The paper mainly reflects on the information system development for the organization named “International charity Foundation” that mainly engages in helping the young people for realizing their potential with the help of medical as well as educational assistance in different countries. It is found that the organization currently utilizes manual processes in order to record the personal details of the children’s who needs support. The current system that is used by the organization creates number of issues and in order to resolve those issues, the organization wants to automate the manual system. It is found that the main aim of the report is to develop an information system so that the problems that are associated with the manual system can be easily resolved and the organization will be able to enrol the children’s for ICF programs by utilizing online application forms. The objectives of the report are elaborated below:
It is found that before determining an approach for the development of the information system for ICF, it is quite necessary to specify the various needs of the system. The requirements as well as features of the system that is proposed is elaborated below:
Portal for the clients: It is quite necessary to have a portal for the clients so that they can be able to donate money within the help of online payment gateway and the payment which is made will be collected directly within the bank account. The clients will receive a receipt for the donations which is generally made at the end of the year (Polivka 2015).
Tracking the stock: Tracking the stock is considered as one of the significant feature that is mainly utilized for tracking the stock that is available. It is found that with the feature the stock can be checked before purchasing the foods as well as resources in order to avoid wastage.
Online enrolment system: The system will generally have a feature that will be helpful in providing online enrolment to the children’s who needs financial help for their education as well as healthcare (Chen and Shen 2015). It is found that with the development of information system, the procedure of enrolment will be made online so that no manual handling will be required for the procedure of enrolment.
It is found that the most significant system development method that is generally required for the system will be rapid application development method. It is found that in this method of system development, prototyping method is generally utilized for designing as well as testing the features of the prototype that are mentioned (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). After the completion of testing, the entire version of the system will be developed.
The rapid application development method is mainly used for enabling the developers for developing the prototype of the various features at one time by minimizing the time that is needed for the entire project. Moreover, it is found that after the development of various features they can properly will integrated within one system and thus RAD is considered as one of the best system development method for developing the information system for the organization.
The non-functional as well as functional requirements of the entire system is reflected in the table that is provided below:
Functional requirements |
Role in the system |
Database enrolment |
The students who generally requires support for educational and medical facility are generally enrolled within the database of the system. |
Customer care |
It generally helps in providing the facility of online chart with the customers in order to resolve their queries as well as problems. |
Stock database |
The information regarding the stock are stored within the stock database of the system. |
Non-functional requirements |
Role in the system |
Accessing the contents that can be downloaded |
The users are able to download files that are needed for the enrolment procedure like the enrolment form as well as payslip and more. |
Tracking of stock |
The stocks of the organization are generally updated on regular basis with the help of this feature after the procedure of either resource procurement as well as resource allocation. |
Payment security |
This feature is mainly utilized for transferring the amount of money. |
The non-functional requirements that are generally selected so that they are capable of supporting the features of the information system. It is found that for making the features of the functional requirements work, it is quite necessary that the non-functional requirements of the project also work in the similar way.
The cost benefit analysis is well-defined as a one of the technique that is utilized for analyzing the decisions. The benefits of the project are summed and then the cost that is mainly invested on the project is mainly deducted in order to determine the benefits. It is found that some of the analyst or consultants generally build their model for putting the entire dollar value into proper intangible items including the benefits as well as costs which are generally associated with the project (Kerzner 2017). The cost benefit analysis that is mainly formed for the project reflects that the overall ROI of the project is 0.2536. The cost benefit analysis that is done on the project is reflected with the help of the table that is provided below:

5. Project Schedule
FIGURE 1: WBS
FIGURE 2: GANTT CHART
It is found that a WBS is one of the hierarchical structure that helps in reflecting the structure of how the project related works will be executed within the project. It is considered as one of the organized way of viewing the work of the project. On the other hand, the gnat chart of the project is found as one of the sequential view that reflects how the work is planned and it will be completed over a period of time (Joslin and Muller 2015). Both WBS and gnat charts are required while developing the project.
The stakeholders who are associated with the project are listed below:
System investigation techniques are generally considered to be deployed for investigating the work of the entire system for identifying the issues that can cause disruption of the working of the entire system. Some common method of investigations is elaborated below:
Personal interview: It is considered as one of the most best investigation method in which the staffs of the organizations are generally interviewed in order to gather information about the challenges that are associated with the system (Ricci, Rokach and Shapira 2015).
Monthly system testing: It is one of the method that generally can be used at the month end for testing the system so that any issues and challenges related with the system can be identified.
Monitoring: This is considered as one of the continuous procedure in which the entire system is kept under the procedure of constant monitoring for determining whether the entire system is properly working as per the requirements or not (Chen et al., 2015).
Conclusions
It can be concluded that an information system development for “ICF” will be helpful in mitigating the challenges and issues that is faced by the company. It is found that the project will get finished within the approved budget that is around $250, 000. With the help of the project, children can be able to get the facility of online enrolment. In addition to this, it is found that the development of information system helps in making all the functionalities as well as operations online.
