The aim of this paper is to discuss the personality and knowledge development process of an individual person which helps him to identify the personal strengths and weaknesses. For the personal growth of a person, personal development gets first priority which guides him to gain knowledge about the surroundings that teach them the most. There are different tools and process which the persons follow to grow professionally. In every aspect of professions there are some common requirements that make the persons perfectly fit for meeting all the needs of the profession. In this report, the process of self-analysis will be done in two parts like personal development and knowledge development. These two divisions of self-analysis will be revealing different tools needed for the perfect understating of the demand of the job and guide the person to grow efficiency in the design thinking process.
This is one of the most essential parts of the self-development that I need to have as a design thinker in the organization. This connects the persons to be more efficient in terms of gaining knowledge about the effectiveness as well as the limitations. By knowing oneself, one can assess all the aspects and get a dynamic view of the capabilities of the persons (Snyder, Ingelsson & Bäckström, 2018). Through this process I can get the opportunity to get motivated for driving self-evaluation, self-verification and thus the self enhancement. Self-analysis can be discussed under two aspects personal and knowledge development.
Visualisation:
Visualisation is the capability to create a mental image in my mind and sound, smell, taste and other sensations. In this regard, I am capable to use imagination skills to visualise and create vision of the goals to achieve those. This is one of the most creative skills of all that are really very useful the design thinkers like me. This can help me to overcome many complicated situations in life by being creative in every condition (Lake, Ricco & Whipps, 2018). For the person like me who is going to choose the path of management in the near future must have this skill because this will help me in manifesting any goal. As mentioned in the week 4 blog, the problem solving approach need proper understanding of the problems and persons involved in it along with which the visualisation process is mandatory for the personal development (Boisvenue-Fox & Meyer, 2019).
The tool like visualisation is a core component of the ways which helps us to communicate whether we are aware of the situation or not. When I am dealing with the very complicates issues I enact a different types of problems solving process mainly the visualisation tool to bring more than only logic (Lake, Ricco & Whipps, 2018). This type of tool has helped me to unlock different parts of the brain and this allows me to think in a nonverbal way as well as get the access different parts of the brain so that the design thinking process gets easier. Most of the design thinkers think that the process or tool of visualisation is the main component of creativity that helps persons to find the ways of design thinking. This tool is used in every part of the design thinking process. As mentioned before, the tool of visualisation involves listening, drawing and thinking (Lake, Ricco & Whipps, 2018). Listening is the process of input. Thinking is the process and the drawing is the output of the final products. These three capabilities work together equally for understating the complexity, visualise results in the creation of the new possibilities.
Through the learning of visualisation tool, I have developed my ability to listen, think and draw the final decision effectively (Wrigley & Straker, 2017). This has revealed my strength of thinking a common factor is a different way. The strengths of seeing one particular fact from different points of view. This particular tool of visualisation has also revealed that I am a creative thinker and tend to find the answer of the most complicated situation in a creative mean (Elsbach & Stigliani, 2018). The weaknesses in me is also identified with this particular tool where I have come to understand that I cannot share this visualisation process to the others, his means that despite I am capable to think creative by myself but I cannot share the same with the others. The design thinking theory has effectively mandated the visualisation tool and I have learn an in depth knowledge about the weakness of not being able to share personal thoughts effectively to the others (Elsbach & Stigliani, 2018). This will help me ion the future to find help through trainings to overcome this weakness in me.
We design tinkers are mainly the story tellers by trade therefore, in our profession; presentation skill takes a huge place to cover. This particular tool is however highly effective to showcase our designs. We are highly trained to pitch and able to create a cohesive as well as visually compelling tales about the products. This therefore helps us to help the stakeholders to understand the importance and utilisation of the products and service designed by us. The learning process through this tool has motivated me to let the design thinking manipulating me in solving any type of issues in the regular life (Geissdoerfer, Bocken & Hultink, 2016). I have aimed to shift from maker to the manager therefore, my focus is now on the building y capabilities stronger (Marques & Dhiman, 2018). I have learnt to apply design thinking process to present the drawings and fostering a creative culture.
By using presentation learning process, I have learnt to research my topic like the designers and explain them effectively to the stakeholders. I have the strengths to keep the storyline in the mind and keep those relatable for the audience. I have the capacity to lead my passion to lead the way. In every case, I have presented by imagination to solve any game and found different results every time (Geissdoerfer, Bocken & Hultink, 2016). The weakness that have been found through this tool is again the communication process. I have the capability to present myself and the designs of mine effectively but I cannot communicate what I think and have understood from the presentation. The weaknesses in me is also identified with this particular tool where I cannot practice this presentation skills for long for this needs huge confidence that I lack for public speaking (Geissdoerfer, Bocken & Hultink, 2016).
Innovation:
Design thinking process is not possible without maintaining connection with the innovation. Many entrepreneurs believe that without innovation mindset, no person feels the need for design thinking (Yeager et al., 2016). This is related to the process of believing the importance of new ideas, creative thoughts, and imagination in the form of device. Innovation tool is often seen as the most essential process of applying netter solution for meeting new requirements, existing market requirements and unarticulated needs. This tool has enabled me to gain knowledge about processes, products, services, business models and technologies which are made available to markets, society and governments (Yeager et al., 2016). As innovation is somehow related to the invention process, therefore, design thinking gets a huge role to play. I have used this particular tool to understand the market and its needs because I cannot design until and unless I do not realise the demands of the customers and what they exactly want (Snyder, Ingelsson & Bäckström, 2018). This tool helps me to learn the scope for growth both individually as well as in the team framework.
By using this process I have pointed out that I have the strength to analyse the demands of the market as well as the projects. By understating these needs I can develop proper steps to innovate new path for solving the issues (Carlgren, Rauth & Elmquist, 2016). The design thinking process is related to innovation of the methods where feasibility, desirability and viability of the products or services designed are gained. I have also pointed out the strengths of critical thinking that relates to the brain storming that directly connects me to think out of the box. This gives me an extra leverage to prove my designs to be unique among all. Among the weaknesses I have found out that I lack the ability to see things unbiasedly. I feel to be biased towards one particular type of designs and following the same framework for innovative implementation (Carlgren, Rauth & Elmquist, 2016). This biasness in me can prevent me from gathering inspiration from diverse environment which is one of the most important factors for successful design thinking. Moreover I take more time than expected in thinking process which make challenge for my future. This tool is effective for my future career growth because through innovativeness I can promote creativity that is the mother of design thinking.
As I have mentioned in week 5 blog, that empathising is a vital tool in the design thinking process. This particular tool helps me to understand more critical problems as well as circumstances. This also helps to attain more realistic approach for the problems solving. The empathising mentality of the persons guide one to grow more collaborative. It is one of the most important knowledge development for the leadership or management skills. Empathise tool is essential for the design thinking process as this allows me to understand as well as share the same feelings which others feel (Bernstein & Linsky, 2016). Through this process I am capable to put myself in other’s mind setup and connect their feelings with the design. I am thus capable to realise their problems, issues, situations and circumstances.
Through this tool, I can now understand what the other person is feeling tis mandatory for me to understand what the others means the other team members are feeling and reacting about one particular incident. Through this tool I have developed the understanding that what actions and words have led them to think like this (Liedtka, 2015). In addition to this, I have also understood how to approach them during their situations. This has reduced conflicts in the team work process making me think more collaboratively. Empathising is important in the process of describing the feeling of the self as well as of the others. Thus I have grown emotional intelligence that when mixed with creativity can enhance design thinking capabilities. This is a kind of knowledge which bridged the gap between the personal development and the knowledge development. This tool has helped me to identify the weakness like dependability upon the other team members to achieve the goals (Liedtka, 2015). In most of the cases or projects I have found that I tend to take responsibilities seldom and trying to involve other team members to work out the issues. This is preventing me to develop the leadership skills in me. True leaders not only empathise with the others but also control their emotions effectively so that they can balance the whole process (Chapman, 2015). Empathising knowledge is essential for me because I will grow myself as a design thinker manager in the near future.

Communication process |
For any manager or design thinker, communication process is a necessity. This helps in the presentation of the personal understanding of the subjects and the designs. I have different thought process which make me different form the others but I cannot share this different points of view to the others as I cannot apply my communication skills in presenting myself (Brown, 2015). I also need to work on the non-verbal communication along with the verbal or written one. |
Two months |
The communication skill will help me to share my knowledge to the others effectively in one hand and to management conflict among the team members. |
Time management |
As mentioned before, my time management capability is almost zero in the decision making process or for that matter the actions taken. In most of the case, I am prone to fail to meet the deadlines (Eckman, Gorski & Mehta, 2016). This is why I need to grow the ability to set perfect goals and complete all the tasks with in that limited time. In the future I am going to feel the pressure of the clients which will affect my quality of design. |
One month |
Through practicing the small objectives to complete within the time, I can implement those in the case of bigger objectives also. Time management capacity will be helping me to complete all the tasks within time without affecting the quality in hurry (Carlgren, Rauth & Elmquist, 2016). |
Team work capabilities |
I do not possess the team work capabilities as I do not know the factors affecting the team work or collaborative measures. I have to take help from the different training processes and the tutors so that I get the opportunity to work in the team environment. |
Two months |
The more I get the chance to work in the team ambience the more I will be able to grow my own collaborative nature. Thinking about the interest of the others, discussing in the team meetings and sharing of knowledge are the factors which I can develop through these trainings and thus become capable team worker. |
Knowledge gaining and sharing |
I need to learn from the academic journals, articles and books so that I gain in depth knowledge about the design thinking process along with that of the leadership and management. In addition to this, I also need to learn about the case studies in the design thinking aspects because these are incident that took place in the practical world. Therefore along with theories, I need to understand the importance of practical knowledge. |
Two months |
Through this process I gain scope for relating the design thinking tools like brain storing in to practice (Plattner, Meinel & Leifer, 2015). Not only the gaining of knowledge is not accepted in the design thinking process, but also sharing of the gained knowledge has to be implemented. Through sharing of the skills and knowledge can develop a great pool of knowledge which enhance efficiency of the teams. |
Emotional control |
Empathising process as essential for the design thinking, I need to undergo different tests and guidance of the mentors so that I can control my emotions in the workplace. It is true that without guidance of internal streets and empathising, I cannot successfully create a design and present hence proper balance of this tool must be used. |
Three months |
This a long process to achieve. This will help me to empathise with the others but also control my own emotions effectively so that I can balance the whole process. It trends to enhance my capability to use emotions just when I need them. |
Conclusion:
Therefore, it can be concluded that design thinking process needs support from personal as well as knowledge development. As I have found out that design thinking process is not very easy task that needs dynamic skills and takes to support creativity and imagination. Not only these, but a successful design thinker needs full support of the in-depth knowledge and presentation skills so that the uniqueness can be beheld by the others. Therefore I think by following these actions I will be able to cope up with any situation.
