Discussion
The report aims at discussing the phases related to decommissioning and implementation. For this report the chosen case study is of Brampton Civic Hospital and this is important to determine each step associated with hospital. The requirements needed throughout the development of this project is needed to understand. This becomes important to understand the process controlling phase and also there is a need to determine the quality management (Krohe, 2008). Apart from these it is essential to maintain the supply management chain. Thus, it is necessary to develop a project plan that will be beneficial for the hospital.
3.1. Infrastructure project life cycle
Every project needs to be understand well before planning. The Brampton civic hospital needs to develop an infrastructure project life cycle before planning. This will help the hospital to understand the phases and the working of infrastructure life cycle (Marlow, Beale & Burn, 2010). With better approach towards the infrastructure project life cycle better quality of service can be provided towards the customer. Apart from this, there are several risks that are associated with the infrastructure. Thus it becomes essential to mitigate this risks. In the project development cycle it becomes essential to encourage the role that every stakeholders plays in private sector participation (Martland, 2012). The key risks related with the implementation of Brampton project is with the handling of new equipment’s.
This becomes essential to recognise the project lifecycle of organisation so that the processing lifecycle can be improved. However it is necessary to have trained employees and staffs who will be able to handle every instrument well (Ormazabal, Viñolas & Aguado, 2008). Getting a good knowledge of infrastructure development entails assessment in project development and acknowledge depths of the project.
The phases of project life cycle includes:
3.2 Managing infrastructure project performance:
The aim behind developing Brampton civic hospital was to provide better facility to everyone. The report focuses on the performance definition. Brampton civic hospital should be aware about the effects of implementing new technology within the hospital (Penn & Parker, 2012). The procurement plan includes planning the contract and metric that will be helpful to regulate performance of the contract.
The responsibility of the project manager is to set a deadline and finish the project within the time. The services and product offered by the hospital needs a standard document to continue the procurement plan. Public infrastructure projects are important for every country. This helps in driving country’s economic success and also has the capability to grow and become more feasible in the competitive market (PwC 2014). This is essential to manage the project performance so that the newly implemented technology can be used properly to achieve maximum benefits.
With the implementation of a better public infrastructure with newly implemented technologies creates a positive impact on the community and also helps in providing better land a healthy life style. Managing the infrastructure is necessary to maintain a good balance in country. Brampton civic hospital is the first civic hospital of Brampton, thus it is essential to manage infrastructure well so that maximum support can be provided to the customers (Chen et al.
2009). The main benefit of a civic hospital that it chooses project wisely and always takes responsibility to fulfil the needs of the people associated with the hospital (Rahman & Kumaraswamy, 2008). This ensures that the project chosen are beneficial for the hospital and also ensures that better project can be developed with less amount of money. Ideal project initiates growth and allocate the right resources and raw material that ensures on budget and on time completion of the project without changing the surroundings.
3.3 Asset management and sustainability
Asset management and sustainability are introduced with the purpose of improving the work and pronouncement making. The decision is made with the aim to manage the assets affectively that are needed in present and also aims at managing the assets that will be needed in the future. It becomes important to make decision correctly that will be beneficial for the hospital and the staffs associated with the hospital. to successfully complete the commission steps , the hospital and the management team needs to monitor some basic phases that comprises start, meet often, determined training and lastly the management team of the hospital needs to keep commissioning involved (Rodgers, 2005).
After the completion of contract the organization can start with implementation of this project. Before starting the project it is important to verify each documents and get the permission from the government. As Brampton hospital is a public hospital, thus it needs to be approved by the government. The challenges that are supposed to be faced while implementing this project are also needed to be addressed and to be mitigated in time. Life cycle cost analyses is used to manage the asset efficiently and also enables long duration cost optimization (Accenture, 2012).
It is the responsibility of the project leader to manage the resources accordingly and organize them in a proper manner so that they can evaluate based project. The responsibility of project leader is to look after the stakeholders and check the supply chain management. With a proper Supply chain management the project lead can get a 360 degree visibility into the ecosystem of the suppliers. Effective SCM system helps in accomplishing the following goal this includes managing contractual obligations to ensure continuous supply of resources and also avoids service delivery disruptions. This cycle includes evaluating the costs after analysing them by determining the assets used and also offers least cost solution.
3.4. Infrastructure project security and safety
This is important to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment that will determine the potential security risks and will involve strategies to mitigate the risks involved in deigning phase. This is essential of develop a better security plan that will ensure safety of each patients associated with the hospital (Sánchez Soliño & Vassallo, 2009). Moreover the data stored within the documents of the company needs to be maintained with highest security. Every data associated with the patient needs to be maintained with highest security, as no third party can be allowed to access the information about any employee or patients. IAHSS security design guidelines for healthcare facilities ensure developing security design with the Brampton civic hospital. Apart from these, the pharmacies hired by the organization needs to be knowledgeable enough so that they can provide better facility. There are several threats associated with the use of new instruments.
The report evaluates in detail the functioning issues that are most likely to be faced with the application of these project. There are some issues related to safety and security issues that are identified and mitigation techniques are also provided. With the implementation of new technology and equipment it becomes essential to hire highly technical staffs that can operate this equipment properly (Song, Mohamed & AbouRizk, 2009). With proper use of the technology efficiency can be achieved. Apart from these disease control and prevention publishes guidelines are designed to manage the impact of construction activities on health.
