Now that your team has completed individual performance plans, your new task is to carry out all the actions contained in your performance plan to enable the team goal of developing an e-commerce venture proposal for presentation to the board of Apparel Brands. You will need to meet to discuss achievement of individual goals and provide feedback on others’ work. You will need to work through and resolve any issues with your team in order to achieve your team goal/s.
The project action plan will take place in different phases which are discussed below.
Niche Clarification
Niche Clarification is a task which will be carried out by the marketing manager and he is allowed to get assistance from some of the direct-reports. Niche clarification involves an organization defining a particular niche where its products will be targeted to (Toften & Hammervoll, 2013). It can give a business more power. Apparel will sell men and women’s clothing and footwear hence the role of the marketing manager is to research on which niche of men and women will find appeal in the kind of clothing that apparel intends to produce.
The marketing manager has so far come up with online surveys and questionnaires which will be used to carry out a survey that will be analysed to find out which segment of the market the company’s products will appeal to (Mohapatra, 2013). The marketing team will assist in carrying out the surveys and questionnaire distribution. The marketing manager however finds a challenge in data analysis as he finds it to be an overwhelming task, given the time that he is expected to provide feedback.
Industry study and research is a role which has been assigned to the Sales Manager. The manager is to do an investigation on current industry trends and anything affecting e-business. This will be done through benchmarking with companies who have e-businesses like the one Apparel wants to establish. The sales manager will also attend an e-business summit and visit the government offices to find out everything that is required to set up such a business (Chaffey, 2015). All these are to be documented as it will assist Apparel in knowing current market and how they will position themselves to get into it. The sales manager is on track as he has visited government offices and attended the e-business summit and documented the same. Currently benchmarking is being worked on but the Sales Manager feels that he cannot do this task alone.
A business plan will lay out a strategy for the company for the next few years to come. It is very important as it will give the company direction with regards to the business. The business development manager’s task is to come up with a solid business plan for the company. This will involve consulting many other departments as the business plan has a number of areas that require different input from each department. It will outline all the marketing strategies and the budget for the e-business project. It will assist the organization in knowing if there is any deviation. The business development director is doing the business plan with assistance from a team from various departments and so far is on track. There is however an issue when it comes to meetings as some departments have not been attending meetings regularly and this threatens the timeliness of the business plan.
Funding
Funding is the role assigned to the Operations Director. His role is to look at the company’s performance and profitability and make a decision on how Apparel will fund the new project with the required $30,000. The Operations Director has also made projections on project performance so that it is determined if it is viable or not (Chaffey, 2015). The director however faces a challenge as he says one of the other senior directors feels that the budget should be reviewed downwards.
Investment is the role of the finance manager. The task will be to tendering on who will come up with the company website and ensure that the $30000 is spent as required. He will be accountable on how the money is invested in the e-business. The tenders have been sent out and short listing done. Everything is on track and a down-payment is to be paid to the vendor.
Building of E-store
The web-developer that is chosen through the tendering process is responsible for building the company’s e-store. The developer is expected to come up with an e-store that exudes vibrancy and freshness, which shoppers will be able to relate to. The website should also be easy to navigate and have attractive colors (Seymour & Hussein, 2014).The web developer is on course but feels that he is not getting all the necessary cooperation from the team because she is from another company.
Content Development
This is the role of the marketing manager and the web developer. The marketing manager is to ensure appropriate product pictures are taken and that prices are determined and also indicates. Any models to be used for product display have to be contacted in advance so that the company budgets for them (Seymour & Hussein, 2014). This area is quite behind as it needs a lot to be done and a lot of coordination. Models are yet to be identified and also some of the content is yet to be formulated.
Launching
Once everything has been done on the e-store, it will be launched so that the public are aware of it. This will be the role of the social media manager and IT manager. All the relevant stakeholders have to be notified and the relevant advertising has to be done. Invitations must be made on time and any service providers needed for that day engaged beforehand (Seymour & Hussein, 2014). The courier company for deliveries must be engaged on time to begin doing deliveries. The IT manager is to ensure all the necessary IT infrastructure is in place to enable the launch. The plans for the launch are on course.
Evaluation and analysis will be done after the launch to ensure everything is running smoothly. It will assist in loophole identification and getting customer feedback. It will ensure that any issues are sorted as fast as possible. The social media manager is in-charge of this role. This is to be done by assessing customer feedback and monitoring the site traffic (Chaffey, 2015). The Social media manager feels that more staff are needed so that longer hours of service are offered to customers.
Overall Team Feedback
A meeting is held and all team members are updated on each of their areas. They are also explained to how each role affects the other and how eventually timelines can be affected (Mohapatra, 2013). Performance issues are noted under each area and are to be addressed per individual and task.
