Just in time is being considered as an inventory system which is very affective in management practices. Just in time is the method that can help to manage the inventory system in the workplace. In another word, it can be said that by using the JIT management technique, it becomes easier for the organization increase its performance efficiency as well as cut the cost by reducing the amount of wastage (Zarandi & Kayvanfar, 2015). The purpose of this study is to analyze different journal articles and identify the issues. The three selected articles are ‘Lean thinking: reduction of waste, lead time, cost through lean manufacturing tools and technique’, ‘An alternative solution technique of the JIT lot-splitting model for supply chain management’ and ‘Quality management approaches and their impact on firms? financial performance–An Australian study’. At the end of this study recommendations have been provided, which can be beneficial for the organizations to implement the Just in time strategy in the workplace in right manner.
Modi and Thakkar (2014) stated that in case of increasing the efficiency of the management, the just in time technique is being utilized in the workplace. By applying the just in time technique, the waste which is associated with the excess inventory, overproduction and others material related issues can be effectively solved. By maintaining the uniform production system, the financial cost can be decreased. It also helps to reduce the inventory as well as the labor in the project. By maintaining continuous improvement as well as increasing employee flexibility, Just in time approach helps to reduce the working time. On the other hand, by arguing this Nahum-Shani, Hekler and Spruijt-Metz (2015) stated that in order to properly maintain the equipment, the JIT approach helps to introduce the effective preventive maintenance of equipment, which helps the organization to avoid time issues. By reducing the waiting time as well as the storage, the JIT management approach is beneficial for every organization. It cannot be denied that the JIT management approach is beneficial for encouraging the fastest machinery production setup. Depending on the demands of the products, the production process is being started. As its result, the company is being able to deliver the standard quality of materials to the customers.
Not only the JIT approach is cost effective but also it is beneficial in terms of developing stronger relationship as well as employee satisfaction in the workplace. By encouraging the multiple skill of the employees, JIT approach helps the management to bring creativity and innovation in the workplace. It helps to maintain the flexibility and effective team working atmosphere in the workplace. As its result, production system in the organization can be improved, which can help to gain the competitive advantage in the market. By arguing this Nahum-Shani, Hekler and Spruijt-Metz (2015) stated that in case of implementing JIT approach in the workplace, the operational cost and non-value-added costs can be reduced. It cannot be denied that after introducing the JIT approaches in the workplace, it has become easier for the management to introduce an effective supply chain process. After the introduction of Just in time approach in operation management, the automated purchasing process has been introduced in the workplace. In this process, the suppliers are being able to get the electronic message, which has helped to improve the efficiency of the employees.
According to Modi and Thakkar (2014), by following the JIT approach, the limited numbers of suppliers are being introduced as its result, the firm makes sure that it is working with the reliable suppliers. By continuing this, it can be said that in order to get long term benefit for the organization, the JIT approach helps to meet the requirement of supply chain management and production growth in the firm. By synchronizing the supply of the raw materials, lower production rate can be achieved. By maintaining the uniform production system, the financial cost can be decreased. It also helps to reduce the inventory as well as the labor in the project. The aim of introducing the JIT system is to avoid the excess work pressure and delay in work process. It has been identified that in most of the cases, the small manufacturing firms face the entrepreneurship issues in case of implementing the business plan in an effective manner. It is true that the operational behavior in the workplace is getting affected due to the implementations of different operational strategies.
Analyzing the workplace environment in the operational context, it has been identified that in most of the cases, bringing innovation by maintaining the quality of performance has become the major concern for the organizations. Most of the cases, the managers are not being able to maintain the standard quality of performance in the workplace, which has impacted on the firm productivity. On the other hand, innovation has become necessary for the firms to maintain the strong brand position in the competitive market. Chung, Lin and Srivastava (2015), opined that in the performance evaluation process, it has been identified that quality orientation should be the major concern of the firms for sustaining in the competitive business environment. By conducting the research on Australian Bureau of statistical growth, it has been analyzed that quality management orientation is very important in the firm for bringing the statistical growth in the workplace (Goetsch & Davis, 2014). In case of bringing the growth in the financial performance, effective quality management initiatives is required.
As stated by O’Neill, Sohal and Teng (2016), in order to bring the quality management, it is important for the firms to focus on introducing the Just in time management approach. The article ‘Quality management approaches and their impact on firms? financial performance–An Australian study’ has shed light on the process for differentiating the quality approach from financial performance of in an organization. By evaluating the quality orientation, it can be expected to bring the positive financial performance outcome in the workplace. Although, the author has tried to shed light on the quality management approaches and its significant impact on the financial approaches in the firm, but it cannot be denied that the in case of different organizational perspectives, the approach may vary. In order to implement an effective operational performance management system in the workplace, it has become necessary for the organizations to bring the JIT approaches (Chen, Khare & Huang, 2014). The study has mentioned that quality management impacts on the financial performance in the firm, however, it cannot be denied that some of the cases, financial performance of the company drive the quality management strategies in the workplace. Depending on the financial stabilities in the workplace, the management takes decision regarding bringing the quality management approaches in the workplace.
Just in time management technique has higher level of contribution in the supply chain management process in an organization. In case of various manufacturing processes in the workplace, it becomes tough for the organization to optimize the integrated inventory models in an effective manner. As per my understanding, bringing development in operation management process, large organizations can effectively develop the inventory management model. In this article, three layers of supply chain model has been described. It is true that depending on the current organizational situation, improving the operational management system, introduction of effective supply chain model has become necessary. By arguing this Chung, Lin and Srivastava (2015), opined that in order to synchronize the production flow in the firm, the multi buyer integrated supply chain model has become essential. In this article the development of JIT lot-splitting model has been described for maintaining the coordination between single supplier and single buyer. By maintaining the balance between demand and production level, the author has described the importance of integrated production policies. In order to decorate the organizational environment, the implementation of JIT approach is important. By implementing JIT approach, large organizations like Toyota has gained huge financial benefits.
Chung, Lin and Srivastava (2015), cost functions have become the necessary for the organizations so that the companies can be easily increase the financial benefits. On the other hand, it has been identified in the article that by developing the effective JIT technique in the management, the production as well as distribution in the organization can be effectively managed. In order to highlight the supply chain integrated process in the workplace, the author has highlighted the situation in Toyota. It can be said that in order to drive the business performance of Toyota, the JIT model has brought positive impact (Chung, Lin & Srivastava, 2015). Due to rapid changes in global economics, the trend of market contribution has been changed. It cannot be denied that depending on the current emerging global economic situation, most of the Turkish and Indian organizations have focused on adopting the just in time technique in the workplace. In has been identified that depending on the changing supply chain and significance of the suppliers in case of driving the organizational efficiency. It cannot be denied that depending on the efficiency of the suppliers in the organization, the relationship between the buyers and suppliers has got influenced. Analyzing the entire research, it can be said that the author has shed light on just in time techniques in case of developing a smoother supply chain process. Not only the supply chain, but also the author has shed light on the efficiency of JIT technique in case of delivering the standard quality of performance to the buyers. It cannot be denied that the technique and its mathematical equations, which have been mentioned in this research, basically based on the Indian and Turkish organizations. In case of analyzing the situation in the global context, the article may not be applicable. On the other hand, employee efficiency is also very important for adopting the Just in time approach.
Analyzing the above articles, it has been identified that Just in time approach is hard to get implemented in the workplace. JIT approach helps the management to bring creativity and innovation in the workplace. Not only the short time goals, implementing the JIT approach in the workplace, the long term goals of the organizations can be easily achieved. In case of implementing the Just in time approach, it is important for the employee to have the capacity for balancing the situation. In case of dealing with the JIT approaches, proper training and development process are needed. On the other hand, it is true that depending on the current economic situation, the effective production strategy needs to be implemented by the management. Adding innovation and technological equipment in production unit, production process can be improved. The major issues, which have been identified that all the articles have been developed depending on specified industries. In that case, in the global context, the research solutions cannot be applicable. As the JIT system is interconnected with the supply chain process, in that case, it can be said that in order to implement the effective JIT model, it is important for the organizations to adopt the effective delivery process. If the efficient employees will be recruited in the delivery process, it can help to complete thee delivery function within time. Analyzing both internal and external environment in the workplace, the production strategies can be properly implemented by the operational management.
Conclusion
In this study, it can be concluded that Just in time approach is very important to be implemented in the workplace for improving the production process of the company. In order to gain the competitive advantage in the current industry, it plays an essential role. It cannot be denied that depending on the current emerging global economic situation, most of the Turkish and Indian organizations have focused on adopting the just in time technique in the workplace. If the effective operational management system can be implemented in the workplace, in that case, the labor and others inventory costs can be reduced. This strategy can effectively develop the strong relationship between the suppliers and buyers. Analyzing the articles, it has been identified that although the Just in time management technique is beneficial for the management, in order to implement the strategies, the effective employee engagement is required. If the company can be able to develop the effective just in time technique, it can help to make the smoother supply chain system.
