There are two categories of economies of scale which are internal and external. Basically, internal economies of scale are the ones which are special to each company. The existence of economies in production explains one of the reasons for the countries to trade. Actually, the economy of scale models explains why intra-industry trade exists. In Internal economies, a factory usually opens to a single economy without the influence of another factory.
