I am so grateful for granting me this opportunity to pen down statement of purpose (SOP) for pursuing Post-Graduate Certificate in Project Management at Sault College, 443 Northern Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie ON CANADA. Now, I introduce myself as a dynamic, energetic, outgoing and hardworking proud Nepali, Er. Ramesh Tamang, born on October 21, 1995 A.D from a rural village called Saungaun which belongs to Bidur municipality of Ward-07 of Nuwakot district, Nepal.
My forefathers were, mainly, recruited in Gorkhali Army (Nepali, Indian and British) or they worked as a porter and farmer.
I have resided with elder sister in Kathmandu, the cosmopolitan capital city of Nepal, for the sake of completing my Bachelor degree. We have three-half-storey concrete building with good accommodation facilities in Kathmandu whereby first and second floors are rented as per agreement paper at NRs.25, 000.00 per month respectively. The economic circumstance has been strong enough to bring up us in pleasant atmosphere of fulfilling basic needs.
My mother (Chhening Tamang), along with younger sister(Anju Maya Tamang) living in hometown, has engaged in agriculture occupation since we have plenty of arable lands yielding variety of crops and vegetables, whereas father (Birman Tamang), a retired Nepal army, has been employing as security guard in Dubai for about 12 years earning around NRs. 2,400,000.00 per annum and elder sister (Surya Maya Tamang) is currently employing as Marketing Manager in Sumargi Saving and Credit Ltd. of monthly remuneration NRs. 35,000.00.
My hardworking, along with strong determination and perseveration, instigated an admirable result in School Leaving Certificate (S.
L.C) by scoring distinction (85%) in 2011 A.D. After that on in entrance account of my excellent performance exam followed by aptitude test and interview, I was selected as an energetic and bona fide candidate in army quota providing hostel facilities of NRs.1, 500.00 per month to enroll in army School, named as Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur which is a cultural melting pot of students from every nook and cranny of Nepal. Although I only scored 70% (First Division) in +2 levels, I experienced myself to be more amiable, generous, patriotic, self-confident, and self-reliant for staying in hostel in two years (2012-2013 A.D). The substantial things I had assimilated were inter-personnel skills such as team-based working with friends through collaboration and co-ordination. Having successfully completed Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) in 2013 A.D, I got admitted for 4 year Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering (2013-2017 A.D) at Advanced College of Engineering and Management, Kupondole, Lalitpur which is one of the reputed colleges in Kathmandu that is affiliated to Tribhuvan University (T.U). I was granted semesterwise scholarship four times due to my excellent academic performances (74.45% in average) and extensive active participation in extracurricular activities (blood donation, farewell, sports etc.).
One reason for this is that Canada has the best education systems in the worlds due to wide range of flexible degrees/certificates, a globally respected qualification, highly expert and dedicated teachers, sterling career opportunities and networks, and modern facilities. Secondly, although US, Australia, New Zealand and UK provides a quality education with globally recognized degree, I make scheme to study Canada owing to lower crime rates and cost of living than its educational rivals. At present period in Nepal, there is a trend of going in France, Germany, Japan and Denmark for abroad education because of lower living costs, but I have not diverted my mind in those countries because I heard about compulsion of the local language for my education there. It should also be stated that the government mitigates rules for international students. They can now work on and off campus while studying and secure three-year visas afterwards, all of which counts toward eventual permanent residency-making Canadian academia more international than it has ever been. In conclusion, I choose Canada as final destination for my abroad study due to its friendlier and inspiring environment; and quality education for international students, apart from maintaining security and stability.

Not only it manages to provide standard computer labs and resource centre where students can access all required materials such as eBooks, e-journals, databases, referencing and plagiarism guides and more, but also it is within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, fitness center, shopping, parks and the State library, putting everything within easy reach. And it celebrates diversity, equity, inclusion and respect. I experience different cultures from different international students, create social circle to exchange ideas and make lifelong friends or even part of global network of business contacts. Alumni Relation Department strives to create new bonding while tightening old ones. Sault College International provides support and service to international applicants, current students and international partners. They also create opportunities for employees and students and support program service-learning initiative. It has been ranked in top 2 in overall student satisfaction in Ontario and there is no bound of happiness to have the certificate from such college.

The project management training is, substantially, demanding in different sectors. I had already studied elementary project management course in bachelor level which has been based on theoretical (80% written exam and 20% Multiple Choice Question) that has helped me to apprehend problems quickly and contemplate out-of-box unique solutions. I, also, gained some work experiences for one year as Program Manager in institution, Nepal Tamang Society, Basundhara, Nepal. Consequently, it would be easier for me to complete the advanced program within constrained time because I am already accustomed to course overview, prerequisite fundamental knowledge and Microsoft Project Management Software tool. The Certificate will surely supplement me to enhance my theoretical and practical horizons on project management to next professional level. If I apply for job as IT manager in Nepal, the certificate, surely, heightens my value in resume which assures me to get high-paid remunerative jobs in reputed companies after returning to home country.

I, with my colleagues, completed two group projects successfully in bachelor level as I was designated as Team Leader. Initially, we have made web application on ‘Hospital Management System’ as a minor project in third year. And secondly, in final year, we have done major project on ‘Stock Market Analysis and Prediction’ using Machine Leaning in Python and Text Mining in Data Analytics tool. I had also attended full- time classes on project management course that made me acquainted to project management knowledge. Following that academic year, I utilized one year gap in productive demeanor. Firstly, I uplifted my talents, self-confident, skills, experience and knowledge in IT by doing self- study and researches from different sources such as Internet, e-books, library, YouTube etc. in different applications such as Multimedia, Web application, Networking, Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Programming. After that I worked as volunteer in ABC Club in four month for xxx purpose. Meanwhile, I did sightseeing of different monumental landmarks in Nepal I have never visited before such as Multipath Temple, Manang and Mustang, Lumbini, Janakpur, Ilam etc. to get absorbed with its importance and values. Furthermore, I worked six months as Program Manager in non-profit Institution, Nepal Tamang Society. During the tenure, I managed different awareness, entertaining, humanitarian and educational programs. It was established in 2017 A.D for the welfare of downtrodden ethical group (Tamang).
Firstly, I have an ambition to be IT entrepreneur in Nepal that the Post Graduate Certificate, definitely, boosts and fosters me to institutionalize highly lucrative IT Company that would create user friendly software, animation, web pages and web applications. Secondly, there are few IT institutions which, mainly, concentrate on practical and job oriented trainings, but they are highly available in Kathmandu valley only. Nevertheless, its fee is too exorbitant for ordinary people to pay; therefore, I have made long term vision to establish such institutes outside the valley in collaboration with my college’s colleagues. It will emphasize upon enthusiastic and energetic students as well as ones who are drop-out from school or college due to financial and social problems to provide cost effective quality training programs and packages. And finally, I am the first person in the village who is an engineer having high self-esteem and moderate economic status; so, people have made great expectation from me hoping that I will do some remarkable contributions that enrich their social, economic and political circumstances. Moreover, I am proud to be a part of this society and nation where people have deep compassion and sympathy. My resolute feeling of patriotism, high-respect from people of my village, deeply absorbed attachment to Motherland and unfathomable affections toward family, relatives and society, certainly, entice me to return back. Then, I will do maximum utilization of the experiences, knowledge and skills acquired from the college for the prosperity of my country. I see my bright career and future in Nepal after my post grad certificate in Sault College. So, I will not be extending my stay in Canada more than the mandated time period.

Employers value real world experience very highly, so i will have a head start over the competition for my dream job. The scope of project management is increasing in many sectors of the economy all around the world, especially strong demand in developing countries such as Nepal and India. So, In Nepal, I can apply for highly remunerative job in different sectors like bank, Education, IT and so on of about monthly NRs.100,000.00 for the below mentioned designations. Construction supervisors, engineers, administrators, non-profit and government agencies all require expertise in project management. As I am Computer Engineer with sound knowledge and skills in IT, there is, prospectively, opportunity for me to be recruited as an IT Project Manager in National and international IT companies seeing the certificate obtained from Sault College plus work experiences. I will have also developed organizational capacity to setup IT business in Nepal.
