Print Media Lives OnPrepare: In Writing for the Mass Media, Stovall (2014) states, “While some may question whether or not newspapers and magazines have a future, there is little doubt that they have a present.” Since the turn of the century, we have heard relentless chatter about the death of print media. The reality, however, is that print media has survived. Of course, it is not the bustling industry of times past and there is a constant struggle to reinvent itself to keep up with consumser desires for “on-demand” news and information. Neverthless, it is still a form of news that future journalists must embrace. In reality, every piece of news, no matter how it is delivered begins with words on paper. Read Chapter 6 in Writing for the Mass Media related to the types of news stories that can be found in print media. Reflect: Once you have read the chapter, think about what print media can provide that no other form of media can. Are there particular aspects of print media that simply cannot be duplicated elsewhere? What specific elements of print media have the ability to draw an audience? Write: Now that you have considered the attractiveness of print media, write a 250- to 300-word response that discusses the elements that you feel it possess that other forms of media do not. In your initial post, you must include at least one in-text citation from the reading material and an additional in-text citation from a scholarly source that you locate in the Ashford University Library or from another credible source. At the end of your post, include your name and a full reference for all sources cited in the body of your post. All citations and references must adhere to APA style guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Check it! Your post must be submitted through Grammarly and Turnitin prior to submission. Respond to Peers: After you have written your initial post, read the posts of your peers and respond to at least two others about their thoughts on the print media industry. Your responses should address them by name, be between 100 and 150 words in length, and you must include your name at the end of each response.
