to be undertaken by the sport manager is based on undertaking counseling sessions with the team members to sort out the different psychological issues that affects the coordination in the team. Chin, Khoo and Low (2012) the different aspects of the change that must be undertaken by the coach is based on the understanding of the Psychological concepts of the team functioning through the delineation of the objectives. Once the objective of the team is set, the team members concentrate on a systematic flow of actions to bring in changes within their activities within the prescribed to me limit. Veal and Darcy (2014) stated that the goals help teams in adhering to the needs of modifications goals and the assessment of the procedures for facilitating the change.
Management of the sport is based on the communication of the ideas and the strategies that the teammates might implement to bring in changes in the performance of the team. On the other hand, De Jong, Dirks and Gillespie (2016) stated that the proper functioning of the team members is based on the identification of the different barriers that affects the performance of the team. The proper management of the team functions is based on the understanding of the psychological factors that affects the performance of the team and the manner in which it helps in bringing in modifications in the team dynamics to fulfill the objectives of the team. Bradley et al. (2012) stated that the understanding of the performance of the teams is facilitated through the understanding of the different psychological needs of the team members and the identification of the different mitigating factors that helps in maintaining the balance in the functions of the individual team members. It helps in maintaining the coordination among the team members as it facilitates the maintenance of the various aspects of the change in the structure of the team and their individual functioning.
