At this attraction, guests will be able to experience the Grand Lighting Ceremony, and there are free dreidels and menorah kits, hot latkes and donuts, and a performance from the U.S. Marine Bands “The President’s Own” and “The Three Cantors”. All are welcome to this ceremony, and the lighting of the menorah is the largest in the world, since thousands of people go each year, including TV broadcasters.
The National Menorah is across from the White House in Washington D.C. If you are in Washington D.C. on December 22, the National Chanukah on the Ellipse Menorah is a great place to go and celebrate the winter holidays.
Lastly, the Festival of Kwanzaa is an event that celebrates Kwanzaa in Irvine, California. Each day, a candle will be lit at the Pretend City Children’s Museum and there will also be other activities at this event. The dates are December 26-January 1 and the hours are 10-5. The price of admission is included with the museum admission. In addition, the seven core principles (Nguzo Saba) will be celebrated: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith) will be honored. If you are in Irvine California from December 26-January 1, the Festival of Kwanzaa is a great place to go learn and celebrate the holiday Kwanzaa.
