Li-Fi has been one of the advanced wireless technology that can be considered as the future technology allowing the enterprises to avail the maximum speed of data exchange facility. Li-Fi stands for Light Fidelity that is a VLC (Visible Light Communication) system that can allow the enterprises to exchange heavy loads of data with high speed. Current adoption still include the installation of the routers and the networks that is allowing the organizations for exchanging the data and information. Li-Fi is still not informed to every individual of society and adoption rate is much more less than the other wired or wireless network.
Research question
Following are the research questions developed for this report:
How much efficient could be Li-Fi for the enterprises?
Will it be capable of mitigating the issues in the present enterprise network scenarios?
What are the challenges and problems in the adoption of Li-Fi?
Literature Review
Li-Fi is capable of allowing the enterprises to transform the existing LEDs into routers and allowing the organization to transform the heavy load of the data and information among the different stakeholders of the organization. Sing and Vaish (2018) explained that the Li-Fi technology accommodates the photo-detector in manner to allow the light signal receiving and processing of the signal processing element in manner to again transform the data or information into ‘streamable’ content.
Perwej (2017) defined the “LED light bulb as a semiconductor light source meaning that the constant current of electricity supplied to an LED light bulb can be dipped and dimmed, up and down at extremely high speeds, without being visible to the human eye.” The signal processing technology could be used for signal processing technology and thereafter sending and sharing the data with much higher speed after embedding the data in its beam (Soltani et al., 2017).
According to (Divakar et al., 2017), tiny changes within the rapid dimming of LED bulb can be used that can be alternatively converted by the ‘receiver’ into electric signal. In manner to regain or retransfer the collected data, the signals can be again converted into a binary data stream that will be helpful in recognising the audio, video, and web applications those could be capable of providing services using the internet-enabled devices (Zahrani, 2018).
It is also identified that the Li-Fi can gain much higher speed as compared to that of the Wi-Fi technology and it will be assuring the exchange of the data and information up to 1 Gbps that is much comparatively higher than the other wireless technology (Goswami & Shukla, 2017). The light will be major medium for the travelling and exchange of the data and information and hence, the developed network will be requiring the light for the exchange of the data and information. Smartphone company ‘apple’ is looking forward to embed the Li-Fi technology within the existing system (Kumbhar et al., 2017). Recent experiment in Dubai assured the efficient and effective establishment of the Li-FI technology for exchanging different media of the data and information.
Discussion/Analysis
The above literature review explains that the basic need of the enterprises ‘i.e. secure and high speed exchange of the data and information over the network’ could be established using the Li-FI technology. And hence, the reliability on this technology is higher as compared to that of the Wi-Fi. The lagging factor is the availability of light and short range. However, short range connectivity can be a positive value as it would be allowing the organization in establishing a secured connection that can fulfil the basic needs and requirements.
Findings
Li-Fi can provide the high speed interconnectivity between the internal staffs and the consumers connected with the network
Higher speed than the Wi-Fi however, short range as compared to the Wi-Fi.
Much secured and large volume of data and information could be transformed over the network.
Transmit and receiving can be smooth and faster with minimum consumption of power.
Cost factor can decrease the rate of the growth of adoption.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that the Li-Fi technology can be the future technology that can allow the organization to be dependent over the network. It can allow the enterprise in managing the same delivered in an efficient and much secured way. The cost, range, and need of light for transmission are the lagging factors those could also be helpful for the organization in keeping their network highly secured. Answers of the questions have been found using the literature review.
