The GET test was indeed very enlightening for me, as it helped me to a considerable extent, in exploring the skills present in me, and the role they are likely to play in my dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur in future. First of all, I would like to mention that the need o achievement score as scored by me was indeed low, that points out lack of motivation in me to succeed and excel in life, by outrivaling others. This indeed is a disadvantage for me, as an entrepreneur becomes successful only through his perseverant efforts, and patient dedication to the task at hand (Charness 2014). However, on the other hand, my score clearly indicates that I am more of a person who would not be over-zealous to succeed in life, and would be able to master skills or control for the same. A person who usually ia drive by a sense of achievement, will necessarily choose to focus on greater risks, and work with great dedication to achieve the same. However, I am not driven much my ambition, and as an entrepreneur I might not be motivated to take big risks.
The GET score also indicated that I lack the need of autonomy, as I love to work being advised upon, rather than taking things under my wing. This not only shows that I might be a risk-averse businessman in future, but it also shows that I would never be able to manage an organization on my own, and would tend to rely on the advice of another person, before taking any big decision (Moog et al. 2015). I would rather prefer a job which enables me to work under the command of a sincere boss, rather than taking the big decisions on my own. Lack of independence in me ca also hinder me from becoming a successful entrepreneur.
However, despite the aforementioned drawbacks, the best thing I got to know, is that I am a highly creative individual. An entrepreneur who can keep on introducing innovative ideas in business, never ever fails. My creativity score is indeed high, suggesting that I love to think differently, can gain insights into problems, and have the huge potential of taking risk in future. However, the GET test also proved that I am more of a risk-averse person, and this can be indeed disadvantageous for me, as in future, I might lose various opportunities because of my tendency to play it safe. I lack the determination to try out on new things and invest. This implies that as an entrepreneur I might not lose much, but then again I might not gain much as well. Further, I score quite average on my locus on control as well (Chell 2013). I do lack a sense of self-confidence and as a result I may not be able to undertake risky ventures in future. A self-reliant, independent and strongly individualistic approach towards work is required, which however, is missing in me. I would require to develop my confidence in future (Piperopolous et al. 2014).
Other Psychometric Test:
I would like to mention here that I have also taken another test at TestmyCreativity.com that intends to analyze my abstract, connection, perspective, curiosity, boldness, paradox, complexity and persistence. In this test I have scored 48.75 that clearly illustrates that some of the key entrepreneurial skills are missing in me. First of all, the quality of abstraction present in me, is found to be quite low. This is quite contradictory, as my result of the GET test claimed that I am a highly creative individual, with an imaginative bent of mind. However, my low score in abstraction as well as connection claims that I am not very good at molding thoughts into great ideas (Certo 2015). Maybe I possess the imaginative power, but presently I do not exhibit the power of changing a normal idea into something big, that can fetch me sound profit in business. However, my score I boldness affirms my result I obtained in the GET test, as it shows that am indeed a risk-averse individual, and I usually do not like to take bold moves (Urbano and Alvarez 2014). This can prevent my opportunity from disrupting the existing ideas through innovation. I lack the courage or the instinct to break through traditional ways of perceiving things. Further, my low score in persistence also suggests that I do lack the need for achievement, and I am more likely to work in a slow and peaceful way, rather than trying to leave a mark in a highly competitive market (Ibrahim and Lucky 2014).
After completing the tests, and getting the results, I have understood how each of the qualities I have been marked against, will influence my life or business career growth in future. Since I am not much driven by ambition, or the need to succeed, I may not succeed to become a successful businessman in future. In my life, I would tend to appreciate my little achievements, and am less likely to choose new areas for further growth. Since I am not very bold, and indeed quite risk averse, I will not be much interested in experimenting with new ideas, and would like to be content by applying already tested ideas. This does imply that even though I might not be very successful in future, I will still be able to maintain a steady position in my personal as well as professional life. I will try my best to play it safe. I may have scored quite less in terms of perseverance, I do have a good score in creativity (Weber et al. 2014). This suggests that I will be able to think creatively, and apply innovative ideas, provided I get my ideas approved by some good advisor beforehand. I will require that moral strength from someone, and thus I believe that working with a business partner, who is more ambitious and less risk-averse than me, would do wonders for me (Levine and Rubinstein 2016).
I would also like to mention here that a huge variety of antecedent influences did shape up the person I am today, and the skills I possess presently. First of all, I belong t a mediocre family, with my family members doing jobs, and except a couple of distant relatives, no one in my family conducts business. Since the family involvement in business is missing in my situation, I grew up to be a person who is risk-averse and is content with the minimal accomplishments. I do not have the tendency to invest in unknown areas, as I have ever seen my family members taking random risky ventures for greater accomplishments. Besides, peers also play an important role in shaping the entrepreneur, but most of my friends were coming from families where business had little to do (Orazem et al. 2015). I did not hear too many motivating tales of entrepreneurship that could make me more ambitious, perseverant or bold. Consequently, I never felt the urge of transforming small things into big ideas. As a result of which, my score in abstraction, curiosity and boldness is quite low (Seuneke et al. 2013). Besides, my school did not have a culture that could promote entrepreneurship skills in its students. However, my University did have a very supportive environment, as I taught me to dream big, and to love doing something that is not the same as others. This has helped me embrace creativity, and I am well aware that I can think of thousand little ideas that can prove to be too unique in the marketplace. However, since my family has been over-protective about me, and I have been taught to be too disciplined in my school days, I am too self-controlled to play with flexible ideas, and thus my locus of control score or curiosity score is low. I do lack the courage to question and change the normative ideas, and replace the same with my own (Klonek et al. 2015).
Reflection, Conclusion and Implications:
After the completion of the two abovementioned tests, I have realized that I do lack a variety of skills, that should be present in an entrepreneur. For example, I have realized that I do lack self-confidence or boldness that can help me enhance my professional skills and achieve professional growth in future Hence, I have decided that I will attend personality-developing seminars, and workshops, and also enroll myself in soft skill developing training programs. These programs can help me become more assertive, and self-reliant, so that I can apply my innovative business ideas without much apprehension in mind. Since my score in need to achieve and perseverance is remarkably low, I think I will need to read more of the success stories of successful businessmen, who started business from the scratch, and made it big in life. This will help me become self-motivated, to try pit new things and make big changes. Besides, as I have already mentioned earlier, I will consider in future to open up business with some co-entrepreneur, so that I can be advised to work in the right way in case I lack the moral strength and courage.
