Precision Engineering Works Private Limited (PEW), is one of the well known actual equipment manufacturing companies which offers services mainly to the telecommunication industries which is specializes in manufacturing plastic moulding parts. Due to high reputation the company has become a very successful one. On the other hand, many suppliers are emerging due to lucrative market. The product affordability of the new entrants is also lower that PEW which is another reason for the continuously evolving issues.
In order to resolve these issues, continuous improvement plan is developed for the PEW and elaborated in this report. In order to incorporate the continuous Improvement plan the tools and techniques those are mandatory are also elaborated in this report. However, for total quality management plan the approach that has been nominated is the Six Sigma and the application of this approach is also elaborated in this report.
After analyzing the current functional and operational status of Precision Engineering Works Private Limited (PEW), it has been found that, due to many new entrants or suppliers they are facing major challenges. As a result the regular clients of Precision Engineering Works Private Limited (PEW) are getting chances for more explored options. These new companies are offering better pricing to consumers than PEW. Therefore, the current profit margin of the company is getting reduced by up to 45%. As more numbers of companies are flooding the market competition thus, more numbers of employees have opted for joining new players.
These are the main reasons for which the regular revenue of the company is getting interrupted (Hambach, Tenberg & Metternich, 2015). In order to obtain high revenue from the competitive market it is mandatory for the company to adopt continuous improvement program. Not only this but also proper managerial actions will help the business organization to crack the mandatory resources through which the company will not have to compromise with any of the operational and functional issues.
Regardless of type of the industry continuous improvement program is required to be incorporated so that, it can create successful plan for delivering functional opportunities to both their consumers and employees (Hutchins, 2016). In order to implement change management plan the four different stages that are to be followed include pan, do, check and act. The plan phase will help to identify the business opportunities so that the improvement plan can be successfully created by the business organization. Not only this but also, successful PDCA cycle can provide development in terms of capability, performance and quality (Singh & Singh, 2015). It is defined that, continuous improvement program over time can be viewed as a desirable one and can also successfully translate the quality of improvement, reduced cost and more simplified work processes.
There are the main reasons for which the measurable revenue structure of the company is getting hampered. For obtaining competitive advantages and organized revenue it is important for the company to install successful continuous improvement plan (Bodily, Nyland & Wiley, 2017). In addition to this, proper managerial and functional actions will help the business organization to crack mandatory human and physical resources through which Precision Engineering Works Private Limited will not have to compromise with any of their operational and functional issues. The wrong measures of Continuous Improvement Plan can be completely resolved by incorporation of long term focus and consistency as well (Nachiappan & Muthukumar, 2016). The problems associated to this company those are to be mitigated are also elaborated in the below section:
In order to improve the products, services and processes certain ongoing efforts are to be incorporated by the head of the business organization. This is a six step systematic approach that is used for sequential planning and implementation of the necessary improvement with the successful usage of data as well as methodology (Goldratt & Cox, 2016). In order to enable the members of the business organization familiar with the improvement process CIP should link up along with the project goals and priorities. In order to incorporate mandatory change management program the six steps that are to be followed by the business organizations are as follows:
Identification of the improvement opportunities: For successful functional and operational improvement accurate process based on the challenges and problems are mandatory for the company to identify (Jacobs, Swink & Linderman, 2015). This process should have to be identified and analyzed as well.
Analysis: After successful identification of the process the root cause of the issues should have to be analyzed accordingly. Based on the analysis result, the set of actions should be implemented. Again for achieving the target the result are to be studied and confirmed accordingly. In order to make sure that the level of performance for improvement are maintained by the business organization.
Future planning: Based on the remaining problem, future planning are to be done by PEW manufacturing company. The effectiveness of all the working principles will help to evaluate the effectiveness of the project team for setting the target of the improvement. For future business improvement many tools are there such as benchmarking, affinity diagram, force field analysis etc though which continuous improvement plan in the business organization can be implemented accordingly (First, 2016). In addition to this, process capability index and scatter diagram can also illustrate the continuous improvement for PEW.
In order to incorporate the change management program in the PEW the required resources are as follows:
Resources |
Responsibilities |
Business analysts |
The business analyst is responsible to implement new business strategies through which the company can evaluate successful business application so that the functional and operational challenges can all resolved accordingly. |
Project planner |
After analyzing the competitive market and the new entrants of similar type it has been found that the responsibility of the project planner is to plan the strategies accordingly so that they can gain successful competitive advantages and commercial revenue high than the rest of the competitors. |
Sponsors |
In order to evaluate the necessary business strategies and actions proper commercial sponsorship is also required. It has been found that, the future business structure must be evaluated or planned considering the commercial support structure and sponsored business capital (Nachiappan & Muthukumar, 2016). |
Marketing manager |
Quality is referred to as one of the most important thing that should have to be considered by the business organization to prove that their products and services are the most effective one. In order to retain the existing consumers and to garb new consumers this is mandatory for the business organization to promote their product and services successfully. The marketing manager is responsible to use the social media and other platforms accurately so that the consumers get to know more details about the quality of the offered products and services. |
In order to follow up the actions those are considered and undertake by PEW to improve the quality and validity of the products and services the actions necessary are control and monitoring. During the process control and monitoring phase the business head and the rest of the employees working for the company should monitor the phases accordingly (Hambach, Tenberg & Metternich, 2015). The project status report should be follow up and based on that feedback provided by the consumers and the existing members mandatory changes should be performed accordingly.
The project status report should follow up and monitored accordingly so that necessary changes can be incorporated to the change management plan in terms of continuous improvement program. Pareto chart and control chart should be used by the business analysts to make sure that the company is following mandatory change management program.
The approach of business strategies and strategic management are somewhat different from each other (Bodily, Nyland & Wiley, 2017). As many new entrants are entering to the competitive market that much level for the competition is also increasing for PEW. Again the offered price of the company is estimated to be higher than the rest of the companies. In order to make these changes strategic management process, mission vision statements, both the external and internal environment analysis and tool techniques are to be incorporated by the business organization.
Strategic business management will help PEW to set strategic business plan along with business opportunities (Cohen-Vogel et al., 2015). It is expected that if these changes are successfully incorporated then with the continuous improvement plan the company will be able to gain successful structure commercial revenue and competitive advantages at the same time.
After assessing the structure and operational program of PEW it has been found that, the key to get success in development of training is referred to as a high qualified training team specialist. With the successful usage of instructional system design approach the technical training development program for this company can be implemented more successfully. For analyzing the training, design, development and delivery of the necessary products to the other telecommunication company’s effective technical training is mandatory (Goetsch & Davis, 2014). The board of range of technical training regarding the products manufacturing by PEW appropriate training, analysis, integration and development should have be considered by the continuous improvement planning team members.
As per the Instructional system design process, the phases that must be followed by Precision Engineering Works Private Limited (PEW) include analysis phase, design phase, development phase, implementation and evaluation phase. Job analysis, task analysis and task analysis for PEW can be successfully achieved. In addition to this, based on the learning objectives the delivery instruction and the evaluation phase are to be prepared.
In addition to this, for technical management another thing that has to be considered by the manufacturing company is security. In order to maintain the service and system confidentiality the security mechanism those are to be incorporated include encryption and application firewall (First, 2016). Encryption technology will prevent the unauthenticated users to access the information stored in the server.
In order to incorporate the mandatory changes or to bring develop continuous improvement plan the 5 steps those are to be followed by PEW include the following:
After analyzing the details of the business environment it has been found that there are different tools and technologies available for continuous improvement (Goetsch & Davis, 2014). For the specific identified issues of PEW, the tools and techniques those are considered include the following:
Kanban: The workflow can be visualized, managed and optimized accordingly
A3: It provides vision and big picture development structure
PDCA improvement cycle: This is the most widely used test hypothesis
Value Stream mapping: This CIP helps the business organization to focus on the process of structuring around the requirement of the consumers.
Six sigma quality management plan is referred to as a business management strategy that is focused on improving the process quality through eventual error minimization. Motorola has implemented the concept of Six Sigma in the year of 1986. In the continuous success of the business organization for measuring both the success and failure, quality plan is important. In order to make sure that the quality of the manufactured products are meeting the objectives and demand of the consumers this specific quality management plan implementation is very much crucial (Albliwi et al., 2014). The overall process and system can even be improved eventually with the application of the Six Sigma Process. The functional errors and operational defects can be identified and resolved also easily with the help of this quality management plan.
Two different Six Sigma methods are available and applicable in the business organization such as DMAIC and DMADV. Among two of these approaches the most suitable approach is the DMAIC method (Jacobs, Swink & Linderman, 2015). The following section elaborates the way through which the sig sigma quality management technique can be incorporated in the PEW to resolve the competition and revenue oriented errors.
In order to implement the six sigma quality management plan the steps that are strictly required to be followed by Precision Engineering Works Private Limited (PEW) are as follows:
Conclusion
From the overall discussion it can be concluded that, in order to bring improvement for the set of activities those are designed and utilized to make gradual improvement both for products and services offered by different business organizations are known as continuous improvement plan. Over past 30 years this manufacturing company is offering services to their consumers. There are many successful telecommunication companies who are the regular clients of this company. The root causes of identified competitive challenges along with competencies that are required to be developed for both the consumers and the employees are also demonstrated in this report. Accurate identification of the resources (Human and physical) and actions will help to accomplish the purpose within the estimated cost and time boundary.
