Robotics — design, construction, and use of machines (robots) to perform tasks done traditionally by human beings. Function/Importance ( 1 mark) In this technology there are 2 main functions. In the construction industry and medical industry.
Construction: widely used in such industries to perform simple repetitive tasks, and in industries where work must be performed in environments hazardous to humans. OR Medical: robot-assisted surgery gives the surgeon better control over the instruments and a better view, because of this, surgeons don’t have to stand all of the time during the surgery and do not get tired as quickly.
Importance in the future(2 marks) For construction In the future: Construction is an inherently dangerous job.
Robots can improve worker safety in construction environments by taking over some of the more dangerous tasks and allowing human workers to complete more cognitive tasks. help eliminate a lot of the stress and damage that occurs to a body during physical labor too. 3D-printing robots, will change the current makeup and are able to do on-demand and custom development projects. Being able to print prefabricated parts or components on site helps eliminate the need to transport large goods or materials.
Medical field: Robotic surgery is deemed by and large safer than open surgery.
