Personal branding is a step by step process to establish an intended impression in the mind of employers. The report gives clear internal auditor requirements as it is my future business that I want to do after graduation. The report also cover on distinct impressions intended employer gets after a conducting a personal presence online presence. Settings up a profile in the social networks to reach potential business that is most preferred ( Courtis & Zaid 2012). September). Through a thorough conduction of an online presence, it helps to know the impression that companies or the corporate society are having towards an individual. This is because of its role and employers uses it to learn more about the interviewer and can also be used against the interviewer (Reinholt, Pedersen & Foss, 2011). The report includes a SWOT analysis of the personal brand to shows the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and threats. Social Online Networking also contributes to proper positioning of an individual profile (Labrecque, Markos & Milne 2011).
Under accounting, the preferred job I would like to work after my advanced diploma is being an auditor. My potential employers are large sized companies where I would like to work as an internal auditor. Through the job advertisement in the social media and business magazines, it is a good paying job and more so my area of interest. I prefer the auditing of large enterprises because it is office based work and also more involving. The requirements of internal auditors according to Grant Thornton and Youi Pty Ltd adverts are,
Through Google search about my social network sharing and comments, I have realized I have an interest on business adverts and keep uploading business news that I come across. I am on par with the current economic trends in Australia and also at a global level. I have a fundamental interest in the current large business on their way of presenting their audited report. I have shared on Twitter, Facebook and what sap on the frauds associated with different firms that arise from the failure of poor audit skills. Through keenness in the business trends that give me the interest to be an auditor to ensure that such mistakes do not arise in future.
The analysis is clear that my interest in being an auditor is as result of challenges that current businesses face. Sharing business magazine on my social sites is another point that arises in most of my uploads. I show a trend to follow companies’ issues resulting from those journals and giving my view with the knowledge I have from studying accounting. Mostly, the updates are on Facebook and Twitter where a record of business updates can be seen with comments a long discussion with my social media friends. Some of my friends are my classmates who we discuss extensively on solutions of the frauds resulting from accounting errors.
Through the uploads and comments in my social sites, they show an apparently my interest in business and particularly accounting related activities. It is true that my profile presence would impress my employer in future since I have precise knowledge of the current business environment (Dwyer, Hiltz & Passerini 2007). According to Your Pty Ltd requirement in a position of the internal auditor is a right prove that my profile can match that of Youi Ltd. My knowledge and curiosity can help me to assess risk and give solutions or ways to mitigate the risks. It is because I follow on how business solves unexpected problems.
Another vital role that employers expect from an internal auditor is the knowledge of corporate laws which through learning I have adequate knowledge on that. The other functions of an auditor include the ability to prepare official audit work papers, ability to research on technical issues and give solutions to the problems, liaison with tax division and coaching and training of people under the internal auditor. My online profile clearly shows the ability and willingness to work on all the employees’ qualifications.
The strengths of my profile show an apparent interest in business trend. I is a major power that helps create an impressive image to employers. Confidence in what I know and willingness to find out the more revolving business world are most of my strengths.
The weakness is criticizing poor performing firms in the country. Another weakness is unable to work with teamwork.
Opportunities are realized by correcting the mistakes that arise from business in the magazines and also following economic challenges faced by different firms. Through the discussed auditing problem in my social sites create an impression that I can get room to improve things when given an opportunity.
Threats that arise in the self-analysis and what an employer expects shows that it is hard for employers to accommodate fresh graduates. In the two business adverts of the firms, I would like to work for; their requirements show an experience of more than two years therefore that poses a threat to my choice. The SWOT analysis tries to create a positive impression and to show that through the education and being conversant in the business world they have all it take for the job. (Kasavana, Nusair & Teodosic 2010).
Strengths- I got analytical skills that every employer would be looking for. Communication is not a problem since through my education in the advanced diploma has given me enough knowledge on how to report problems arising from the audit. That stands to be my strengths in the competitive job market.
Weaknesses- The weakness that I can experience is unable to corporate with lazy team members. A strong team needs to be focused and working hard and smart to achieve the set objectives.
Opportunities-The analytical skills and communication skills give me a position in both large and small firms. Mostly, I can handle problems in small enterprises from the start that will give me the experience to work with a great firm with subsidiary firms.
Threats- The threat that is in place is competition with people with the bachelor degree in accounting competing to work in the firm of my choice.
The SWOT analysis tries to create a positive impression and to show that through the education and being conversant in the business world they have all it take for the job. (Kasavana, Nusair & Teodosic, 2010).
The two social networks that are most preferred in this case scenario is Career online social network and LinkedIn. Career network was launched in 20yrs ago where it consist, digital boards, where businesses can give their content. It attracts small businesses and most of their target audiences. Through presenting of the profile, it shows that it can reach to potential employers particularly to smaller businesses with the need of an internal auditor.
Social media is the best way to advertise the skills and knowledge that one has and also to reach to business owners. The reason to publish my profile in this social media is that it has a broad coverage of more than 100 million people and most of them are small business owners.
Another preferred social network is LinkedIn which help them to reach to potential employers. It is true that the site has a great impact when advertising skill to business. The Social was launched back in 2002, and it has increasingly grown and expanded. I t is the most popular social site for professional networking with 24 languages. This clearly shows the position of the personal brand is not only in Australia but worldwide. This gives students a chance to get employed to other parts of the globe. The motivating factor is the opportunity to work outside the state, and that leads to many students using the site (Swan & Shih 2005).
Another way to get adverts of the positions in the areas of interest is another factor that leads to students uses the sites. The social site help to know the changes that happen in different sections of the profession and what are the solutions to those problems. Through its rapid growth over the last years, it has coverage of 400 million of registered users. Therefore this becomes hard for students to learn a new position being an advert and apply for them. It connects people from similar industries with local professions. Through the connection, it gives the ability to display business related information and trend and statistics in the market. (Jackson, 2009).
Conclusion and Recommendation
A good profile creates an impressive image of an employee to the employers. Through the report above it shows how one can plan to have an impressive brand name. Through the analysis of the job requirement, it is clear that employers look for competence and in most cases, they can consider online presentation to award jobs (Tu, 2012). Therefore, it is recommendable to ensure the online presence of a prospect employer matches that of the employer.
Students should be careful on their posting on their social network sites since it has a greater contribution to future employment. More so they should consider the sites they are using to advertise their skills and attribute (Dutta, 2010). They should visit those sites that employers can reach them quickly for it to be easier to get them. SWOT analysis helps the student to know where to correct and the threats that they are facing in the job market that they need to improve on to make them competitive and most preferred. The analysis helps to identify the areas of weakness where an individual has control over and to adopt the sector beyond their control (Shepherd, 2015).According to the requirement of Grant Thornton and Youi students need to take post graduate courses in accounting.
