Pandemic has brought in a lot of changes in the organizational structure and business shifting from hierarchical models to cross functional and teams that is self-manageable (Lund et al. 2021). There has been transition in team work as it moved to online interactions in video conferencing such as Zoom, Skype or Google meet from physical meet ups. The concept of work from home has been appreciated by many; however, hindered by social interaction (Tannenbaum et al. 2021). As pandemic is somewhat at the bay, the teams at workplaces will require an environment where autonomy is retained and offered a sense of belongingness as well (Jankelova et al. 2021). Working in teams is easier when there is an efficient leader, have a clearly defined relationship and ideas that defined the interdependencies and interfaces among the group of team members, clear communication among team members. Shared history or dreams to aspire and having same goal or objective (Van Ngyuen et al. 2020). After Covid-19, opportunities in job emerged where skilled employees were able to switch to boundaryless career or climb up the organizational ladder. Although Covid-19 has cancelled out on features of work life like presenteeism, being regular at work (Lindsjorn et al. 2021). A report developed by Deloitte Access Economics, almost two-third of the job will be based on soft skills (Babapour et al. 2021). Leadership quality is another important aspect which is required in employees for implementing vision and strategies for others, helping others and accepting feedbacks from work acquaintances (Pederson et al. 2020). Oral and written communication skills is required to be efficiently working within team as it enhances the interdisciplinary knowledge and public relations, advertising, negotiation. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial for being on toes in team for sharing an open mindset, working under pressure, meeting unexpected deadlines, and prioritization of tasks. Critical thinking and problem solving are the highest most required soft skills by the employees to increase the performance in team. Even before the onset of coronavirus, there has been a huge gap between skill development in digital and employee. The pandemic has increased the need for digitalization to help the businesses flourish and grow, to stay connected with the world. In a team, communication and emotional intelligence is a pre requisite for building connection with humans in every role in job. Emotional Intelligence help team members to be empathetic towards others with a set of good communication skills. A pandemic opened doors for various job profiles to be accessed by individuals without being associated with one organization for long time. Even if someone wants to be connected in an organization for long in the dynamic unstable working environment, the employee has to develop the skills of being creative and innovative. Although use of technologies in business can harvest profits; however, individuals with creative and innovative minds are responsible for devising the technology in suitable industry. Individuals can experiment and explore the different methods and techniques that can derive an insightful and well-established decisions as they are responsible for developing strategies and business modules, setting an edge of their knowledge in front of the team members. These are the necessary skills required to be successful in post pandemic world.
Covid 19 emerged as a pandemic which grappled the entire world and led to economic slowdown leading to rise in unemployment and decreasing workforce (Chanana 2021). Those employees are retained in the organization who are skilful in different aspects of job. During pandemic, the connection was kept established within team force with the help of digital platforms (Manokha 2020). There was no physical contact within the team members that led to lose of personal touch. Although team members stand by for each other, helping in pulling off the unknown. I work well in teams as I have good communication skills and bonding with the team member. A times, working with team could be difficult due to difference in view points and opinions which led to clashes. To avoid the differences, it is important to develop certain skill set that keeps a competitive advantage in the job field. Post pandemic there has been oceans of opportunities due to immense utilisation of digitalization and that can be explored by individuals by optimising their skills. Team players play a crucial role in maintaining and developing trust and communication (Hitt et al. 2020). Organization must be adapting to new redefined team strategies to be incorporated in their business model. However, individuals must keep on skilling up themselves for being ahead than others. Individuals can develop skill sets of being flexible. Post pandemic the nature of work and working has changed hence it is expected from the employees to be flexible at their work, adaptable and accepting towards new challenges. Candidates must focus on developing leadership skills that can help them in guiding others and leading the team from front, being accountable for mistake makes them eligible and worthy as an asset to the organization. Communication is key for being marketable in the industry. Written or verbal skills deepened the knowledge of understanding advertising, research, management, public relations, rapport building (Khahro et al. 2020). Not every employee has the ability to think critically and rationally and these are the now one of the top most desired skills in the market. A person with an ability of critical thinking can objectively evaluate data for making a concise informed decision. Critical thinkers are more prone to ask questions for having a wide knowledge about the related topic. It is evitable to brush up on technological skills (Amis and Greenwood 2020). With the growing advancement in the technological sector and pandemic multiplied the need of digitalization, it has become more important for the employees to be aware of technological development and new skills. Investment will be made on people who understand technology more than only on technology. Being creativity can be an added advantage as thinking different within the team in a creative way will throw more lights and helping to earn recognition and acknowledgement. In the team, whoever comes up with brilliant ideas are considered more as it benefits the organization to stand different than others due to the creative thinking from the mind of the employee. Employees can keep on learning about new skills and advancement which will keep them one step ahead than others.
I work better with team members. I delay tasks when I am working alone whereas with team, I feel motivated to reach the end line with the group. However, at times, I am at my best in being productive when all alone. I am enthusiastic, patience, believe myself, acceptable to criticism, and retain the goal and benefits come along with the job. I along with a team of 10 members were assigned a task of preparing a presentation along with my team members, each one of us were assigned with topics to be done separately in the beginning and compiling it later. I have been enthusiastic, taking interest into the task. I planned group meetings where everyone would come and suggest their inputs to work on assisting others for the improvement of the assignment. I kept calm and was patience, noting down everyone’s input for the task. I prefer in avoiding conflicts with team members. I believed in myself promising to pull off the task in the best possible way. My team members criticised my inputs if they considered it wrong; however, only constructive criticism is accepted. Although I put a stand of myself firmly which ever, I believed to be the most effective among others and made it a point to be accepted and incorporated in the assignment. I worked hard and kept following the goal that I had in my mind to deliver the best topic within the group. I always believe that trying harder and practice can make the most efficient version of myself. I do not like getting stuck. If I ever get stuck while devising a solution, I will move to the other, and try thinking of a different solution that would help me reach my goal. It is important to give sufficient time to the task or else it will get difficult to come up with a concrete solution to any problem. A task takes time to be started off with and to deliver it within the deadline. The only thing I think I need to develop is perseverance. It helps us to stay motivated and keep continuing with the tasks till the end. Perseverance is a key to success and need to be developed further. I have a rational mind, creative and believe in originating new ideas with leadership quality that helps me in taking up a task through competition. I have generally enjoyed a competitive environment which has given me an opportunity to thrive in and prove my competency to the others.
I will be a competitive worker who preferred skilling up and keeping oneself at an advantageous stage leading. I will apply these in the preliminary stage of my business internship that will keep my mind open to new ideas, the demand of the organization from me, my expectations, and maintaining resilience to achieve the goals set by myself. I will keep learning with evolving dynamics of the organization, be flexible and accepting. It is recommended for employees or upcoming candidates to skill up after the new age nature of workforce.
