The company has been able to adapt an organization structure and culture that has been able to suit the needs of the customers. It has adapted an organization structure which starts from Mr. Billson who is the director of the company as his work focuses on the ownership and employeeship of the organization. He provides a good link between the lower employees to the management of the organization. Then it follows the heads of the departments and the employees under each department.
The main focus here is the relationship created between the employees and the management at this level. The chain and line of command is from up to down but in most cases the director and management tries to involve the different employees at different departments in the organization. Managerialism refers to belief by the professional managers on the concepts and methods that they use in their daily businesses. It also refers to the accountability, control and measurement in managing of organizations different from groups or individuals that does not relate or resemble an organization. Management expert Robert Locke views managerialism as an expression of a different group in management through decision making strength. Managerialism has been brought about by resistance by people and employees in society and also resistance towards regimes that are managerial in nature. Managerialism tries to combine the knowledge of management and different ideologies to be able to get established in organizations and societies while denying the employees, owners and civil society the powers of making decisions in the society. Managerialism denies the employees the freedom of getting training and attainment of knowledge in management that is required to efficiently run corporations and organizations in the societies. A society or organization which is managerial does not try to respond to the needs, wants and wishes of its employees but it is influenced by the organization itself (Pick, 2012).
Radanol company managerial style is different as it tries to involve the employees in society through decision making and consultation. Since strict managerialism does not respond to the needs and wishes of the employees but it is only influenced by the organization hence Radanol Company through the director tries to manage the organization in a friendly manner without any friction with the employees. The transactions of the organizations determines how the management responds to various organizations and the needs and desires of the people are only met if the people are members of the organization since managerialism is both a process and ideology. If the organization is making profits or it has a good image through the transactions that it performs then the management of the organization is efficient. This is the case at Radanol since the management knows how to treat the employees through considering their needs and wants. The goal of managerialism is to make sure that the business and companies is furthered and hence the need to institute a good organizational structure and culture as shown by Radanol company (Carvalho, 2012.)
Managerialism is also known as new public management and is normally used in the development of new relationships of different organizations. It also provides a way in which the public services are delivered to the public. With the increase in globalization it has been hard for the professional bureaucratic organization to cope up with the method of management hence the need to implement managerialism in the organizations. Managerialism helps to instill governance structures in the public services through the practice of management as a culture of governance. Governance on the other hand means the organization structure and culture and the relationship between the management and the employees in the organization. The relationship will depend on the strategic management, cost-benefit analysis and lastly efficiency in the organization. Good governance has been experienced in the organization by accounting for every transaction and making sure corruption is reduced by paying the employees of the organization well as compared to other organization. Financial statements are also prepared quarterly for the purposes of audit of the books of accounts hence leading to transparency and good managerialism in the organization( Delbridge2010.)
According to Al Ariss, (2014). There are different theories that can have applied by the company to understand the tension that may arise between a profession and the management in the organization. The different theories involves;
This approach was developed by Taylor and it emphasizes on the planning of work by the management to be able to achieve efficiency, standardization of the work, specialization and lastly simplification. This approach applied by the company has helped increased production because it has helped bring trust between the employees and the management in the organization .In order to increase trust and productivity in the company, the management of Radanol made sure that the advantages that arise from the improvement of productivity goes to the workers, trying to eliminate stress and anxiety in the work place, training and development of capable workers in the organization and lastly to eliminate the concept of the boss who is authoritarian in the organization to minimize strict managerialism. This theory has helped build the relationship between the management and the employees (Taylor, 2012).
In addition, different principles that are used by the company to improve productivity and the manager-professional relationship involves; the traditional rule of thumb should be reduced in each person’s work, the organization employees should also be selected based on training and development that the employees have received. There should also be cooperation in terms of labor and management as opposed to conflict management in the organization. Radanol tries to involve all the employees in the management and cooperation in the organization. Lastly the training of workers by experts using different scientific methods.
The approach was developed by Weber and its principles that are applied by Radanol company involve the organization of structure of the company to be arranged in an hierarchy with a set up authority and responsibility that suits the needs of the employees in the organization. Specialization of tasks which involves arranging tasks in accordance with the functional basis and specialization. The impartiality of the selection and recruitment of the employees, the organization also tries to operate in accordance to the set up rules and regulations of the company. Lastly responsibility and authority is only exercised by the management and no other people in the organization.
This is another theory that would be exercised or needs to be exercised by the company to reduce the conflict that may arise between the employees and the management in the organization which constitute the principles of management, commitment and functions of management in an organization. The principles that need to be applied involve; division of work and specialization which helps to increase productivity in both the managerial and technical work. The use of authority and responsibility for the employee to be able to achieve his work and the organization objectives. Taking orders from only the supervisor or person in charge, unity of direction in which the organization including employees and management work in the fulfillment of the organization goals and objectives.
Other principles would involve the subordination of individual interests to suit the general interests in the organization, the remuneration of personnel which involves on factors like time, job bonuses and profit sharing in which each employee is rewarded well according to the job that they perform in the organization. Decision making and authority should be centralized to one destination. In addition, the organization has to put in order everything and everyone who ought to be engaged in the organization. There should also be fairness, justice and equity in the organization. In the theory, it also emphasizes the stability of tenure in which the employees are guaranteed of their jobs in terms of their performance in the organization by getting time to do their work well in the organization. The employees should also be encouraged and stimulated in the organization to improve their performance.
Committees are part of the organization in which members are of different levels in organization and different departments are able to form committees which a similar goal. The groups can have different goals, functions like managerial, decision making, and policy formulation. The different committees help in the evaluation of staff and allocation of resources in the organization. The company can also incorporate the management functions like training, organizing and coordinating the works if the employees in the organization.
This is the last theory which can be adapted involves the theorists of Neoclassical which recognized the importance of group behavior. It also concentrated on human and social relations among the supervisors and employees in the organizations. It argued that there are considerations that are more important in determination of productivity than the changes in working conditions. The theory helps in determination of productivity through the improvement of morale of the employees and attention to the employees.
This approach pressed the contribution of formal organizations. In contrast, the neoclassical approach helped in the incorporation of an informal organization structure and highlighted the following: that a person should be viewed as a social human being who is able to fulfill the economic and security works which differ from one employee to another in the organization. An individual should only be recognized through the process of interacting with the economic and social factors.
The neoclassical approach emphasized about the community divisions of work groups in the informal organizations and how they operate. The synergies brought about by group are important for the organization to improve its relationship with the management of the organization. Lastly it allowed for decision-making which permits workers to participate in the decision-making process of the organization. This ensures increase in productivity within the organization.
There are different ethical tensions that one may face working for the company. Tension comes when the employees or the members in the organization are competing for the limited resources in the organization. One of the ethical tension will be the conflict of interest among the management and the employees. The management would want certain resources that will benefit themselves and hence the employee will be obliged to give them since he may lose his job. This brings a tension in the organization. Corruption is another ethical tension that can be brought about by greed for power and more resources in the organization. The employees are try to avoid any situation that will lead to corruption. Other ethical tensions can come up due to gossiping, poor governance, racism and nepotism in the organization. The organization can grow with good ethical standards which are adhered to.
There are different forms of leadership that needs to be implemented by the management to help in the management of the organization as a whole (Hargreaves,2012.) The company needs to create the vision that is inspiring to the employees through the establishment of shared values and a focus of direction and goals. Another way is the management of change by taking any risks to create change in the organization and resistance to change should be minimized. The leaders should also try to lead by example by being able to share risks and hardships. Trying to demonstrate confidence and trust within the organization and lastly being enthusiastic and try to inspire the people in the organization by creating a positive working environment.
One of the leadership qualities that need to be embraced in the organization is stimulation of the intellect that leads to transformational leadership. A good leader should encourage the employees to express their creativity by offering new challenges and more support for the organization to achieve its goals and objectives. The group members need to be challenged to foster creativity by helping the members to go beyond their limits by not being discouraged by any barriers to success (Northouse,2012).
As a leader in any organization one needs to be a good role model to the employees and to other stakeholders in the organization. This role model can be attributed to influence through transformative leadership. To be a great leader should express good behaviors and characteristics to be able to encourage their followers. The leaders try to take appropriate action and the other members or employees will emulate the leader because of his attitude and behavior. This will lead to good management of the organization and making of great decisions that will have an influence on the productivity of the organization (Teelken, 2012).
Transformative leadership in any given organization will entail a focus that will help provide effective communication with the members of the group. The leaders should show concern and attention to the different members or employees both non-verbally and non-verbally. Another important way of leadership will involve a focus on providing efficient communication with the members. The communications can be kept open and this will ensure that the members and employees feel recognized and they feel that they have made contributions for the achievement of the organization. In addition transformative leaders through proper leadership should try to provide inspirational motivation to be able to encourage the different followers of the leaders in the management of organization to take action and achieve his objectives. Leaders in leadership? motivation involves being passionate around different thoughts or goals in the society and organization that will help other employees and public to feel that they have been included in the process, recognized and rewarded for their accomplishments.
According to Wood, ( 2010) offering effective recognition to employees is important way of showing good leadership in the organization and rewarding the employees for the work that they perform in the organization to motivate them. As a leader, you need to accept corrections from the feedback received from the employees or other stakeholders in the organization. A leader should also find ways to be able to motivate and reward hardworking employees in the organization.
Offering effective recognition and rewards is another quality of a good leader in an organization and the employees feel appreciated and very happy. Employees are able to work harder and perform well in the organization through increased productivity by rewarding the greater efforts and removing any barriers that may not lead to success. Lastly as a leader it is important to develop leadership qualities that would help you get motivation from the followers to continue with your work. As a leader, you will need to concentrate on future activities that inspire you and the employees to perform well in the organization.
