Investigating changing perceptions about the place of women in different management roles at organization ABC.
The purpose of this research is to traverse women project managers as a group in order to develop a new comprehension of the current business factors within which they effort and foster new ideas that are research based for improving their abilities in business organizations. The result of this proposal could help in contributing towards the command of imperative real world issues and challenges and career enhancement chances for women considering and handling modern business activities and projects. The purpose of this research proposal is also to identify numerous suggestions for later research that develops on women’s issues within an organization by highlighting several essential manners in which organizations could effectively build up and advance their women leaders and managers accordingly.
This research proposal has two other purposes as well. The first one is to obtain knowledge and a better comprehension of several challenges that happen for female managers and leaders within an organization. Through the process of study, the challenges will be examined and elaborated on in detail. The second purpose is to learn and identify how female managers and leaders (or the employees) utilize feminine managerial approaches to reach better and greater effectiveness. The research aims at offering knowledge about the current situations in the business environment comprising women as the immediate boss or in administration and explains the factors that cause changes within the business environment.
The long term goal of this research is to establish a better comprehension of the issues a challenge encountered by women managers using better analysis and outline the conceptual framework using a comprehensive review of kinds of literature and industry practices in association with glass ceilings. Specifically, the research proposal has the following sub objectives that would help in shaping the learning as well:
According to Schreiner et al. 2018, employment and social trends all over the globe demonstrate that the number of women at present is increasing, and today majority of the women are trying to enter into different professions and occupations that were traditionally termed and labelled as masculine. In addition to this, women leaders are approaching and steep forward to assist employees and their well being and diversity along with equity and inclusion efforts. However, that work is not getting identified anyhow (Kim, Sinatra and Seyranian 2018). It is evident that when managers support employee well being and organizational prioritize their DEI, employees are happier, less burned out and are less likely to leave their jobs.
According to Hamilton and Finley 2019, women play a vital role in contemporary business and are known for gaining more power and influencing the world of business positively and towards a better edge. Across and over a range of industries, greater gender equality assists organizations in creating new products, services and businesses for the customers and the market side by side. With an evolving number of multinational companies such as IBM, General Motors and others recruiting female managers as leaders, the trend towards women in a leadership position now seems to be on the rise. Men and women inevitably have different experiences and backgrounds that are responsible for shaping their approach towards business (Karacabey, Belliba? and Adams 2022). Testing each other and cooperating with people who think in a different manner can breed creativity, thereby promoting the new ideas and concepts that push the organizations to move forward. While knowledge and technical skills are the basics of career growth and success, the majority of the organizations, irrespective of their industries, are consistently citing different soft skills as the most desirable professional attributes (Jiménez- Castillo, and Sánchez- Fernández 2019). Even though characteristics such as effective communication, self awareness, empathy are complex to evaluate and measure, they are highly valued and are capable of making a real and huge difference to the bottom line of business.
According to Jiménez- Castillo, and Sánchez- Fernández 2019, Soft skills and emotional intelligence might prove a key competitive edge for women managers and leaders in business. These competencies incorporating emotional self awareness, conflict management, adaptability and teamwork are imperative for effective leadership within the workplace, and it has been recently estimated that women contribute in over $20 trillion in consumer spending every year, demonstrating a bigger and better growth. However, the concept of the glass ceiling is significantly profound in the organization across different industries (Offermann and Coats 2018). The glass ceiling could be referred to as the impenetrable; however, invisible barriers that keep a qualified individual who are a part of a race or gender minority from ascending to high level positions in organizations of different shapes and sizes primarily due to their race or gender.
For women, the glass wall refers to the criteria or phenomenon of occupational segregation where female leaders and managers tend to be concentrated in business support functions such as human resources, finance, and administration sometimes (Ugolini et al. 2020). In these roles, women have restricted decision making power and abilities towards any strategic input and therefore restricted opportunities and advantages to rising on the organization in the long run.
Research methodology is referred to the strategy of the researcher to identify and address the research problem (Snyder 2019). It comprises of the overall research philosophy, strategy, approach, design, data collection and process of data analysis as well. After collecting the data, the relevant conclusion could be made in a relevant manner considering the secondary data collection method for this case. In order to collect more information on this topic and about the organization, competitors (both direct and indirect) could be considered (Pandey and Pandey 2021). The aspects of which both the organization operates must be considered, and this would help in identifying the existing positioning of organization ABC within the industry and across the globe (Mohajan 2018).
In addition to effective competitor analysis, the information could also be drawn from existing customer surveys and feedback over the past years. This would help in identifying the trends of the customer buying and the influence of women on the biggest decisions for the organization. It would also help in identifying the factors that are responsible for influencing the decision, and accordingly, environmental sources could also be analyzed effectively. Using the secondary data collection method will help organization ABC in validating the primary research if conducted in future and develop a better understanding and analysis of the topic of research. For this, organization ABC will use several peers reviewed academic articles and journals about the topic of research. Statistical calculations will also be performed on the data to get the relation between the effect of the topic chosen and the conclusion drawn accordingly. This would enhance the overall reliability of data for future research on the same topic.
