Stair, R. and Reynolds, G., 2013. Principles of information systems. Cengage Learning.

Peppard, J. and Ward, J., 2016. The strategic management of information systems: Building a digital strategy. John Wiley & Sons.
In this book, the authors have given a precise description of information systems and explained how it works in different organizations. According to them, Information Systems are the methods by which businesses or organizations assemble, develop, accumulate, employ and circulate information by utilizing technology. The BMT management can utilize the information systems to ensure smooth flow information across sites with minimum or no risk of duplicity. Many kinds of information systems are there that can be suggested to BMT management that could benefit their organization. Operating as a small-scale business, BMT needs to implement technologies that do not prove a burden to their budget (Question 1).
Lipaj, D. and Davidavi?ien?, V., 2013. Influence of information systems on business performance. Science–Future of Lithuania/Mokslas–Lietuvos Ateitis, 5(1), pp.38-45.
In the article, the authors have laid stress on the types of information systems that businesses in today’s world utilize to earn maximum profit at minimum cost. The different kinds of information systems include Transaction processing System (TPS), Management Information Systems (MIS), Office Information Systems (OIS), Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Executive Support Systems (ESS). To the BMT management, the TPS, DSS and the ESS are the perfect IS tools through which they can manage cost and expect efficient outcomes as well (Question 1 and 2).
Sam as the chairperson of BMT is confronted with typical organizational problems that occur when the business expands. The first major problem facing BMT is the complexity and cost of setting up IT infrastructure in different branches of the Temple. The second prominent problem is the safety and security of the data shared across sites and the third is the logistical issue that involves storing of different data. These issues have been addressed in the article through the description of the use of different types of information systems to enhance business productivity and performance (Question 2).
Sriratanaviriyakul, N., Nkhoma, M. and Pham, H., 2013. Osaka flower coffee shop: transaction processing systems. Journal of Information Technology Education: Discussion Cases, 2, pp.1-11.
In this article, the authors have demonstrated the efficiency of TPS by giving practical examples. At first, the authors have defined the meaning and capability of TPS and then pointed out the potential strengths as well as weaknesses of the system. The Transaction Processing System or TPS has the capacity to store all the important information in a single platform that can be accessed by users at any time. BMT can utilize this to install software where all the logistics could be stored (Question 2 and 4). However, small businesses, state the authors, might find it difficult to utilize the complete utility of the system, as it might cost very high.
Sommerville, I., Lock, R. and Storer, T., 2012, March. Information Requirements for Enterprise Systems. In Monterey Workshop (pp. 266-282).
In order to identify BMT’s information requirements, one has to understand under which category it comes that is small, medium or large. Looking at the functioning of BMT, however, it is evident that it is a small-scale organization and hence its information requirements would be different. The article explains the different information requirements of enterprises and the means by which those are collected. The basic information requirements of BMT might include transactions on daily basis, sale, and management of cash and so on (Question 3). The authors have defined the Requirements Engineering (RE) explain that requirements vary as per the decisions of the management and needs of the stakeholders.
Gloor, P., 2012. Making the e-business Transformation. Springer Science & Business Media.
Brisbane Multi-Faith Temple too can utilize this aspect of business to manage its expansion successfully. However, installing technology is not enough to ensure success because the BMT management has to utilize it properly. This book explains the influence of the internet, intranet and extranet on businesses. The BMT chairperson, Sam wants to communicate and collaborate with the stakeholders- patrons, customers and employees- in a way that ensures speedy response and error free exchange. To achieve this, it can be suggested that an official website of BMT is created for all the stakeholders to have access to all the information related to the temple. In addition, a personal portal solely for the staff can be created by utilizing the intranet (Question 5).

Burke, W.W., 2017. Organization change: Theory and practice. Sage Publications.
In this book, Burke elucidates the concept of organization change and its impact on the functioning of the organization. The author states that changes in organizations are mostly evolutionary. By evolutionary the author tried to mean the unplanned changes that management takes on daily basis. In case of BMT, it can be said that the change is both evolutionary and revolutionary. Revolutionary change implies planned change that involves the entire system. BMT chairperson is planning to change the system from manual and labor-centric to technological. Implementation of information systems is a planned organizational change (Question 6).
Pieterse, J.H., Caniëls, M.C. and Homan, T., 2012. Professional discourses and resistance to change. Journal of Organizational Change Management, 25(6), pp.798-818.
The authors in this article have explored the various changes that confront organizations and the means by which organizations could overcome the possible repercussions of these changes. Many issues arise when an organization plans to change it management system and resistance to change from employees is one such change. Many employees might not adhere to the changes that take place in organizations and this result in revolting behaviors, discrepancies within organizations and other problems. The BMT management while planning to install information systems in its workplace might have to let go of some of its employees. In such situations, it is the responsibility of the managers to have a conversation with the employees. The authors have pointed out that communicating with the employees working on a lower level is an effective way to manage organizational change. However, the communication must be made in such a way that it sends a positive message rather than creating further chaos (Question 6).
Laudon, K.C. and Laudon, J.P., 2016. Management information system. Pearson Education India.
The stakeholders constitute the most important part of an organization. The customers, employees and patrons are included in the list of potential stakeholders of BMT. Incorporating the new technological innovations in the organization may give rise to certain ethical and security issues concerning the stakeholders. Creating an official website and a portal for BMT in one hand enhances its functionality but on the other may attract security concerns. This includes unauthorized access, hacking, virus attacks, loss of data, system malfunction and so on. These grave issues might adversely affect BMT. In addition, installing information systems software might also give rise to some ethical issues especially in case of BMT staff. Setting up an IT infrastructure would mean that fewer humans would be required for some tasks. The BMT management might have to sack some employees resulting in break of ethics. These security and ethical issues can be tackled through proper utilization of communication techniques and the information systems itself. Most information systems come with advanced security options. The management must adequately train its staff and other stakeholders to use the systems correctly. On the other hand, they could also utilize the technology to rehabilitate the sacked employees in other organizations (Question 7).
