Planning for taking the admission in college:
This phase incudes various activities like; students along with their parents search for a better place for further studies. They search for the best college in the city or outside the city. They also prefer to look at the inviting brochures from different colleges. In this phase, they take time to visit the campus of college.
In this phase, the students analyze the requirement which they wish after the college completion. In this phase, they analyze their own interests. They look at the different courses and decide on which is beneficial for their career.
After deciding the college, the students take the admission in the college. If they are wishing to study outside their city, then they have to move away from their home and stay there. Furthermore, it includes completing the admission formalities, submitting previous documents etc. The students become familiar with the college environment and meet new friends (Clinton Community College, 2015).
The phase of study includes attending the classes and lectures. The students prepare the tasks and college assignments at their home. This includes all the activities; which happen in the classroom; like asking the question to professor, class tests, presentations and seminar.
In this phase, students learn so many things from the college environment. Learning in the college improves their study skills for reading, making the notes and preparing for exams. Learning helps in improving their technical and social skills. The students learn to work in the team through working in the team project. This helps in establishing their social life also. In the team project, they get time to spend with their classmates. They learn to use the library and other academic resources for their tasks.
The students fight exams at the end of every semester. In this phase, they do study at their home alone or do group studies. At this point, they have to work hard to get success in the examination (Monye, 2013). The students, who study hard, get successful, otherwise they get failed.
After completion of the course, the students get graduation degree. They start to plan for searching the job. They search for the job according to their qualification and interests. This phase includes the final activities of graduation course, like; academic and social activities. After the course, finally they move forward for further studies and their career development. The phases of college life cycle vary for different students. They decide their own phases in the college life.
The students make the guidelines and strategy for getting all the activities and tasks completed in a certain time. The major technique for the students is time management. This is most important resource for the college students to get success (Monye, 2013). They should divide the activities according to the time. Priorities should be set for the significant tasks. Establishing a study plan can help them in completing all the assignments and reading material before the exams.
The students create the models, which can help them to get through the college and to plan the college completion process. The students might use the competency based model. In this model, the students earn the degree through showing their knowledge and skills in their subject. This model can be used for the college completion (Clinton Community College, 2015). In this model, the students will face the tests and write the assignments and papers. They will not focus on the sitting time, but the student will become a highly professional. This model will be helpful for the college-goers in completing their college program effectively and successfully. The students should create a hierarchy chart, which will tell them how to break down each stage of college cycle and get the understanding that how they can complete the tasks and activities with the ease.
Students can use the Gantt chart in Microsoft Excel tool, where they can drag and drop the classes, which are already completed (Monye, 2013). So, they can include the classes, which require to be done in the future. Other tool is the organizational chart. It can include the information about the faculties and authorities of reporting. Other tools are like; layout, add assistant and Microsoft word, PowerPoint can be used for making the presentations in the college life.

According to the case study, it will be good if CLT Company appoint its project managers from its existing employees. It is good idea to promote within the organization. There are some reasons behind this, as new project manager will have the loyalty for the company and will work faithfully. It will not waste the time of organization’s management, as the existing employee is already familiar with the company’s internal procedures. The existing person can easily win the confidence of the fellow employees (Gillard, 2009). There is no need to conduct the induction program. Appointing the project manager from within will help the employees in providing future career paths. The present employee is familiar with the tools, techniques, systems, languages and internal environment. Thus, the decision of CLT to appoint project managers from its existing employee base is good.
Advices to the CLT include that the company must understand that the skills for the project manager are very much different from the programmer, system analysts or designer. In this way, each system analyst cannot become project manager in the organization. The company should conduct a training program to the project manager to enhance the managerial skills. There will be need of personnel management training (Marando, 2015). These advices will assist the CLT in strong project management.
Before promoting a system analyst as a project manager, the candidate must have some necessary skills and experience. The organization can recognize some measure of the performance. In this case, Monica should use the qualitative measure for evaluating the performance of Stewart. As a system analyst, he is doing well, but it should be measured, whether he have the required skills and aptitude for effective project management. Although qualitative measures for organizational readiness are very hard but measurement of skills, aptitude and experiences require the qualitative evaluation (Gillard, 2009). Monica should develop a list of required skills and experience, and then she should observe Stewart, if he has ability to develop those skills. It will indicate that he is ready for becoming a project manager at CLT. The project manager should pursue the sills related to various aspects like; project time management, project scope management, quality management, project risk management and cost management. These skills of Stewart will be observed by Monica (Hyvari, 2006).
If the company is appointing a new project manager in the organization, then it must consider some points, while structuring the job. The job of new project manager should start with the smaller and less difficult projects (Horowitz, 2014). The organization assigns the projects, which are not as much risky in all the aspects, which are discussed in above answer. CLT will assign a mentor or senior project manager to supervise and train his project. The project management training and personnel management training will be conducted for the new project manager. This job structure will increase the possibility of higher level of success.
The case shows that Monica and the CLT Company are providing a significant experience to Stewart in preparing for the project manager. Project management is the area of advancement, so it requires managerial skills more than technical skills. The candidate aspiring for the project manager should identify the skills and knowledge, which are required (Gillard, 2009). They must look for the opportunities to enhance these skills through training and development program and noticing the seniors. So, it suggested to Stewart if he wants to pursue his career as project manager, then he will require extensive skills in attaining his immediate goal. He should consider the issues and problems, which can come in the way of project manager, like; meeting the deadlines and managing the project. Employee satisfaction is very important, so Stewart should consider the outcomes of joining as project manager. So, first Stewart should observe himself and then he should decide for his career path.

In this case, using the questionnaire initially and then interview should be best method for Edward to involve the brokers in the online trading system. There should be a questionnaire, which is sent to start getting ideas. It would be beneficial, as it shall consist of open-ended questions, which are focused on the system. Representative at each location can give input to what the system requires to be completed (Scupola, 2009). Once the project manager reviewed the questionnaire then he should call a meeting with brokers of all the locations via a conference call. This will give an opportunity to talk with every person.
From this meeting, the project manager will be able to know about the requirements to complete the project successfully. After this, the company should interview more than 2 brokers. It will not generate the unbiased opinions. If it will interview all the 30, then it will delay the results. The company must include a fixed percentage of brokers from each location in the JAD session. The interview must be conducted by the joint application design technique. This will be used to define the requirements in a session.

For involving the customers in the new online trading system, Edward can try to make a focus group for getting the feedback. He can send the customer survey, in which he can ask their suggestions and opinions. Other than this, another way to increase the participation of the customers, Edward can include the thank-you call and follow up. The calls to the customers should end with a similar question, i.e. “Is there any change which you want to make or add?” The organization can use the questionnaire for taking their opinions (Satzinger, Jackson & Burd, 2015). The questions must be related to the interest of customers. This is the great manner to open the ways of communication which offers for an open feedback for the organization.

If Edward wishes to include more stakeholders, then he should include On the basis of their involvement in using the new online trade system, such as; developers, customers, management, brokers, employees and technician. He must include the users, because they are the one who use the online trade system on daily basis. Technical staff must be involved because they make sure that the system is working well in the business environment.
There are some guidelines, which can help Edward in building a list of people. For involving other stakeholders, the manager needs to analyze their position in the organization and level of usage. He must involve them in the development, system maintenance and day to day activities. He must look at the reports and all the destinations (Scupola, 2009). All the people will have interest in the information which is provided by the system. Edward must consider the senior management to see if any information needs to be managed and communicated. By looking at the different departments in the organization, he can see if the stakeholders are receiving the information from new online trade system. Thus, it can help Edward to build a list of stakeholders.
