Teaching and learning are important processes associated together at values, traditions, skills, behaviors and the acquisition of knowledge. In this task we will discuss the difference between the learning and teaching and their importance, research in literature review for more information and discussion, and some activities that are used to operate the classroom efficiently.
Some people believe that teaching and learning are the same, but there is a difference in meaning between these two words.
teaching is given a lesson often in school, while learning is the student’s acquisition of information from multiple sources to broaden his understanding. In short, teaching is the transmission of knowledge while learning is the acquisition of knowledge. This is the difference between the two words (Koshal, 2011).
Learning is defined as the knowledge gained through the study. This does not necessarily mean obtaining information, but it may also have skills, behaviors and values acquired.
However, teaching can be defined as an action to give lessons about a material to students, which aims at teaching the student how to do something. Within the school, the teacher teaches the student various things based on the curriculum. The importance of teaching and learning are various which, building minds, and through teaching the teacher helps students to provide high knowledge and build the future of many students, benefit from the experiences of others through classroom discussion, and develop personality through research and exploration.
Holding a reflective discussion among group members on the explanation of the process of teaching & learning and differentiating between them
Some may think that there is no difference between learning and teaching.
Because in the end they acquire knowledge and information, but the acquisition of knowledge differs through learning and teaching. Learning means gaining personal knowledge such as reading books, surfing the internet, articles, and more. The student here wants to learn more about the subject, and he will research the subject in a deeper way to gain his experience. As for teaching, it is the transfer of knowledge and often from the teacher. The teacher gives the students information either from the curriculum or from the presentation. Knowledge in teaching is limited, meaning that the teacher teaches students what is in the curriculum, while in learning the student expands his understanding of what he has study at school through more research to gain a broader and deep knowledge. For example, the teacher teaches students about plastic where it made, why we make plastic, and the importance of plastic. While in the learning, the student read topics about the history of plastic and how it is manufactured and damaged, which increases his knowledge of his interests.
For explaining the statement on effective teachers, students with special educational needs simply require good teaching with strategies that to helping students to become more effective and efficient learners, effective teachers should already have skills and qualifications before beginning to teach.
Effective teachers set priorities, Planning for instruction, Customize time, and put establish high expectations for student achievement and behavior, develop clear goals for student learning and link classroom activities to them; make the most of instructional time through smooth transitions and limited disruptions; and create situations that help students to succeed and feel safe in taking academic risks. It has focused on quantitative measures of teacher behavior that correlate to student achievement of basic skills by the effective teaching based on recent studies focusing on the qualitative dimensions of teacher behavior associated with the development of higher-order thinking and problem-solving abilities. Students with low prior achievement need a good deal of instructional support and stimulation when a demonstration prompt practice format and sufficient practice are provided (Stevens & Rosenshine, 1981).
Being an effective teacher requires many tools, which you mostly choose through Experience and error. Effective teaching strategies include like, use a multiple-scenario approach to develop lesson plans. -Monitor and verify student responses to lessons. -Evaluate and adapt lessons as necessary.
Effectiveness is best estimated in relation to your own goals of teaching. The importance of effective instruction on student academic has been well documented. Effective teachers know how to and create and deal with an effective learning environment. They have been organized, prepared and clear for the classroom environment thought to positively impact the effects of instruction as measured by student outcomes are strong classroom management and an increase in the number of student opportunities to respond. The Effective teachers will monitor their implementation of targeted class wide strategies and student outcomes then collecting data on their own teaching behaviors helped them improve their skills, they motivate their students and have little difficulty managing classrooms and they are more flexible and reflective in meeting students’ needs, facilitating students, and social and academic growth.
Discussing & explaining activities needed to operate classes efficiently such as the physical arrangement of the classroom, students grouping, instructional planning and selecting and adapting curricular materials. When it comes to involve all students, you will realize the student learning in different ways and different theory. Some student has their own way so will find himself to understand lessons find that others work better when engaged in group work. If this is the case, differential education and evaluation, also known as differential education, is the necessary framework for reaching students through different learning styles.
The first is to create an educational environment. that will change the physical design of the classroom. Organize your bedroom in flexible workstations. This will require you to move furniture to support individual and group work. For example, you can create a teacher-led teaching table. As I see for the educational environment, the student-centered classroom should focus on each student’s needs, interests, abilities, and learning styles. First the teacher should already know how to plan teaching strategies and activities are important that match special students’ developmental needs and characteristics, like Changing the amount of lighting or brightening or dimming lights can help students with disabilities for who is having autism or a visual impairment. Understanding and controlling the classroom environment will help them become successful learners and be active participants in classroom activities. And teaching and learning spaces are important for like students with mobility aids and for who need more physical space between them and their peers to support different activities and to address different student needs.
Tailor assignments based on students’ learning goals. Using differentiation strategies can help you change the final product that students offer to their teachers. Some students are literate learners, while others may be learners or visual readers. You can offer students different ways to understand the lesson using materials that make it easy to understand the lesson. For example, some visual learners may want to create a poster to show their understanding, while readers may prefer to write and go only in their own library, and others may want audio learners to make an oral presentation using video.
Diversification of assignments based on the differences of students is great. Each student can learn in the way he wants, which can accomplish many easily and accurately, for example, visual student who can accomplish through the creation of posters and pictures. Unlike the audio student who prefers to listen and make oral presentations. So, every student will feel free to choose, it may be difficult to control the classroom because the students have different activities and the teacher can not organize the students. But we see as a group if the teacher divided the class to visual, audio, and readers groups so the teacher can communicate between all groups flexibly and students will be able to work with each other without any clutter. Furthermore, the teacher will summarize the curriculum in papers or activities, and this may reduce the pressure of the curriculum on students. But on the other hand, some teachers for example may choose easy math issues, so that they do not take more time to explain issues or prepare for long questions. Also, these tasks may not give enough information to students.
Adjust lesson content based on students’ needs. The most appropriate way to distinguish the learning process is to change the type of content you use in your lessons. During a lecture discussing you may see that some students are not paying attention or are completely lost. Switch content using computer software, sound recordings or videos, or even make them interactive by urging students to represent the viewer from the play (Richard, 2002). The student uses the correct content and supports the teaching methods. For example, it is useful for the student to get the attention of the student or his classroom, which makes the student move and participate, this helps the student to understand and respond.
In conclusion, we discussed in this research the difference between teaching and learning and their importance, and we research and discuss literature, and monitored some of the activities that are used to make the separation more efficient. We hope that everyone will benefit from this research and begin to differentiate between learning and teaching. Encourage students to acquire knowledge from diverse sources and not just rely on the curriculum, and for teachers to distinguish class activities will greatly help increase student activity and not be bored at school.
