While greeting each other, hugging and kissing is not customary in opposite sex. A Hindu “Namaskar”, by clasping the palms of both hands together and holding them vertically in front of chest, and a handshake is acceptable. For showing respect “namaskar” is used as well. There is no huge touch sensitivity but in temples, men and women sit separately while attending prayers. |

There is no such seating rule in the workplace but younger people are always expected to greet first with the older people. Sometimes a standing obsession is much necessary while treating elders respectfully. |

__In my simulated workplace, some Hindu festivals are celebrated and there is no any particular restriction regarding dress code but a formal attire is acceptable. Among most of the Hindus, beef or beef products are restricted as they belief cow is sacred. So, avoiding such food, while working with Hindus is a good choice.

I am from an Australian Christian family and my language is English. There is no sensitivity regarding touch that I inherited from my family. I have learnt from my parents to hug or handshake a person while greeting. My parents have taught me to give equal respect to all the religions.

In my workplace, most of the colleagues are Hindu and their way of greeting people is a little different than we do in our culture. They celebrate some different religious festivals and they also maintain restrictions in some particular food. So, at the preliminary stage, all these cultural influences could impact on my workplace as I am from a different background.

An untrained interpreter may create communication gap which leads to dangerous diagnosis and medication error. Apart from that, untrained may not be familiar with all the medical terms. So, it is necessary to use a properly trained interpreter in the healthcare services.

If interpreter is not present, then using pictures or images and picture dictionary can help to elaborate many words showing pictures only. Some important terms can be expressed using image or pictures.

I would change my style of greeting others by using “Namaskar”. Many changes in the consumption of food would also be necessary. I would completely cut beef from my meal and would also reduce consumption of alcohol.

Positive interpersonal relationships will allow effective communication and understanding among employees.
