It’s funny to see that you haven’t changed since I met you about a year ago, Doc. But it’s also comforting, which I suppose you would know since you have studied psychology. Or it could be coincidental, in which case would be complimenting you. You’re welcome.

Since I’m in a good mood today, I’ll answer everything I could remember. So, Maya and I are doing great. She still asks every five minutes if I am seeing any visions or hearing anything imaginary, which is annoying, yes, but I have gotten used to it.

On Monday, she helped me watch my newborn sister while my parents were out. “How do you think she’s going to be like?” Maya asked, “Spontaneous, like you? Or stubborn? Ooh, what if she turns out to be just like Rebecca!”

“I’m not sure how that would be great,” I replied to her. “All Rebecca has done for months is breakdown wherever she could. Not the best role model if you ask me.

” Maya is still getting a kick out of Rebecca. Ever since she pointed out that the hallucination of a girl is my subconscious, she can’t stop talking about her. Although I do admit that she has a point, I just think she’s trying to diagnose me. She must get it from her mother.

“Well, you have to look on the bright side! Wasn’t Rebecca cheerful before you started taking ToZaPrex? That’s what you told me,” Maya smirked, thinking she won.

“You used the present tense.

You should’ve used different wording if you were talking about Rebecca before the drug.”

“Shut up.”

Today I was also thinking about how perfect of a mother Maya would be. Don’t get me wrong, I recall saying that I do not consider myself having children, but damn, Maya sure does know how to work with them. I suppose she knows from caring for her younger brothers. I think I’ll ask her how I could be a normal brother, or as close to normal that I can be, considering my illness.

Speaking of my sister, you forgot to mention her at all today; what kind of shrink are you? Forgetting about something, what a shame. Sabrina looks like any other baby, so there’s no need for you to ask me next week. However, you could now notice how she has my mom’s delicate facial features, but Paul’s brown eyes. I sound like I’m describing an inverted version of Harry Potter.

Obviously, school is out during the summer, so my life has been a whole lot more boring. Maya and I have been spending time together though, and we usually have dates twice a week. By that, I mean going out and purposefully doing something romantic. We hang practically every day, so I felt the need to clarify that.

And no, we have not done anything sexual either. I know how perverted you are, Doc.

~ July 10, 2013 ~

Last week was the 4th of July, and the reason that I didn’t bring it up was because there was really nothing to talk about. During these last few years, Paul and my mother have just stayed home and relaxed. Usually, we buy a few fireworks, but we always thought that we could just spectate everyone else’s explosions, since 1) we’re poor, and 2) everyone else has a different variety of fireworks, so it’s nice to see what type of explosion everyone else chooses, if you get what I mean.

Anyways, this year we didn’t celebrate at all, because of my sister. She wasn’t scared of the big explosions in the sky, but some of the thunderous booms made her flinch. And not trying to sound selfish or anything, but you could say she gets it from me.

You asked how I have been feeling since I no longer take the miracle drug. It really did help me to determine when most things are real or fake, and I’m more self-aware of that now, so I suppose it did help out in the end. The hallucinations still happen like they always have, and I’m guessing that you know that the doctors have decided not to put me on anything, at least not now, with the incident still being fairly recent.

Continuing off of that, none of my visions seem to be overly violent anymore. The mobsters mostly just linger around now, and even though they occasionally shout, my brain just registers it as background noise. Even the imaginary sounds that I hear don’t bother me. Actually, they’ve been especially helpful for helping me fall asleep, as they happen to hum lullabies to me.

On Monday, I took Maya out to eat at some French restaurant near my place, and Maya seemed stoked when I told her where we were going. It turns out, she has a cousin who works there, his name is Clay. Along with his name being unique, he’s an overall cool dude. He told me that he had known Maya ever since they were kids, and they grew up together.

“No way bro,” I told him as he said how they would play together when they were young. I glance towards Maya, and when I see her distracted by the menu, I say to Clay, “Do you know anything I could do for her? Y’know, since I’m her boyfriend, I feel like I should do something for her, just out of the blue.”

“Of course!” Clay flashes me a smile with his perfect teeth, “Maya loves looking at stars, if you have any cash, maybe you could get her like a telescope or somethin’. She’s kinda picky though, so watch yourself, little bro.” I thanked him, and after decided on her dish, Maya told him her order, and I followed. Thankfully, no visions scared me while we were there, although I did see out of the corner of my eye a blue elephant with clown makeup on, and it would make a random noise every few minutes. Maya thought it was hilarious when I told her.

Later that night, I went searching for a telescope online, and it happens to be that Walmart sold one for about 50 bucks.

So early yesterday morning, I went to the store and bought one that comes with all the parts, and you build it after you purchase it. It’s a simple process to buy something from a store, so I don’t feel like I need to explain it. I immediately started crafting it together once I got home. Later at around 7 pm-ish, I invited Maya to my place, and her jaw dropped as soon as she saw it in my backyard. She then kissed me and did stuff girls do when they’re excited; i.e. when they shriek, get super high-pitched voices, and you could see their eyes sparkle. I must say that the last one of those three is actually kind of cute, only because high-pitched noises are obnoxious, don’t you agree?

Anyways, she used it and made me look at every star she saw through the telescope, and I feel like an accomplished boyfriend. I should do more things for her more often.

I should also say because I have not mentioned it yet and I doubt you remember him, Dwight came by my house today. He plugged in his Wii and we played some more tennis. Honestly, if I want to be anyone in this world, I think I would like to be Dwight. He’s such a good friend and so open-minded, and it’s nice to have someone else (other than Maya, of course) who wants to spend their own valuable time with you.

Jesus, I sound so sensitive right now. I’m not. By the way, you know that fedora that you have started wearing during our sessions? Take it off, you look like a clown. I’m just trying to save you from getting judged.
