More detail of the task has been discussed below.
Trade union plays a significant role for each and every employee. Trade union is an association or a gathering that the workers or the employees join with the purpose to get their interests and views well depicted. The companies experienced the reality that the workers had an incredible significance and a remarkable role to play in the workplace and this was well understood by the corporate houses at that time. The trade unions were usually formed by the casual workers working at the factory level but analyzing the importance and advantages of these unions the employees too began to shape trade unions to secure their own interests (El-Agraa, 2011). The managers around the globe perceived that the most ideal approach to determine the issues is by method of dialogue and the workers knew that in order to shield them from abuse, solidarity is vital. This proved out to be one of the main reasons for such a great popularity of the formation trade unions at that time (Briscoe, Tarique and Schuler, 2012).
The emergence of the trade unions can be followed back to the eighteen century, when the fast extension and growth of the modern industries pulled in females, youngsters and settlers to work drive in substantial numbers. The presence of a solid and perceived trade union was considered to be very essential for the industrial tranquility. Choices taken through the procedure of aggregate haggling and arrangements among the managers and the unions were more compelling. Trade unions assumed an essential part and were useful in viable correspondence between the workers and the administration. They gave the counsel and support to guarantee that the distinctions of feelings and views don’t transform into significant clashes. The focal capacity of a union was to speak to individuals at work. However, they likewise had a more extensive part in ensuring their interests. They additionally assumed a critical instructive part, arranging courses for their individuals on an extensive variety of issues. Looking for a sound and safe workplace was an additional component of the trade union (Lichtenstein, 2013).
Importance of trade unions for corporate houses and the society:-
Trade unions are essential for the workers for the reasons mentioned below
Obsolete means something which is no longer in use or something which is out of production. The word obsolete in terms of trading in the company means that the union has reduced its importance and is being out of business operations. They have seen immense fall in its performance from earlier times. The companies have started replacing the traditional trade unions with the new technological aspects which has outshined them. this is the main reason why trade unions in 21st century have become obsolete and will never be able to flourish its business with traditional methods (Chen and Novy, 2011).
Trade unions have played a major role in the functioning of the business operations. These unions have shown immense growth at the work place at times. Today these trade unions have started demanding more from the companies because of the efforts they put in working for the betterment of the organization (Drucker, 2017). This has resulted in developing stress over the company. Trade unions have made the company achieve greater heights effectively and efficiently. They have raised the standards of the company in their own way. But somewhere these trade unions lack the progress in meeting with the automated society of 21st century. The methods used by trade unions are traditional and do not serve the company in long run. These traditional methods cannot further profound the development of the company. The main challenge that is faced by trade unions is to face the issues raised die to globalization and urbanization (Heery, 2009). These trade unions of the company have been working for the welfare of the company but now the increasing demands of them have made it difficult for the organization to work with them. They have started putting less effort in working on the job assigned (Urban, 2012).
The main reason for their obsoleteness is due to the advance technology that are necessary to be used which these trade unions working with traditional methods are unaware of. Lack of knowledge in technical field has degraded the growth of the trade unions at the workplace. This has made difficult for the company to continue with the trade unions. Ageing workforce is another reason for lack of development of the trade unions which ultimately results in decreasing performance of the trade unions (Cogan and Derricott, 2014). The age becomes an issue for them to continue working for the company. With the growing age they have to compromise with their health and it therefore becomes difficult for them to work in the company. The company has to compete with other international companies in order to develop its trade in the market. Trade union is unaware of the fact how companies operate using the technological advancements. To operate on these technical advancements it becomes a kind of challenge for these trade unions (Jensen, 2011). These innovative techniques make it uneasy for them to operate the business and run it on a large scale.
The companies from now on does not necessarily require trade unions as they have professionals working for them who are aware about the new and advance methods of operating the business with the involvement of technologies (Drucker, 2012). Companies have become less vulnerable in fulfilling the demands of the trade union which have made them obsolete. The trade union is an important part of the company but their increasing demands makes it difficult for them to work with the company. In today’s fast developing world it has become obsolete due to its expectations. The expectations of these trade unions are so high that the companies find it difficult to fulfill them. The labor unions are still important in the company although its standards have reduced to such an extent that it has made the business a smooth functioning system (Cogan and Derricott, 2014). According to a survey it has been found that “trade unions have not become obsolete but they are being crushed by the wing politics”. The statement suggests that the traditional methods used by the trade unions should be replaced by the new and advanced technological advancements. This can only be done if the company chooses to work with advance techniques like software, website publishing, technical advertising, etc. In today’s fast developing world the demand for traditional trade unions has started deteriorating and the new technical and advanced trade unions have taken their place.
Along with this, some other reasons why trade unions have become obsolete in today’s globalization world. There is high and intense competition exists in the global market that could affect the functions of trade union. Deregulations in traditionally unionized industries have direct impact on the functions of the workers in the global market. In today’s 21st century the employees are not taking interest in their work thus, it is also a biggest challenge for the companies. In addition, federal employment law also may affect the functionality of the employees and business as well.
Conclusion
On the above mentioned analysis it has been concluded that trade unions plays an effective role in representing the workers. The trade union can help to negotiate and initiate new working practices which help in enhancing and increasing productivity and efficiency. The report is a fine example that discusses how trade unions have seen its downfall. The importance of trade union has made the company flourish in earlier times but now the increasing demand of the trade unions has made it difficult for the company to work with them. The report shows how trade unions are unaware about the advance technologies and therefore have made its downfall. It discusses about the objective of how trade unions in today’s era have become obsolete and is discussed very well. The report concludes on the topic of what has caused the trade unions in 21st century that is has degraded and is less regarded by the companies.
