1.The title of the article is “Role of Social Support in Breastfeeding for Adolescent Mothers”.
The authors of this article are Restu A. Palupi and Shrimarti R. Devy.
The year of publication is 2018.
The title of the journal is “KnE Life Sciences”.
The digital object identifier is 10.18502/KLS.V4I4.2281.
2.The four reasons are:-
The study topic deals with the social support in breastfeeding of adolescent mothers which is a complicated issue in Indonesia and it needs to be analysed by studying the interactions, moral and social supports received by the adolescent mothers for this purpose. Therefore, there is no scope for the researcher to explore the outcomes of numeric calculations. Rather, the study proceeds through the analysis of the sources of the social supports (Palupi and Devy, 2018).
There were only seven participants (women) involved in the study who were less than 20 years older having a baby of 6-12 months old, residents of Sidotopo, and previously or presently breastfed a baby. It shows that the targeted participants were smaller. This is a possible reason for the study to be qualitative in nature.
The data collected from the in-depth interviews are non-numeric and collected through audio and visual output. It represents that the study is qualitative.
The analysis of the data was interpretive and subjective. It required the researcher to make the participants realized the resolution of the problems. Thus, the nature of the study is qualitative (Palupi and Devy 2018).
3.The quantitative research hypotheses-
H0: There is no relationship between the social support and adolescent mothers’ encouragement in breastfeeding their babies
Against
H1: The social support has positive effect in encouraging adolescent mothers to breastfeed their babies.
The task is based on an existing research journal which is cited in the question paper. Moreover, the requirement is to build a quantitative research hypothesis from that journal. Building quantitative research hypothesis is an essential criteria for a deductive research approach. In addition to this, the research hypothesis that are designed, are capable to explain a relationship between the variables and the concepts and also capable to build a structural equation model which is an advantage for deductive approach. Thus, considering a quantitative research hypothesis leads the research into deductive research approach (Bryman 2016).
A qualitative research question is as follows-
Will the social support be beneficial to improve the breastfeeding behaviors of the adolescent mothers in Sidotopo, Indonesia?
The first step to build an inductive research approach is to construct qualitative research question. The research question aims to explore new phenomenon on the research topic. Again, the research question design in 3(iii) is grounded on the basic theory of the research. Therefore, considering the qualitative research question will take the research towards inductive research approach (Bryman 2016).
4.The quantitative research hypothesis is selected here.

The article aims to explore the maternal attitude and personality required for breastfeeding initiation. A cross-sectional survey had been conducted in the year 2009 on 602 mothers having six to twelve months old baby. The result had shown that mothers having high levels of emotional stability, sociability, and carefulness were more interested to initiate breastfeeding. On the other hand, mothers suffering from anxiety and unsociability need external support for breastfeeding. Therefore, the mothers having negative attitude need potential social support during their critical time of breastfeeding (Brown 2018).
5.This response belongs to “perception of problematic drinking”(Khadjesari et al. 2018).
This response belongs to “life stage” category.
This response belongs to “Reaction to screening and advice on drinking” category.
This response can be categorized under “ lifestyle” category (Khadjesari et al.2018).
6.i. Two journals:
a. The name of the journal is “Developing a social practice-based typology of British drinking culture in 2009–2011: implications for alcohol policy analysis”. The database is JohnWiley & Sons Ltd.
The search term is- “primary care patients’ views on drinking and its consequences”.
b. Name of the journal- “Improvements in readiness to change and drinking in primary care patients with unhealthy alcohol use: a prospective study. BMC public health”.
The database is https://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2458/9/101. The search term is- “primary care patients’ views on drinking”.
ii. Abstract of the article (a)-
This article describes the worth of the social practices of the drinking culture in Britain by designing a cross-sectional latent class analysis on the drinking diaries. It also describes the consequences of heavy drinking in a social occasion, drinking alone at home and drinking with family. An empirical drinking culture model is built along with the configuration of drinking practices (Ally et al. 2016).
Abstract of the article (b)-
The study aims to measure the action taken in readiness and increase in the confidence for a primary patients regarding the harmful use of alcohol. It includes quantitative data analysis and evaluation of the outcomes. The readiness, confidence, and importance are scored on a 10 point rating scale. After six months of observation, the result shows that the post primary visit has provided improvements for readiness, confidence, and importance (Bertholet, Horton and Saitz 2009).
iii. The second journal article provides the most effective evidence. It provides a quantitative study with numerical outcomes which is more acceptable in case of the improvements achieved after a primary visit regarding drinking purpose. There has been clear indication of the prevention of falls for the aged people in the latter article. However, the former journal article talks about the enhancement in the drinking culture and revision of the practices required in the social aspect for drinking.
