London Aquatics Centre is one of the largest projects intended for the Olympic Games before London Olympic Games. The construction of this project, which is located in East London and Stratford, one of the places renovated day by day in London, started in July 2008. The architect of the project completed on July 27, 2011 is Zaha Hadid. We should also take into account that Zaha Hadid has touched the project after the initial version.
Before the Olympic Games, we’ll firstly speak about the funds allocated for the projects intended for the Olympic Games in this study. Along with it, we can see that whether these funds are in compliance with the amount previously intended. If we compare the funds allocated for the projects, it will be appropriate. If we’ll take into consideration that the location of such a project in the territory of East London developing every year up to the present has contributed to the development of the territory. In addition, the unique appearance of the project in terms of design is also a goal. This factor just encouraged an additional design approach. It goes without saying that Zaha Hadid’s urbanistic approach and this great structure of the ceiling is in synthesis with water and relief. Of course, its construction requires many funds. Here, this is not the only approach, the athletes will swim in standard pools and audience will watch these competitions. Here, the approach is that how comfortable conditions are created for athletes in internal planning; external factors will also add color to the general appearance of the city. So, the project’s location near the river has a great role. Some games were held in the river during the Olympic Games. Just due to these important factors, at present, this great complex is the basis of the development of Stratford.
If we have a look on the Olympic Stadium, we can see that the stadium of which the construction started since 2007 before the Olympic Games. The capacity of the project which completed in 2011 is 80.000 persons. This figure has been decreased up to half after the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Before that, the construction of the stadium located near the above mentioned London Aquatics Center cost for 486 million pound sterling, which is the project constructed for 2012 London Summer Olympic Games and for which most of the funds were allocated. It should also be noted that the main reason for the budget being large is the development of the stadium’s design with the unique iron construction; however, they were also used for the illumination of the stadium. A number of sports competitions of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games were held in this stadium, and this lead to the planning of additional facilities and additional places. At present, Olympic Stadium hosts the football games of West Ham United. We can also see that the projects constructed during the Olympic Games are located in the territories of East London and Stratford.

“East Village London” Olympic campus where athletes and auxiliary staff taking part in the Olympic Games lived during the competitions was also intended for the competitions to be held before the Olympic Games. The above mentioned campus is constructed far away from the noise of Stratford in a very quiet environment, of course, here, the convenience of athletes is also taken into consideration. After the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, this campus was sold and mainly leased by a large agency. At present, the territory allocated for the campus is enlarged and new residential buildings are constructed..
But why “East London”? After the above mentioned projects, new trade centers, dormitories and residential buildings are constructed in the territory of Stratford. Along with the funds allocated and spent for the projects during 2012 Summer Olympic Games, we can see the impact of these projects up to day; after 2012 East London, particularly, Stratford experienced a large-scale change.

The impressive fact is UK Companies have built almost the entire project on their own. Almost 9.3 billion USD has been invested in the project. The construction corporations like P Elliott have gained a lot in the season of recession. The constructions were handed over to a team of best British corporations like Balfour Beatty, Sir Robert McAlpine and Carillion. According to the reports, ODA has closely worked with the contractors and that has played into limiting the cost of construction. Many British or Irish Corporations have won big contracts for the Olympics. About 600 thousand pounds are won by the Welsh businessman in these contracts. Another case study by ISg suggests that the development of East London is also a result of the Olympic constructions. The aquatic centers and sports arenas were opened up for the common people after the Olympics. However, one of the major significances of the sports complex was the design and the facilities of these constructions. Almost all of them are run by renewable energy and have major security functions, which makes these arenas world class.
